I love credit cards so much!

i think @hsmamato2 is talking about the charges onto the cards. which i do believe it earns 2x(1x in regular cat, 1x in other cat). what you posted above is on SPG side, the points earned via SPG is only room rate, does not include tax or any resort fee.

edit: yes, i can confirm it earns 2x.
Oh yes, thanks I was referring to resort fees on a points room, would that be 2x points or just one?

Speaking of these links...are the Marriott offers for the 75,000 points and waived AF through these links? I saw the 80,000 offer still posted in dischurners.

it looks like all the new offers cant be achieved with referrals. So it might be something to calculate.

as per @pillow post, you do not earn any points on taxes, resort fee, etc on SPG side. So far, for me, its always 2 x room rate only.(or 3x if your gold?/platinum.)
you earn 2x via SPG Amex Biz or SPG Amex.

For all international travelers, what do you do for money once in foreign country? My daughter is possibly flying to Thailand, without me. She is a AU on my CSP, but I know I always see stuff about Chip and Pin cards, which I don't think the CSP is, and truthfully, don't fully understand or I have also seen things about no fee Debit cards and just use local ATMs. Any tips for spending money abroad?

There are only a handful of true chip and pin cards. Unless you are dealing wit and unmanned kiosk you should be fine with a chip and signature card, like the CSR, CSP and many others. I always use my CSR for international travel since it has no FTF. I prefer to use a credit card over cash any day to earn my points. I usually get a small amount of cash before traveling to have on hand for the few times if any that I might be unable to use a credit card. This is very rarely the case.

The referral offer is different from the current public offer. One of the reasons I love us is that we can have this discussion, other places on the internet would try to convince or tell you something else in order to get you to use their referral link. We're honest! The best offer right now is 75K public offer with the AF waived on a dollar basis. If you really want the extra 5K, have a spouse and are getting the referral bonus + the 5K, or are just feeling like spreading love I guess (we do not expect anybody to do this but we will provide the opportunity just in case someone feels like it ;) ) use a referral link for the 80K and pay the AF. Pick the offer that's best for you!
ETA: if it were me I'd use the public link to not have to pay the AF (but I have no slots left with Chase :( )

ETA: @SouthFayetteFan has discovered links for both offers!!

Thank you both for the clarification!

My referral link that I used for DH the other week was the 80k offer with annual fee and 7.5k for AU. It seemed the better way to go since I was also getting 20k points :)
It does seem to make sense for you to go that route in that particular situation!

i think the bigger question would be the 75k offer or the 120k offer. haha. i think i am so far the only one that bit the 120k offer. everyone else did 75k offer.
@vanjust14 the decision is up to u!

I have both of the Marriott offers available now under my name. I think if you held on to your old link you could also generate the new offer as well and list both.

DISchurners PSA...
Make sure you check all your links to see if they are active. They will expire after awhile. I try to go and test people's links every so often (found one today and sent a reminder). You don't want to miss out on a potential click because your link expired.

Also if you want to join our Private DISchurners Reddit group just send me @SouthFayetteFan or @Albort a PM here on the DIS with your Reddit name. There are some additional tips over there, a nice Wiki (done by @Albort) that has some great resources and it's also the best way to support fellow DISers when applying for new cards by using each other's links. EVERYBODY is permitted to share their links there too - no karma requirements, etc. like on r/churning. Thanks!
Ok - so strange update here - I've noticed that on some AMEX links they are going to a "campaign expired" page. Sometimes an initial landing page will work and then the apply now page fails. This is even occuring on NEW LINKS generated today. I've seen other reports of this issue elsewhere on the web - so just be aware of it. Bummer if you can't get your link to work (I have 3 AMEX links affected by this myself). What's really strange is I can send myself an email or post to twitter a new link that still doesn't work. At any rate - if the first link you pick doesn't work try others and don't give up on supporting somebody here!

Marriott Superbowl update.
i got the 3 replies of you got it. still no points posted.

I haven't gotten any replies with you got it - even though I know I got the correct answer :). Do they respond to everyone? That would take forever.

I haven't gotten any tweets or emails back from Marriott and the points are not added either.

About Marriott points, only my dh has an account and the points say to either use some of them or stay with marriott by 3/2/18 to not lose them. If I book a room using UR points, would I still earn Marriott points or does it have to be a room paid for with cash?

You need to plan a vacation He would enjoy, that will convert him. For the first time in years we were able to spend Christmas - thanks SW - and since then he’s been saving credit card offers, which he used to toss. He also doesn’t mind calling Chase to get his cards expedited.

Thanks, that's what I thought I was doing in trying to plan the Hawaii trip! Oh well. Trying to research a short Vegas trip that he would enjoy but staying on points on the strip seem pretty pricey and not worth it.

Not sure if UR counts, usually no points accrue. But I think you can go through the Marriott More app and buy something.

ETA Do you have an SPG account? Can you transfer the points?

Rooms booked using URs will not earn Marriott Points based on what I've read online. I don't specifically have experience with this though.

Ways to keep Marriott Points active:

The following activities do not count toward maintaining an active status in the Marriott Rewards® program:

  • Gifting or transferring points
  • Receiving points as a gift or transfer
  • Earning points through social media programs, such as #MRPoints
  • Linking your accounts with other programs
  • Receiving Status Matching across program accounts
  • Transferring points to accounts in other programs

How was your cruise?? I'm trying to squeeze a short cruise in the fall.

Like all 3 day Disney cruises, much too short. But 3 days on a Disney cruise is always better than 3 days at work or at home. We normally book a 3 day over a long weekend that incorporates a Monday holiday to conserve vacation days. This one was more a reunion with a big group of now life long friends that all met on a Disney cruise.

On that topic, we were able to use Disney gift cards that were purchased at 5x, 10x and or discounted for our onboard purchases. Not only that, we were able to book a placeholder cruise with a Disney gift card while on board.

Oops. Sorry for the confusion. I think I was actually mixing up the SPG side and credit card charge side in my head. I am confused way too often these days lol!!
