I love credit cards so much!

Quick question, I know this has been discussed somewhere in the past, but I've finally got my PP card and am flying into MCO for a quick Disney trip at the end of the week. I'm flying SW and thinking terminal B would be the best lounge to stop at, is that the one that sometimes you don't have to go through security but if an international arrival comes through then you would need to go through security again. Unfortunately, I'm the only one in my group that has TSA precheck so if I stop it would be a very quick solo stop. Thanks for any help!

5,000 IHG Points just for sharing a picture on Twitter/Instagram...

Go here: https://homewithihg.com/
Follow instructions:
1) Tweet or Instagram a picture of yourself at home or at any IHG property using #HomeWithIHG #ad #Rewardsoffer @IHGRewardsClub
2) Visit IHGRewardsClub.com/ClaimMyPoints by December 31, 2018 and sign in with the social account you used for your post

I did it twice just now on each of our accounts...points may take 2 weeks to post it says. 10k points is definitely worth the time it took me to do this!

EDIT: I also think in the rules it says you have to follow @IHGRewardsClub on twitter or whatever so make sure you do that too...

EDIT2: don't delay...the rules indicate they'll only give 5k points to the first 10,000 people so this may not last long...

Such a good point! In my current life phase I forget (despite the name of the boards ) that people are still visiting Disney and that's a priority for travel:o Right now, I'm waiting completely (im)patiently for DD to figure out where she's attending university and that's going to determine (to a point) our hotel use/needs/cards for 4 years. Gainesville or Tallahassee? Keep the Starriott cards. Boston? Look into Hyatt card and keep R-C. St Andrews? Curse Chase for discontinuing the Fairmont and keep Starriott. Will I keep flying Delta or switch to American? So many decisions rest on this :rotfl:!

On a Disney related note, DD will be going with her Quiz Bowl Team to the State Tournament at Disney in April. Tickets, food, lodging at BWI are all paid for-crazy! Not surprisingly, she specifically told me I was not invited. At all. I cannot grace any of the World with my presence. I have to say, with the exception of school taxes, this is probably the closest we're getting to a "free" trip. Is it wrong to hope it rains? :D
Isn’t it just so convenient with how the timing lines up with exactly when you’re going to [insert awesome place here]? ;)

Some chatter on Reddit about Amex emailing targeted people the chance to give “pre approved” referrals (approval is not guaranteed) on select cards. Wonder if that will avoid the pop-up?

I got an email saying my DL Gold Amex would give 12,500 points per referral. Used to offer 10k, idk when it changed. Anyone looking to refer from an amex double check your current offers to make sure you’re maxing your self-referral!

Yep, tonight DH got that offer to give pre-approved referrals to his "friends" from his platinum card. I don't get the pre-approval/not guaranteed thing.

Okay... trying to add my bank account to pay my CIP and it's telling me they can't verify that I own the checking account... even though this is all under the login with my SW biz which also pays out of that checking account?

Tried to log on to DW's Chase account today - access denied due to recent activity. As in your case, it turned out they were unable to verify ownership of her linked checking account, despite having made transfers from that account before and having it linked to her credit cards for years. I think someone at Chase was bored and decided to create a bunch of problems in peoples accounts. Funny part is, DW is currently overseas on business and she knows next to nothing about the accounts she 'owns'. So she is on speakerphone with Chase trying to get this all sorted out, whilst maintaining an open facetime connection with me - and I am giving her verbal prompts, written notes and various hand signals to be able to answer the questions from the Chase rep. Got it sorted eventually, though at first they were demanding she go into a branch to sort it out. If this is the reward for opening a Chase checking and savings, then they won't be open for long. Thanks for the $600, see ya!

More fruitful was my BBP finally showing up - got it activated and linked to my existing business login, and on the last activation page, up pops the offer for 2000MR after spending $50 at Amazon. Amex...that'll do nicely!! :)

I got the Citi Premier recently, was just playing around with the TY redemptions. The hotel redemption look horrible! Points are supposed to be worth 1.25x, but what I'm seeing compared to Expedia rate looks like (Expedia rate x 1.25) + tax = TY rate! What's the point then?? :sad2:

Flights looks ok (i.e. not marked up). Is this just the way it works?

*sigh* I’m sitting in around 40k TY points and was planning to use them on hotels at 1.25x but I really hadn’t given it much thought and have yet to play around with their rates. :(

Do you have any interest in transferring your points to any of their partners? I transferred some to etihad (there was a week & a half of praying availablity for my flight wouldn’t disappear!).

I got an email tonight also. I deleted without reading it all. Wanted me to refer my friends to my spg. Not sure if was personal or biz.

Haha- I deleted my DL one too. Rescued it from the trash to check for the pre-approved (or not?) language- which it did not have- and that’s when I noticed the referral bonus had changed. Obviously Amex has been too spammy with their Refer A Friend emails!

I don’t think we have talked about it (if so feel free to ignore) but Chase is running an Amazon deal where you use UR redemption and save $15 off of $60. I linked my FU to Amazon yesterday after transferring to it 3 UR’s. Did connect with points. 24 hours later when got on was banner to pay with UR’s. Connected and paid with .01. Only caveat is that it is like the Amex deal in that purchases must be sold by Amazon. But all in all worth it as little effort to save $15. And now I am DONE looking at Amazon. Since last week I have spent way too much. So many good deals...

I wonder, does the Aspire free night work the same way? Actually 6-8 weeks after AF as well? I assume so.

I know you didn't ask and don't have the free night yet anyway, but definitely don't use it at the RI Central Park (unless you just fall in love with it). The Lux free night is up to 50k, so you have more options. If you wanted the same general area I'd probably pick the W Times Square. The RI Central Park is about 10 blocks further uptown from the W, but it's all roughly Times Square/Theater District - busy, lots of restaurants, and (biggest perk) 2 blocks to Hell's Kitchen.

We prefer not to stay right in the middle of Times Square, so I'd probably pick the Westin Grand Central with a 50k night. But frankly given the options at the 50k level I might use that in another city entirely (the NYC options at that level are not super great).

We got our aspire free nights a couple of months after getting the card, so I'm assuming the second year would be the same way, a couple of months after you pay the annual fee?

A problem only people on this thread would understand... DH got a mailer from AMEX saying 10K points if he lets them change his card so he can pay over time. Which card? We can't tell. It says his platinum. Which platinum? :rotfl:

Is there any downside to accepting this offer, assuming we can figure out which card it's for?

thank you to whomever it was that said to chat with amex about the missing $200 att credit. I got it!!!

Well, you had a nicer person than I did, because I just chatted and he said that my purchase wasn't eligible. "This merchant has been excluded from the campaign because It is for Wireline products".

Yours was just Directv and internet like mine, right?

My sample size is small, but I had an online order from Macy's trigger a $15 payout from RMN. I returned the merchandise, but no clawback from RMN.

And with my online purchase from Macy's, RMN said that I was getting the cash back, but then a few days later said my purchase didn't qualify.

When you get that offer you take those points ASAP and laugh all the way to the bank. Easiest AMEX points you’ll ever earn :) NO downside whatsoever.

Thanks for sharing this. I think we are going to try this. There are a few things I want from Amazon and I didn't even think about getting them when we did the 500 for 400 AMEX deal with Amazon.

How did it post to your card? Mine said AT&T but nothing about being wireless though that's part of the bill.
