I love credit cards so much!

To further widen the time off difference between me and DH, I got my first paystub of the year this morning and my PTO earned was higher... upon investigation on the HR website, it appears they may have increased it a bit for the <1yr and 1-4yrs categories. So 2 more vacation days a year for me :)

But that now means that I get 22 days off plus the ability to earn 2 extra days, and DH gets 10 plus 2 personal days. Boo.

I'm in the same boat! I get 23 days off a year, but DH only gets 8....ughhhhh

This is my fear as my dh is wanting to change jobs (and us move back to TX where we are from...). He currently gets 6 weeks vacation plus every other Friday off (works 9 hours M-TR) and his work closes the week between Christmas and NY's. I'm so worried he is going to end up with a job where he gets 2 weeks off and that is it :(

Oh wow! That would be a hard change. We've talked about moving out of state and that's a fear of mine too. I've been lucky so far with my two jobs but my current company doesn't have a location in the places we've talked about... the biggest things to keep me in the company are the decent benefits and vacation time (and the prospect of new management, which may add more reasons to stay in the company haha)

Something definitely to be said for a great vacation/benefit plan. I don't think I'd leave my job due to the vacation time I get. DH started a new career last year so he is starting from the bottom again. It stinks, especially when I want to do all this traveling with my new points hobby ;) 6 weeks is awesome, it will be hard to start over with less I'm sure. Maybe he can negotiate more vacation time right from the start.

Dh works for a nonprofit, which has already been struggling the last few years as charitable giving is down and I think is going to suffer more under the new tax reform bill, so benefits are awful other than vacation time. That's all they really can afford to give so they give that generously! And I love that. I'd rather my dh make less $$ but have more time with our family. There is no way to transfer as this is their only location so if he leaves, we lose that time.

I did PC to the Delta Blue, because my Delta card is 11 years old and I didn't want to lose the AoA, so I just did that, and gave up the chance of a new bonus.

This is another point to consider. Can you confirm that the accounts stayed the same after the PC? This is confusing to me -- the Blue account would stay the same as the Gold account for purposes of credit reporting but a different account for purposes of getting a sign-up bonus. Am I making any sense?

Yes, everything stayed the same, even the account numbers on all the cards on my account. I also wondered if it would be different for a sign up bonus, since I got the sign up bonus as a gold, not Blue, and 11 years ago (which is before they stopped letting you get a bonus only once)

I got SPG Biz Amex with $200 as my revenue and was instantly approved with a $15k limit. I was nervous applying but didn't need to be! I just had very occasional ebay sales as my business.

I haven't started the really looking into the app process so I don't know, is that $200 a month or is that $200 annually? If $200 annually that's pretty impressive.

Chase put in a new rule last year that you could only have one of the Sapphire cards so currently, the only way to get both bonuses without cancelling a card and waiting the 24 mos is to get both the CSR and CSP at the same time (apply back to back using different browsers). Otherwise, you have to choose which card is best for you.

Right, but I think I may have been thinking wrong now that I re-think about it. I was thinking 24 months from open. So if I had opened a CSR 1/2017 I'd be able to get CSP 2/2019 after closing or PC'ing the CSR this year. But I bet that's 24 months from closing it, isn't it? So that wouldn't have worked cuz it would have only been about 12 months since close. :headache:

Yes, as long as you transfer the CSR or CSP UR points to the Freedom account you'd keep them. Yes, they would then be worth only 1 cent per point. If cash back is your goal then that is fine. If travel is your goal, you might be shooting yourself in the foot. Freedom points cannot be transferred to airlines or hotels. With my travel goals, this paramount. If I have 50,000 points from a cash back card, like the Freedom they would be worth $500. However, if I take the same 50,000 points on a card that allows me to transfer to an airline, like CSR or CSP, I can get a to or from Europe on a saver award ticket in first class that would cost about $10,000. I've done exactly that numerous times by transferring my UR points to United or BA etc. On a cash back card I would need one million points to pay for the same flight I could get by transferring 50,000 UR points to the airline....

So my thought was (which, as above, I think was wrong anyway :) ) to park the UR points from the CSR in my CF if I cancelled it because I wouldn't be using them for travel until 2019 anyway. Then when I opened the CSP I could transfer those parked points there to get the better travel benefit. But I think it's all a wash anyway since A. it was in the past and B. I don't think my plan would have worked anyway. If I want both bonuses I'd have to try for both at the same time and suck up the min spends. So we'll see what this year holds for Chase changes, it'll probably change again by the time I'm in a position to actually apply :)

Just had to share to the group. I've been using the SW credit card churning for quite a few years, but just recently I got into this a bit more. DH and I currently both have the CSR and we used the lounge benefit for the first time this past week on a trip to San Diego. Our home airport is STL (St Louis) and they don't have a lounge, but in terminal 2 for Southwest, the Pasta House restaurant is covered for $28 per person for you and a guest. Since DH and I both have the card, all 5 of us were able to eat an amazing breakfast while we waited for our boarding to begin. Since our total was under the $112, it didn't matter that we had 5 people instead of the 4 guests that it was supposed to accommodate.

Anyway, nothing too big, but I was excited to be able to use it - and also surprised that our airport offered anything at all for lounge access for the CSR. I wish there would have been something for the San Diego airport, but unfortunately, they didn't have anything for our wait on our return home.

Excellent! I think those restaurant alternatives to lounges are phenomenal deals. I wish we had a PP option in Hartford.

What is the easiest way to find out about these restaurant alternatives to lounges?

is anyone else having issues logging into chase today? first my acct locked me out for no reason, and I had to call in to unlock it...then I tried Dh's a few hours later and got the 'we don't recognize your computer' page.... again for no reason....

I've logged in a couple different times today with no issues.

They’re all listed on the Priority Pass website - just search by airport. Off-hand, the only ones I know of are Denver, STL, and MSP.

For everyone who maxed out the Best Buy Chase pay promo: check your beat buy rewards account and see what you might have. I had $20 in rewards which I was able to cash in for a Disney Gift card.

Great. Thanks. I somehow almost always manage to forget about my Priority Pass benefits. But I did remember when we were in the Alaska concourse at Sea-Tac recently and we were able to access the Alaska Lounge during a significant layover. Now I just need to remember to check for restaurant benefits...
