Anyone in our Reddit group with Southwest cards I highly encourage you to see my post from today in our DIS churners discussion thread.
Anyone in our Reddit group with Southwest cards I highly encourage you to see my post from today in our DIS churners discussion thread.
I'll post an update on how to join DISchurners shortly.I'd love to join the group! Where do I need to look?
I need some advice. I'd like to get the Chase Freedom card for the 5% bonuses.
Here are the cards I currently have
Chase Disney Visa - don't use it but it is old and has no fee so it sits
Chase Sapphire Reserve- Opened 1/1/17
Chase Sapphire Preferred- Opened April 2017
Chase Southwest Premium had since 2013, just paid the yearly fee this week
I'm also an AU on my husband's Chase Sapphire Preferred that was opened 4/16
So I'm currently 3/5 with Chase if you include the AU.
Should I just open a Chase Freedom and try to get the $150 sign up bonus or would it be better to ask if the CSP opened 4/17 could be downgraded to a Freedom card?
I do not plan to keep the CSP past March of this year. I will keep my CSR card though, even with the $450 fee it is worth it!
Thanks so much for your responses! To explain a little more, I'm at 4/24 now (assuming the SW biz card doesn't count towards the 5/24 - correct?). I'm hoping to make the last Chase card count as I won't be under 5/24 again until Nov. 2018. The Plus card actually already renewed in Dec. and I paid the annual fee, I just don't really have a reason to keep it and would like the annual fee back, plus I'd I'd like to be able to apply for it again in 2 years or so. As for the checking acct, I don't really use it for anything, I solely signed up for it for a bonus, and it's just kind of a pain to transfer money every paycheck. Also I'd like to be eligible for another signup bonus sometime if it's offered, and I believe you have to have not had an acct for 6 months. I'll keep both open until I apply for the Premier and then look at closing them. I'll definitely checkout the disboards churners page on Reddit when I'm ready to apply, I think I saw a link a few pages back. Thanks again!![]()
considering the JB 60k offer.... thought maybe use it when I run short on SWA points (I have the CP thru the next year still) what do you think?I'm low on those points, so is it worth an app at the moment? Or should I hold a 'space' for another Barclay general travel card, since I have the SWA thing down pat right now? I'm leaning towards general travel credits right now since a cruise is a possibility- I want those 60k points, just not sure if I need them! edited to add..... I see that I waited too long and it was supposed to go thru 12/31- but when I googled the offer it pulled right up for the 60k....what do you think? old link and it won't work?
After someone mentioned upthread using Apple Pay to send $ to a spouse/family member/friend to get the 5X points without actually spending, I looked into the terms of Apple Pay Cash. It works as both a virtual prepaid card (for using Apple Pay at merchants) or as a funds transfer service to send P2P payments to another user's Apple Pay Cash account. You can fund a P2P payment with a credit card, but there is a 3% fee for doing so. So, you'd only net 2% back if you use the Freedom card to send a P2P payment. Not worth it. There's no fee for funding a P2P payment with a prepaid card, so you could potentially use Apple Pay to buy prepaid cards (if the store allows it) with the Freedom for 5X points then liquidate them through Apple Pay Cash. You'd just be out the fee to purchase the prepaid card. Still, not sure it's worth the hassle. But it's possibly an option if anyone wants to try it. (I don't.)
It's the "Wallet" app on your iPhone. Add your card to that & then you can use it for Apple Pay.

Also you'd want to list your status as "3/24" not 3/5 - you have gotten 3 Chase cards in 24 months. One other thing to mention - you haven't opened ANY other cards with other issuers in the last 24 months have you (i.e. American Express, Citi, BankofAmerica, etc.?). If so, those would could too just an FYI.
Now to your question...For you personally this is really a question of "how hard are you going to play the game." Are you going to start opening lots of Chase Cards for signup bonuses? If so - the Freedom may not be a good use of a slot...for example opening the Southwest Plus card, a Chase Ink Plus Biz Card, and a Marriott card would likely be much more lucrative in terms of signup bonus value. HOWEVER, if you aren't planning to hit 3-4 Chase cards in the next year or so (or if you don't care about your 5/24 status because you're going to hit AMEX cards or something else) then don't pass up the $150 now. My wife and I both used a 5/24 slot on a Chase Freedom card and have no regrets doing so as it fit our plan and was a nice little return on our min. spend. For others it simply may not make sense or fit their strategy.
Couple odd questions:
1. If you have the CIP, can you get the CIC? tWife has the CIP but would be better with the CIC, but isn't at one year yet to PC it.
2. tWife has a CSR and thus isn't eliglble for the CSP bonus (or is she eligible once she PCs the CSR?). Would it make sense to add her as an AU to my CSP for the small bonus?
3. With the CSR you get $100 credit for select check or for the global pass. Is that annual? I got Select check last year, can I use it now for the global pass or to get global pass for the kids?
4. I'm at 3/24 right now and I want the Freedom card, but Chase wont PC my CSP, so I'm applying for it. Bad idea to use one of my coveted 5/24 slots on the Freedom?
5. What are the requirements for tWife to transfer any of her UR points to me? Does she need to have a Sapphire card or just any Chase card?

Thank you! I think I'll go ahead and just apply for the card. I'm OK with being 4/24 for now. I think next year (2019) I'd like to try to earn the SW companion pass again but I should have 2 spots open to do that after April of this year.
Yeah - just know that you're potentially giving up the opportunity earn a larger bonus on another card. If you're ok with that now then go for it! You know your future plans and when you'll have a slot open up so it sounds like you've thought that through.Thank you! I think I'll go ahead and just apply for the card. You just need to be in the same household. I transfer DH's Freedom and CIP to my CSR every month when they are earned. It's simple, you combine the points and indicate the credit card number that you would like them moved to. For some reason, my CIP will not transfer directly to my CSR (I receive an error.) I either move them to one of DH's cards and then combine from there or SM Chase and ask them to move them for me.Couple odd questions:

#2: Just add yourself as MiddleName LastName - don't get an AU card on her report.Couple odd questions:

Smack my head moment. Someone here (? lain) mentioned signing up for Virgin Americas mileage program because Alaska Air was giving away miles as they converted to one program. Signed up for both DH and myself Got an email today giving us each 10k miles, which is enough for a trip from say Seattle to Vancouver, which might be handy as I haven't found direct flight from OHare to Vancouver. Bad news, I forgot to sign DS up for an account, so I guess he's walking
You have been added - welcome!Thank you guys for all of the information that keeps coming through, especially for us newbies! Since I'm new here, and not yet up to my 10 post status to PM, my Reddit account is the same name as my account here. If @SouthFayetteFan or @Albort could approve me there, that would be great!
Thanks for the consideration!

Is the Barclay Arrival the only true chip and pin you can use properly in Europe? We'll use the train to\from dlp and the metro and I want to make things easier.
Good luck! A good first step would be to read the wiki on r/DISchurners as well as some of the information on r/churning.Woohoo!! Thank you!
Now, time to learn!
