I love credit cards so much!

if lounge interest you, DEN has AA lounge and UA lounge. Both could be accessed with the premium credit cards.

I have never been in an airport lounge in my life so not really sure if it interest me or not lol :) I don't even know what to expect. I think I am just surprised with an airport the size of Denver, we seem to be missing some big lounges. We never fly UA or AA so those cards probably don't make much sense for me unless we branch out to Hawaii or Int'l. We used to fly both before SW came to Denver. I am flying to Houston in a couple of weeks. I guess I should look up if they have a PP lounge...if I didn't throw that card away...

Thank you, Lain. You are always so helpful! Ok, so I will hold out for a 100k offer on the Amex card. $550 is a pretty steep AF imo. Depending on the usefulness of the MR points, which I am so clueless about, I may or may not be willing to keep a card with that fee. I am still on the fence with the CSR but leaning towards keeping it so I cannot justify both cards. Do you or your wife have the CSR? Thinking you must...If so, will you keep the CSR and the Amex Platinum?

I don't think DEN has the Priority Pass lounge either :( We are missing out for such a large airport.

Thanks for the links. Will check those out.

I'm going to chime in since at the moment we have CSR, Amex Plat personal and Amex Plat business. If I had to choose to only have one high AF card it would be CSR, hands down. The CSR is a stays in my wallet, comes with me on vacation Rick Rolled card. Those of you who remember, I was willing to wait a year to fall under 5/24 just to get that card. Instead, we went the CPC route to get it, which is completely insane! But that actually wound up being a good move in the end. So, for the practical reasons I would keep that card:

I value UR points higher than I value MR points. Given the choice to earn 3x on dining and travel between MR and UR, it will always be UR.
Paying with points for travel is easier with UR. Even when Amex business plat was offering the 50% bonus back on paying with points, you still had to have the full amount of points to pay with and then wait a few weeks to get 50% of them back. Now, they've done away with that and it's 35% back. Meh.
The $300 travel credit is easier to obtain than the travel credits from Amex or Citi since just about anything remotely travel related will trigger it and I am not saddled with airline gift cards that I may or may not use throughout the year. Therefore it is truly a $150 AF card.
CSR offers primary car rental insurance. Amex Plat does not, theirs is secondary.
CSR offers coverage for baggage delay if bags are 6 hours late at $100 per day up to 5 days. Amex Plat does not offer baggage delay coverage.
CSR offers trip delay coverage at $500 per ticket. Amex Plat does not offer trip delay coverage.
CSR offers up to $10,000 for trip cancellation/interruption. Amex Plat does not offer coverage.
CSR offesr better purchase protection coverage, up to $10,000 within 120 days vs Amex Plat's up to 90 days.
CSR has better return protection $500 vs Amex Plat's $300.
CSR offers price protection and Amex Plat does not.

CSR's Priority Pass lounge access allows you to bring unlimited guests. Amex's PP lounge access is only for the card holder and additional guests would be $27 each.

Ok so those are my reasons as to why I'd keep one over the other if I had to choose. Hope this helps :goodvibes

The Amex Platinum is what you're getting mailers for. DON'T take the 60k MR points offer! It's the same as the public offer that you can get just by applying on the website. Since Amex signup bonuses are generally once per lifetime, you should never settle for a lower public offer unless you really need the card benefits. There are lots of DPs from people who were successful in triggering a 75k or 100k offer using various tricks. Recently, DoC posted a rundown of the personal and biz Platinums and how to get higher offers for them: http://www.doctorofcredit.com/get-1...usiness-american-express-platinum-cards-ymmv/.

Amex recently raised the AF on the personal Platinum to $550, which is a hefty AF any way you look at it. It's partially offset by a $200 airline fee credit (which is not as flexible as the CSR's travel credit), which a lot of people have had success redeeming for gift cards to certain airlines. When Amex raised the AF by $100, they also added a $200 Uber credit (parsed out over the year at $15/month and $20 more in December), which I just use every month for UberEATS. My wife uses the Centurion Lounge access benefit when traveling frequently, which is much nicer than most Priority Pass Lounges, but there is no Centurion Lounge in DEN so that won't be of much use to you. Amex also includes Priority Pass Lounge access, but you already get that with the CSR and CSR's pass is much more generous (unlimited guests vs. Amex's two guests limit). The Platinum also includes automatic Hilton and SPG/Marriott Gold status upgrades, which is nice since we tend to stay with these chains when we travel. There's also a fee credit for TSA Precheck and Global Entry, but again, you already get that with the CSR. Still, I'm finding a lot of value in my personal Platinum and will probably keep it despite the fee (but not before asking for a retention offer).

All that said, in terms of Amex Offers, I find that I've gotten more and better offers from my Premier Rewards Gold. I've gotten useful offers that I've used for gift cards for Best Buy, Home Depot, Lowe's, Staples, Jo-Ann's, CVS, and now Walmart and Jet, but not the really good Target offer about a year or two ago. I know some really good Staples, OM/OD, Home Depot, and Lowe's offers seem to go only to biz cards. I don't know that there's any method to targeted offers. FrequentMiler recently posted a blog that basically recommended to get every type of Amex card (personal and biz, MR and non-MR) and lots of Amex cards to improve your odds of getting all the offers: http://frequentmiler.boardingarea.com/2017/05/16/amex-offers/.

Thank you for this info!

Me too! Please share if you are successful in getting a 100k offer, and if you get any beginner tips for MR. Two more Chase cards and then I will change my focus to AMEX.

Thanks for putting this comparison together and for sharing the AMEX offers in your PP.

I'd hold out until you see a 100,000 MR offer from Amex Plat unless you've already had the card before and this is an offer without the "once per lifetime" language. I grabbed the 60K offer because I'd already had the card at 100K and was targeted for the bonus again. I see some of my best offers that are useful on the Amex Everyday card. I have the no fee version for the moment. It's the only other MR card I have besides the Amex Plat personal and business cards ... for now.

I'm at the other end of the spectrum...I waited and tried DOC's tricks multiple times and never ever ever (as in over 2 months :) ) got the 100,000. I broke down and got 60,000 MR points and am super happy with my Amex Platinum. I've maxed out the airline credit fee, and MR are hugely important since I very very rarely fly AA or UA and have never flown with SW (yes, loyal Delta girl for the most part!). I'm always trying to garner skymiles (aka skypesos) and CSR isn't helpful with that unless you want to get super creative (ie deal with AirFrance or Korean Air csrs- I have and not a fun experience for me). So I'd advise you to look at how you fly, where you fly and who you fly. I added my mother, daughter and husband as AUs so they can access SkyClubs when they're flying even without me. Another perk with AmexPlat is I now have Marriott and SPG gold status-which has added points/waived fees in one unusual case actually from an issue with Chase UR/welcome gifts, etc. I wouldn't go out of my way to earn hotel loyalty status but the immediate status is nice and right now I'm really enjoying the Crossover Rewards between Delta and SPG. I'd say I've easily received $1500 value from the $550+$175 (AU) fee. My point is, everyone is a little different. I don't regret the 100,00 CSR bonus I earned but the MR with Amex and subsequent perks are more beneficial in my case.

I thought I'd keep CSR for the long term but now I'm not sure, fortunately have a couple of months to decide. That's what's nice about this hobby, you can individualize it for you.

I have never been in an airport lounge in my life so not really sure if it interest me or not lol :) I don't even know what to expect.

If you have any questions about Delta Skyclubs, I'll be happy to answer them. This summer I've traveled so much they're like my second home. I'll even go to different ones in ATL because some are better than others at refreshing the mac and cheese. :rolleyes1 It's a sad life I know!

We got lucky and were able to jump on them when we found them before they disappeared. The card match tool never worked for us either.

You make an excellent point with regards to MR airline transfer partners. If I were saddled with a Delta hub nearby, then I would have definitely have to re-evaluate everything and see where I stood. If that were the case, I would probably value MR points higher than UR points to accumulate my Sky Pesos. In my case, neither UR or MR transfer directly to AA and I am near an AA hub. So, I do have to get a little creative there. SPG is the only variable transfer program that has points transferring to AA and they have no bonus spend categories. That said, I've also benefited a time or two with SPG and Delta crossover rewards.

Fortunately, I won't have to choose between one or the other. DH loves the GoGo passes, Fine Resort and Hotels benefit, gold SPG, Hilton and Marriott. We both love lounge access and have a Centurion here in MIA and have been able to enjoy Sky Club access with the card numerous times. So, he won't be giving up the Platinum card and we are both keeping the CSR. If I wound up ditching the Platinum card, we'd just make me an AU along with my mom and brother.

Absolutely, that is the cool thing about this hobby. There are so many ways to make it work for so many different situations. I think that is why it is so nice that everyone here shares their perspectives and what works for them and why. I've learned a lot from the travel hacker bloggers but I have also learned a lot from everyone that posts regularly on this thread. You guys are the best! :goodvibes

I do! I do! *raises hand* I was wondering which ones were better. Last month I tried out concourse A and also F. Which do you recommend out of all of them?

I do! I do! *raises hand* I was wondering which ones were better. Last month I tried out concourse A and also F. Which do you recommend out of all of them?

A terminals have 2-one at A 17 and one in the center (why there are 2 so close together I don't know). A Center is quieter but A17 is usually more convenient to me. That said, did I mention that A17 is usually where the families go? A17 has two levels and it can get super noisy on the upper level. Of the two, I usually prefer the center near PF Chang's.

F is great because of the outdoor patio-probably best if it's not hot and humid OR if you're a big airplane geek. Otherwise the restrooms are behind the bar and that's sort of weird to me.

I actually like T because it's used the least in my experience with somehow the freshest food (suspect I timed it just right!). There is sort of a weird entrance to it- small corridor with an elevator that is fairly nondescript so I'm not quiiiite sure I'm getting off a skyclub or some Tower of Terror thing. Overactive imagination much?

In ATL for long stays we usually camp out in F even if we're leaving out of E (and divert there for a final potty break :)), something about F says "sit down and stay awhile..." It's also the only one I've seen with a little freezer with ice cream (not consistently but fun when it's there!).

Airports other than ATL:
SEA has an awesome SkyClub, DTW has three (gate 68 seems to be where I am the most), JFK's in Terminal 2 is okay-nice to get away from the crowds but pretty busy. Terminal 4 has a skydeck to watch planes as well but I've not been there since the rehab. I'm sure I've been to more but SEA sticks out because I've spent so much time there, DTW's has a quirky set up (gate 68) where there's coffee and water, then walk a bit and tea set up then go ALL the way to the back for fridge juices, a couple of beers on tap and WHERE IS THE DIET COKE? From a fountain in a self serve manner. Once I found my diet coke, preferred that set up to asking a bartender. Since nothing about MSP (except crowded), CVG or others stand out guess most are pretty standard. Disclaimer: haven't been to LAX and seen their new one.

Tuesday while we're in ATL with a 10 hour layover DH and I are going to walk the length of the airport, hit a SkyClub, hang out for a bit then repeat until we've done them all (and probably walked 5 miles or so!). Since not every location has the same soups it will be interesting to see which ones have what offerings. Seriously, what else are you going to do during a 10 hour layover, right?

Sorry, an incredibly long discourse on a relatively odd subject I realize. I did hold back before comparing the different cookies so there's that :)

I just used the AMEX eBag credit. We were planning to buy more packing cubes for an upcoming trip so when I saw the offer I figured the time was right. They also had a 20% off sale going on so for some extra savings too. I got the email they applied the credit nearly instantly. Very happy with that.

Oh thank you for posting this! Mile Value had a similar chart but I could barely read it on my screen and when I enlarged it, it was blurry.

Awesome! Thank you for the reviews. I'll have to check out the Sky Club in T next time LOL

Today is also the last day to get 20X on Ebags in the United shopping portal. I've been "mathing" all day on Ebags to get my cart to $75 to trigger the Amex offer but not go too far beyond $75 and stack with the UA portal one card at a time.

Just got insta approval for the CSP. Got the CSR in December, but I have a $4,000 business expense next month so I figured the CSP was a good use for it. I'm just shocked at the credit limits they keep giving me. My total credit limit on all these cards is insane. I could buy a new dang house with credit cards.

I just checked and I am now (after CSP) at 3/24. Is the rule 5/24 mean that I can get two more cards and I'm still okay? How long until I can product change this new CSP to a Freedom?

I think I'm done with regular Chase cards for a while. My wife is starting a home business and will get the Ink soon. My next plans is the IHG and hopefully still get the 80k or 100k offer. Then, I'm thinking about starting the Delta cards since we are near DTW, a Delta hub. Then, IDK maybe those SPGs.

I forgot to sign up for the TSA Pre-Check system. Travel in October. Too late? I am also in Detroit so I can sign up for the Nexus Card system instead which I understand gives you the same TSA Pre-Check benefit. Would that process faster? Would CSR $100 credit apply to that?

I would just sign up for the Global Entry since you get TSA pre-check with it and $100 fee covers it. We did ours in April and just finished the process at the end of June. We could have gone to D.C. To get it finished faster but DH didn't want to make the drive so we waited for our date at BWI. Although they seemed to be taking walk-ins if they weren't busy.

if your DH does not have a legit business, i wouldn't suggest calling... people even don't suggest you to call if you have a legit business. if you do want him to call, make sure you go through this... --> https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/6hclj4/i_survived_the_dreaded_chase_business/
He does have a legit business but I didn't realize he could just wait it out. I thought the message he had to call else there was no chance for approval. I'll just check status for a couple days to see what happens.

judging by data points from flyertalk, it looks like Nexus Cards system will take up to 3 months to approve. Im not sure how Nexus system works though.
GE wait time(less than a week, took 2 weeks for mine) seems super quick but interview may take awhile to schedule. You might be able to snag an interview quickly though(i got mine within a few days of conditional approval.)
I think TSA pre Check is the same as GE.

edit: TSA pre Check is included in GE.

yes, its best to wait it out! If you get the denial, then u can plead your case! :D

@calypso726 Your thoughts on the new Crappy Bank Prestige? 75k is nice, but $7500 is a lot to make in 3 months. Was planning to alternate my premier with the prestige since i want to keep earning TYP points for my choice of airlines.
Seems like a step back from the old card though... :\

I was just about to post a similar question...thoughts on Citi's Prestige? I of course don't need a new card but if there is any sort of advantage to having it other than the 4th night free I'd love someone's take on it.

i have the premier, the only other benefit ive found is the retention policy. Premier only adds +2 for 6 month up to 35k. Prestige is +5 for 6 month up to 35k. Which is pretty amazing. 7x for travel, 6x for dining, 5x everything else.
Only thing i can see thats great is the 4th night free can be booked online now. Prestige also has the best insurance out of all the premium cards(CSR/Amex plat). 4 hours trip delay, i also heard that if your flight gets cancelled and what not, the insurance will provide money for you to rebook your ticket basically. pretty sweet insurance backing. I also heard their insurance is a lot more lienant with than Chases. Im still having a battle with my trip cancellation claim.
categories are worse than CSR though... but insurance +4th night seems to make it up.

thats all i know, still would like to know @calypso726 opinion though... :]

I will likely be cancelling mine come AF time, if not sooner @Albort It is definitely a huge step back. The fact that they stopped making the TY points worth 1.6 for AA was enough to make me not even consider putting spend on the card. I don't know that I'd go for a 75K TY point bonus at $7500. That seems pretty steep for a card that has no real value to me. If I needed a back up plan for flights, like I did the Hawaii trip and had a large amount of spend to make then I suppose I'd go for it. Might be worth it for you since you can transfer directly to an airline you use regularly. If that were the case for me, then I'd suck it up and go for it LOL

@tink1970 - They even devalued the 4th night free. It's no longer a true 4th night free. It's a discount on the average of 4 nights and doesn't include resort taxes. Meh.

Thanks...I keep thinking there has to be something that Citi believes is "worth it" but IMHO since I rarely stay 4 nights anywhere unless there's a lost luggage issue (I'm looking at YOU Air France :)) that's not a big perk for me. You and @Albort reinforced my belief...although it will be interesting to see how some bloggers will present it

i have the premier, the only other benefit ive found is the retention policy.

While this sounds great in theory, Frequent Miler pointed out that through the concierge service, you could add discounts to the booking like AAA, corporate or government and what not. In addition, you were able to earn loyalty points form the hotel on the 4th night. This may no longer be the case.
