I love credit cards so much!

Have any of you downgraded from the Disney Visa premier back to the regular? I have an upgrade offer, with a $50 credit to offset the annual fee, and I am thinking of doing it, since we have a trip fall 2018. But I would want to downgrade back next year, as I haven't paid a fee since I got the card in 2003 and I don't want to start now. I am wondering if they are ok with downgrading and if it messes anything up?
Thanks!

I've had the regular Disney Visa for years, but a couple of years ago instead of upgrading to the Premier, I just opened a new account. The current offer on the Disney World website is a $200 statement credit after you spend $500 in the first three months of account opening. That's a much better deal than the $50 credit they offered me to upgrade. I kept the card for a year and when the next annual fee came due, I closed the account (after spending all the accumulated rewards first). I keep my regular no-fee Disney Visa for the discounts, but rarely use it for charging.

Hmmmm, is that covered under the 5/24?

Yes, I downgraded to the regular earlier this year. However, when I saw the recent deal for the $200 statement credit for the premier card I applied for that one again. So, now I have both and will probably get rid of the premier again when the AF comes due next year.

No, neither Disney card falls under 5/24. I'm 8/24 right now and was instantly approved for the premier last week.
Hahahaha now you got me thinking!!! Dh asked what the big piles of credit cards I have is, what's two more right, one for each? Could I apply and then refer him, or vice versa, do they have a referral for the premier? I have referrals for the regular but we both have those already.

The current offer I see is for $200 gift card, not credit. But I guess if I take the $49 fee out of my Disney savings, it's all the same right? :-)

Exactly, lol, two more cards are nothing! :)

You can find the $200 statement credit offer on the Disneyland website. That's the link I used for my recent application. I'm not sure if there are any referrals available for the premier right now. The ones I've seen recently are all for the regular. If you've had the regular for over two years I guess you could close those and re-apply in a few months to get the $200 gift cards.

Nah, I've had that card since Day 1, I like it LOL, and I have $850 sitting on it right now.
I think I will just got for the 2 premiers, one for each of us. Also trying to get my dad to bite on my referral from my regular account.

I was able to convince my mom to use my referral for the regular...hey, that's what parents are for, right?!!! Also, try posting your referral link on your facebook page. One of my friends used the link which was awesome!

Just got us each the premier with the $200 gift card, thanks for suggesting going that route instead of the upgrade. I was thinking no go because of 5/24. But holy cow Chase, you have the 5/24 rule, yet you give out INSANE credit limits on the cards you will approve us for!

No kidding, mine was approved at a $25k credit limit, which is insane because I have two other cards with them with almost the same limits!

Got back yesterday from my Norwegian Fjords cruise. It was awesome and we had an amazing time, even with a few rainy days. As for credit cards, I used several cards (Capitol One Quicksilver, Chase Marriott and CSR) that have chips but no pin. Not once during the entire trip did I have a problem. They just make you sign if your card lacks the pin feature.

Before I left for the trip, I applied for the Chase Freedom Unlimited because we plan to buy a new washer and dryer this month and I wanted to have something new to charge that to for minimum spend. This card will be replacing my Capitol One Quicksilver as my everyday card for non-bonus category spending. Still keeping my Quicksilver, since it has the advantage of no foreign transaction fees which is useful when visiting the in-laws in Canada. Well, I didn't get instant approval. And when I got home I had a rejection letter saying that I was denied because I had reached the limit to the amount of credit they would extend to me. So I called this morning and had them transfer credit from my Marriott card over to the CFU with instant approval. They are expediting the card and I should have it by Wednesday or so. I plan to app for the CSP in a few months, so I imagine that I will have to go through the same process again.

Looking for suggestions.
I'm going to have a big chunk of medical bills to pay soon, around $1K, so I'm thinking of opening another card to meet minimum spend. I was looking at some airline specific cards, since I've only focused on UR and Hilton until now. Here are the options I'm looking at, maybe someone has other ideas:

For a lower min spend I can knock out with just the medical bills:
Alaska Air (30K + $100 credit + CP targeted) – I’m based on the East Coast, but I already have 10K miles from the Virgin America transfer and we’re planning on a West Coast trip in the next year, so we could use the miles to jump from CA to WA, or possibly to transfer to another airline

Or for a higher min spend:
AAdvantage Platinum (65K targeted) – With all the news about nonexistent AA award availability, I don't know if I want to bother with them, but I know they're versatile internationally through OneWorld. What makes AA tempting is the frequency of offers without the 24 month language. It makes me want to start stockpiling these cards. But is it worth it if I can never find availability?
United MPE (70K targeted) – I’ve read about United’s product being inferior to many other airlines, but maybe good for transfer partners

My home airport is Hartford, so not a hub but can fly out on AA or United. But I have Southwest RR and the CP for domestic travel until the end of next year, so maybe focusing on future international use makes more sense. We're tossing around the idea of a Japan trip in 2019, and we also want to explore Europe.

After this I think I'm going to slow down for a while (aside from possibly going for CIP with my new LLC). I'm going to be looking at refinancing my mortgage a little later this year, so better safe than sorry.
Fwiw we have 3 AA cards. We fly out of OHare (AA hub) & have not had issues with using rewards for domestic coach flights. We don't have enough miles accumulated to even look at first class fares, so no idea there.

It's practically a "yes". I was in the same boat and did so much research and never came across anyone who got denied at that stage. Fingers crossed for you!
DH was approved (as indicated by the new account when I log in to his Chase page) so I messaged them asking to overnight the card. I sent him the original referral from my CSP card. Any experience with how long before I see the points added to my account for the referral?

You will see it when your statement closes. However, if you check your UR balance for your CSP now you should see the points pending. If you don't see it now, give it a few days. At least that's how it worked with my referral for DH's CSP a few months ago.

I'm near an AA hub so we mostly fly One World alliance. I haven't had any issues redeeming and getting availability. If you are thinking of going to Japan, I'd suggest looking into which airline you may be flying to get there and how many miles you would need on that airline to secure those flights and go from there.

For those who have Chase business cards... It seems like they typically take 10 days to come. Is that from application date our approval date? I'm just curious about when to expect mine.

Right now the Hilton Honors AMEX has a signup bonus ok 80k points for 2k spend. Anyone familiar with Hilton cards? Is this a normal bonus, any chance it will go higher? Or lower? This one ends 5/31 but just got approved for CSP and would prefer not to try 2 at once.

Mine was from approval date.

There is an offer right now for 100,000 bonus points for 3K spend for the Hilton Honors Surpass card, which has a $75 annual fee. This version of the card also gives you a free weekend night after your first anniversary.

I was looking at these Hilton offers as well but decided to go with the CSR instead based on advise here, since I was at 3/24. Once I finish spend on the CSR, I'll look at other Chase cards before getting anything else.

I am at 5/24 already, so looking for non-Chase cards. Was considering the Hilton Honors no AF card but not sure if the bonus is high/normal/low for Hilton. If this is their usual offer, I will wait as we're already working on spend for DHs CSP
