I love credit cards so much!

Do Disney resort hotels categorize as travel on CSR? My annual fee is coming up, so I figure I’d charge $300 of my stay to it if it will.

Thanks
Yes.

Top tip: since Disney Resort hotel bills code as travel anything you can charge to your room will code as travel. This is nice because merchandise (and some food stands I think) code as merchandise so charging them to the room means I get them coded as travel and get 3% back on my CSR instead of the 1% they would code at if I had paid the shops direct in the park.

I think they dole out approx 10% of income as the limit on each card. Ours are all right about that amount. As income has increased each year so have our initial credit limits proportionately. We have probably 7 chase personal cards between us, all with $25-35k limits. Shocking really to extend that much credit. Ha. I read somewhere how the max total credit limit is calculated but can't recall what it was.

Hm, I can't make 10% work for any of my cards. I wish my credit limits were 10% of my gross or net income, that would mean I'd have a lot more income (I'm not greedy, I'll take net, hehe) :)

My Discover closes on the 27th, granted I opened it in 2014... but I had a very long first statement like jujubiee, like a month and a half. I actually logged on multiple times to check that I hadn't missed it, because it was my first credit card.

Interesting how that happens. Maybe they saw how much I put on in just 10 days and said 'cut her off', hehe. Just happened to show up when I needed my car repaired and Target 10% weekend, plus since it's the first year I've switched to using it as my main card when there's not a better option since 2% cash (even delayed) is better than 1% anywhere else (for what I have currently).

Might not apply to many since I don't know how many of you have the Capital One Venture but just FYI in case it helps someone in the future. I am either going to close out the account or downgrade to no AF soon. Before doing that I thought I would use the "purchase eraser" to take off a last travel expense. Since I didn't have anything right now I bought a gift card on the Delta web site. It didn't code as travel but as "generic business services." Argh...

I need a pep talk. As I have talked about for some reason Amex won't give the 70,000 mile bonus and $100 off on the Delta Platinum Business that DH got in October. We have met all the conditions and all they will say is wait another couple weeks as it is now "under review." I am discouraged. I feel like the credit card game has let me down!

Right now I am 5/24. But the above mentioned Capital One will be off March 1st and then I want to apply for the Chase Ink Preferred. Meanwhile though I would like to get the 70,000 miles and use DH's referral and get an Amex Delta Platinum Business under my name. (I know for most Delta miles don't mean much but as a "Delta hostage" they do to me). Despite my frustrated feelings with Amex should I bite the bullet and just apply for the card now? Or should I just cool it for a while and focus on doing the CIP when I have the best chance in March?

Edited to add: another thought is to get the SPG Business. We both have personal SPG.
What would you all do?

That SPG Biz card is all the rage on here right now lol! Don't let your fight with AMEX keep you from earning that next bonus! I can't really recommend between the two cards though - that's probably more a you decision. Does the Delta card charge an annual fee? SPG waives it yr1 so maybe that's a reason to go in that direction.

This hasn't been my experience. I only wish my credit lines were each 10% of my income!!

I know! The love for the SBG Biz is why I even thought of it! No the Delta card doesn't waive the first year. It is a $195 fee with after the first year you get the companion certificate.

I would have to do some serious spending to meet the bonus on both. But yes something to think about.

Thanks!

Question SW experts! I met my $3k minimum spend on my SW biz card in the first month, with a tuition bill putting me over the top in the last few days before my statement closed. To be more specific, the charge was made on 1/7, was processing for two days, and then my statement closed on 1/9. The charge is definitely on my statement, and I've made the min. spend. This is also taking into account the annual fee (total stmt balance was $3,130, AF is $99). However, only the 3k points have been posted to my RR account, not the 60k bonus. I also have a previous SM from Chase verifying that I qualify for the 60k points and the date I need to meet the spend by. Any ideas as to why I didn't receive the 60k points? :confused3 I was thinking I'd SM Chase and ask, any reason not to? I'm hoping to book some flights soon with the points. Thanks!

You typically need to meet the spend about a week before the statement closes to have the bonus credit on the same statement. Unfortunately your 60k points are likely going to wait a month now. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news :(

@WDWRook @mfly @SouthFayetteFan

Just an update on the Disney reservation to Chase process. I contacted my Chase rep again today since its been a few days and she called Disney to check on it but they have not gotten it processed on their end yet. She's going to check back next week and get ahold of me. Disney says it takes 7 business days to complete and its only been two and a half. I didn't figure it was done yet because I still have a "Make a Payment" option on MDE. I've never transferred a reservation to a TA before but I assume that should go away once its processed as I have heard you can only make payments through your TA after the transfer.

I was away for the week at DISNEYLAND! I enjoyed reading everyone’s travel plans for 2018. I’m super jealous of everyone’s plans. Unfortunately, I have none yet for 2018. I will have SW points, URs, and Marriott points, but since I’m graduating soon I don’t know where I’ll be in a few months. Hopefully, soon I can start to plan some vacations. For now I’ll try hoarding some points.

Disneyland was amazing. I used Southwest points and the companion pass to go from the east coast to LAX for 18,500 Southwest points. The room my family took care of. We stayed in a DVC two bedroom villa at the Grand Californian. My BF and I were planning on going back and staying off site, but we have been spoiled. Hopefully, I can use my travel hacking skills to get us there because I certainly can’t afford it out of pocket. lol

South Fayette Fan, I was thinking too, that maybe some of the outside referrals used were spouses, etc.

That was a fun survey!
That is certainly possible - the question did say ones you would've used through DISchurners had it been setup BUT I could see how somebody missed that ;)

Overall I'm just really glad to see that people are supporting each other and that the effort to set things up there was well worth it :)

You guys have heard about retail therapy? Shopping to make yourself feel better? What is it called when you apply for a credit card instead?

Thanks @SouthFayetteFan and @Albort for the encouragement, I just applied and was approved for another Amex! My first business card in just my name (business is pushing it...travel planning). I only put $50 as the income but was still approved with a $17000 limit. Go figure.

I must have missed part of the survey!! I don't remember that question about referrals I would have used had the reddit group been set up before. I have used referrals from people here on the DIS before the reddit group was set up and had DIS friends use my referrals prior as well. So, we've found ways to support each other before but the reddit group makes it much, much easier!
