Funny story - my boss is leaving, and we just found out who his replacement is. New boss currently works with a friend of mine, so the friend sent me a note with some scoop on the new boss (all good). This friend goes to the same conference at Disney that I do (we know each other because we are in the same line of work), so I wrote back that as long as the new boss signs off on me going to the conference at the GF, we'd get along fine. My friend writes back that New Boss is a DVC member, so I should be all set :rotfl:

Has anyone found any good cat 1-4 Marriott redemptions for their 7 night package? I am looking at the first week in June or sometime in July and truthfully just randomly looking at places we may like to go. Right now I am looking at Boulder, CO or St. Louis. Could we entertain ourselves for a week in either of these locations?

Boulder is a fun college town set against the foothills with lots of outdoor activities (hiking, biking, climbing are the big ones). Lots of places to eat, Pearl Street is an outdoor mall with cute shops that usually has street performances going on. Estes Park is only 45 minutes away - it's a town at an entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park, and has the Stanley Hotel where The Shining was filmed. You could canoe on Lakes Estes. You could go river rafting 45 minutes away in Clear Creek Canyon. A lot of the things to do focus on outdoor adventures, there's not really museums/theme parks/stage...those would be in Denver which is 30 minutes away. This area you really need a car to get around since public transportation is less than adequate (except there is a good coach bus that goes between downtown Denver and downtown Boulder that is $4.50 one way).

Our TSA precheck was super easy to get into. They rent a room from the local train station that's about 5 miles from my house and appointments were a week out or so. Considering I am an hour from Portland (where the airport, shopping, and all good giftcard deals on the planet are ) it was refreshing to have a place so conveniently close!

Oh what a dramatic morning I have had. :crazy2:
Hawaii DCL was sold out first thing this morning and it isn't even open to the public. After much refreshing I was able to finally get a room. Then I refreshed a bunch more and got a 2nd room. So we are booked, though in GTY rooms and the price obviously went up since Monday since it was selling so dang fast so it is more than I want to pay. I have a 3 day hold to think about it I guess. I am sure the next time they do Hawaii they will jack prices way higher since this went so well.
As plan B I also booked a southern carib from San Juan. It is a significant savings over Hawaii and something I always wanted to do.
Now time to catch up on the rest of this thread!

Applied for the CIC for the millionth time after I lowered credit limits by another 8,000 and I have the two week message. I’m really hoping this gets approved.

Then I’ll get the CSP and finally reach over 5/24 territory. I’m excited for the Disney Visa and getting a ton of AA miles.

nice, when i did GE for my mom, we just so happen to visit Alaska and Fairbanks's GE center was always open for appointments. My mom said all they did was just chat and the guy processed her GE within a few minutes.

the GrAAvy train! CHOO CHOO!!!

Gaaaahhhhhh I was so scared to app for my SW personal so soon, but approved! Whoohooo! That takes a load off. Now I will have the CP in time for Dec and hopefully Thanksgiving too, depending on when the statement cuts. Fingers crossed!

ETA: Shows 1st payment due 11.26, so I think statement will close 11/1 (according to the article I referenced). Whoohoo!

What happened to all that hate about being at sea for 5 days?

Yes as others have said, you can call and apply Disney GCs. Our Alaska cruise is with Costco. I booked like a peasant on Disney website then called Costco and transferred to them. I clarified with the Costco rep that I could pay with Disney GC, Visa or Mastercard (I think Discover is an option on their regular website but not travel)

I booked on DCL myself too. No way a Costco rep would keep on the line refreshing refreshing refreshing. I will transfer it over.

Yay! My 6k SW anniversary points have posted to my RR account! Already sent the SM to close the account. Now I just need my other 3k to post and then I will close that CC.
how long after your AF did the points post? DH got the AF on 10/1.

Not in Boulder, but I am looking at these two both Cat 4: one in Colorado Springs and one in Tucson

haha, good question!

I will say that seeing the coast of Oahu from the ocean, with the skyline of buildings along downtown, Kakaako, to Waikiki against the backdrop of the Ko‘olau mountains is really a sight to behold. And if the weather is nice, it’s just really, really breathtaking. You can catch any number of charters and tours on the island to get that experience, but I can only imagine coming in on a DCL ship.

I thought that phrase wasn’t allowed here lol. But yes I’m going on in on the GrAAvy train. I have finally been getting my own mailers.
What do you think triggered the mailers? I have the Citi Biz, Aviator Biz... Been speculating trips on AA site. I haven't booked anything but don't want to do that just to get a mailer.

Congratulations :jumping1::cheer2::jumping1:party:

What was your timing? I just got the CSR in Sep and will be flying SW in 2 weeks. Thinking of SW personal on the flight if the higher bonus is still there but will be within 30 days of CSR. Probably best to wait until later as I do not need it until May next year. Just would be easier with the higher personal bonus.

I made some AA accounts with fake names and my address. It took awhile to start getting them. People say it’s three months but mine was probably about four.

Oh I’ll have to check on that! We do have a target red card

I'm slow, but I had another thought for your Air BnB GC's. Do you have some Discover cashback? Airbnb is a redemption option, 45 gets you 50, 90 gets you 100; both eGC and GC available.

I probably wouldn't be charging up the Discover to get them, but if you had some CB already not allocated, here's a potential use for it.

ETA: oh an a reminder for others, same options for Hotels .com but eGC only.
