I love credit cards so much!

Thanks for sharing. What an ordeal! I'm in for 2 new cards in the last 6 months, and 0/30. I've tried to take it slow, go after only big bonuses, avoid hotel co-branded cards regardless of bonuses, and focus on maximizing points and miles for the bonus categories on the cards I already have. I'm pretty sure I'll apply for the CIP. The signup bonus -- even at 80,000 UR -- is too versatile and tempting to ignore. I'd dread having to answer questions about my business because a lot of it is still prospective. (In reality, I'm also a bit nervous picking up new gigs and clients after stepping away from it these last two years.) And I'd really hate to waste a hard pull on a denial, even if it might ding my score by 10 points or whatever.

I would go for it when you have a legit business. I tried to mention my new LLC and that I didn't include that on my app because I don't have revenue yet, but she said she could only evaluate what was on my submitted application. I should have waited until I had more concrete numbers.

I just reconned the CIP after getting the letter today saying I had too many recent accounts. I thought I was golden because I was AU on 2 cards and had DH remove me. 40 minutes on the phone, on hold 4 or 5 times, sending it to a senior lender for approval, will hear by mail in 1-2 weeks. Not expecting anything good at this point. I just hope no one calls me to go over anything else. That was horrible.

On the bright side, I think that they always send these things through an outside analyst. Both times I've reconned a Chase business card we have gotten that answer, and both times we were approved in the end.

In fact, my dad just got the approval email on his CIP yesterday after the same drill.

Crossing fingers!!

My aunt just applied for the CIP, got the 30-day message and then got a denial letter. Same reason you were denied. I told her to call recon but now I am wondering if she really should bother. She sells a lot on eBay but also is a fairly busy TA. She only put the eBay stuff on the app though because the TA work is fairly new.

She had just been approved for the CSP about 28 days before she applied but we thought she'd be ok since Chase allows 2/30. She isn't over 5/24 (only at 2/24 currently).

I do hope yours comes through after they put you through that phone call!

Learned something new today. Chase portal = expedia. like... expedia expedia... Chase cards only work in Chase portal too.
Food for thought.

I learned this over last weekend when I stayed at a hotel in Madison and they mentioned that the hotel had been prepaid through Expedia.

Interesting, I wonder if this is a recent partnership or if it has been ongoing.

I'm thinking about applying for a new card. We already have the Disney Chase Card, Citi Double cash, American Express Blue Cash, two Bank of America cards (Amex and MC), BabiesRUs Platinum MC (which we only use for special promotions), Banana Republic Visa, and the Amazon Store Card.

We don't fly often (we usually drive to Orlando), but when we do, we fly Delta. We shop for groceries at Kroger, but rarely use the fuel points, since we don't have a Kroger gas station nearby. We shop at Costco too and use their gas station.

We have a balance on the Banana Republic Visa that I'd like to get rid off, either by transfer or by spending on a different credit card with better interest. Our credit is good, but we do have quite a bit of debt.

I'd prefer a card with cash back rewards and no annual fee. Suggestions?

TIA

If you aren't over 5/24 I'd suggest the Chase Freedom. If you are then the Amex Everyday

Thanks. What is 5/24?

You are welcome. Chase has an unwritten rule of automatically denying any applicant who has opened up 5 or more credit cards from any store or bank in the past 24 months on certain cards. Chase Freedom is one of the card that falls under 5/24.

They have been operating through Expedia at least since September 2016. DH and I went on a trip staying at 3 different hotels all booked with UR points and they all came up at the hotels as booked through Expedia.

OK, I just got a letter from Chase that due to inactivity, my Disney Visa was scheduled to be closed in 60 days. It said I can use it in that time, but that won't prevent it from closing. (I never use this card). Anyhoo, I was actually planning to use it for our March 2018 WDW trip. How long after it closes do you think I need to wait to reapply and get the bonus offer? I've had it for over two years--probably 3 so it has been a while since I got the offer.

Well, I applied for the CIP this morning. It went pending and asked me to call as soon as possible M-F to discuss my application. I've read that it's not really to my benefit to call. I called the status line instead and got the decision in 30 days message. I'll check back again in a few days. Fingers crossed.

DBF currently has the SW Plus, so he is trying to get CP using the SW premier Business and Personal. Applied for both, and was approved for business but denied for personal because "we can't approve you for the same product at the same time, but you can trying calling for reconsideration before the app goes into archive." Does anyone know if he would still qualify for the current 60K offer if the recon is successful on 7/1 since the app was submitted when the bonus is 60K?

Interesting. I'm not sure what I would do in your shoes. They might just want to move credit around or verify your address...something simple like that. But after my call yesterday, I'll never suggest that anyone should call!

Keeping my fingers crossed for you and hoping you get it.

I am getting very close to retirement. Actually I could have retired two years ago, but wasn't mentally ready.

Now, I am seriously considering it within 1 year.
I will have some income from pensions (2) and the old ss check adds a little as well. I also have income from my retirement savings. I will be comfortable, with a paid off home and cars and more money coming in than actual expenses. Health care won't be a problem.

I've always been a minor credit card junkie. Apply for the points, meet minimum spend and toss it in the sock drawer.

Thought I was beyond all of that but now I am seeing a way to fund more travel. (I didn't bother opening this thread for a long time, now I'm glued to it!)

Do you think the fact that I will be retired will have an impact on approvals?

My fico scores are all good - 838, and 850 - amex and my credit union show them on my accounts.
