CRAZY situation with Chase: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/reports-significant-security-issue-deposit-accounts-chase/

People are attempting to login to their account but then see somebody else's account! Odd and somewhat concerning...since we are all so big on Chase here I'd stay close to this one.

Oh jeez, and just when I think I sold hubby on the bank account bonus....

I hope they resolve it quickly, I am not looking forward to another credit card number change... it's been a whopping 3 months since the last one.

its been resolved according to DoC... i saw it last night, but i thought it was isolated to one person but i guess not. In other news, your password into most your bank account isnt case sensitive... have fun with that! :D

is there a new fee for FU that I missed seeing?
No! All is good! The letter was a notice from Chase explaining that the annual fee was now $0 on their credit card, it was really weird so it made me think they must be required to notify consumers of a change in AF even when initiated by the consumer (ie CSR to CFU).

I saw all the hoopla about Chase accounts *after* I logged in through the app. Hopefully all is over though. Our accounts all look fine.

Yeah, oddly enough banks are usually one of the last places to update or add security. A lot of local banks around here use the same provider for online banking, it's basic but has all the stuff you'd want to do with it. Not all that long ago when you opened your account and wanted online banking, you gave the banker your username and password to setup the account because they had to do it in their system. Password had to be less than 8 characters :scared: Fast forward to the other week, they have progressed and now you just need to give the bank the username you want to use and the system will send out a temp password... baby steps :D Oh, couple years ago they upgraded and password has to be more than 8 characters now. The big banks are a little faster but still lag behind due to legacy systems usually.

Discover used to accept an invalid password as long as the first part matched your pw. This was before they mandated a number had to be part of the password. My original pw had no numbers, when accounts started requiring numbers I just added some digits to the end. So since I used the same password for multiple sites (such a simpler time) I would accidentally log into the discover page with the wrong password but it still accepted it. Haven't tried it since they made me change my pw to have numbers, but I would like to live in a world where they fixed that and so I just assume they did :rolleyes1

Another reason for you to try for a CIP and use Plastiq: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/plastiq-send-payments-via-ach-instead-check-select-users/

Plastiq now offers ACH payments. If paying your taxes on the CIP is still an option (especially to knock out a minimum spend), I wouldn't worry about the amount of your payment through Plastiq. I think whether Chase will approve another business card and how much of a limit they'll give you are more preliminary issues. Once you're approved, you could request they move some credit from your other Chase business card lines to the CIP to make it really useful for spending on business expenses.

Wondering if this will work as a direct deposit for bank bonuses. Hmmm... May need to sign DH up for Plastiq using my link.

After seeing Chase comments I decided to log in online and double check any pending purchases for fraud charges. All clear. While in there I went ahead and rechecked the price on my minivan rental for Orlando in September and it was much lower. I canceled the current booking and rebooked the lower rate saving 8600 UR.

Scanning through my semi-junk email I noticed one from Best Buy for an un-birthday gift, free $5.

It's a good day for travel planning over here in my little world.

I logged in also this morning..before.. I saw the report. Hope all is good. I check all my CC accounts every 2-3 days
to make sure no funny business is going on.

Ironically i had a problem with Chase last year when one time i logged on and someone else phone number
was on the acct. I freaked out and chase changed it right away and said probably a glitch. Hmmm

When booking through travel portal for rental cars do you have to use points? Do you find the rates
cheaper than other places like costco?

You can use points or cash or both. Mine was cheaper than anywhere else I checked.

I just popped it into Costco to check. Costco for a minivan for a week $424, through Chase $284.70 or 18,980 UR, both via Alamo. The Chase price has been fluctuating, I was periodically checking before I booked airfare, but didn't book the car until I had the flight times.

Thanks. Did you book your airfare through them also? Im looking for airfare also but never know
how often to check. Are they cheaper certain days? Did you check say Google flights and then
Chase?

I have never gone to chase travel portal up until a couple weeks ago and still find it a bit confusing.o_O

I have MSd before when it was easy. Amazon payments, CVS reloads on Vanilla Visas, Blue Bird and Red Bird. I will likely do so again but with a card bank that won’t bother me if I’m shut down. I’m thinking Wells Fargo and another Propel card.

After realizing that our WDW/Universal trip might well be the week of Christmas, I started thinking (again) about whether MS could help me boost my miles/points/pennies for what could be a crazy expensive trip. After doing the math, I still don't see how this can be very lucrative. But those of you who have done this, please let me know where my reasoning is mistaken.

So, I have a lot of cards but if am recalling them all correctly, my best unlimited "payout" is 2% cash back from CapOne, 2x MR from AmEx Gold, and 2x points from Barclay. Assuming I bought $10,000 in gift cards, that would yield around $200. But the fees for those gift cards would be around $100. Plus money order fees, which I'm guessing would be at least $5-10. So for the time it would take to buy the gift cards, turn them into money orders (which would require dealing with Walmart customer service), then depositing them at the bank (which from what I have read would require several trips to the bank, as showing up with $10,000 in money orders is frowned upon), I would end up with less than $100.

What am I missing? Do I need a different card? A different process? I can see how doing this every day would add up, but with the time involved, I can't see myself being able to do it more than twice a month.

For my trip next week, I put a Google Flights alert on the flight I wanted. I received an email one night that the price had dropped $30 and jumped online ASAP and saw that Chase had dropped their price too. I booked then with my UR points, and I'm glad I did because that's the only day I've seen it drop to that price.

I booked with Southwest and transferred UR to my RR account as I didn't have enough to book all 7 of us. I'll keep checking in case the fare drops, but I stupidly booked us all at once instead of individually like I normally do. Last time I was able to cancel and rebook 3 of us a slightly lower rate. I'm very happy with the rate I have though. I booked right away when the schedule opened and it was lower than I anticipated and so far has only gone up in price.

Booking in the Chase portal is easy, canceling is easy as well and the points are returned right away. If you're booking air or hotel just make sure the rate you're booking is refundable, it's not hidden and is easy to see when booking.
