I love credit cards so much!

And this is my beef with Disney. You have to decide over 6 months early when you want ice cream. Seriously??? I just think it is getting ridiculous, but clearly there are still many people who love it enough that they don't mind. Don't shun me people.

I won't shun you! I totally agree. Especially since you are expected to book your ADR before the park hours are finalized. I don't even know what I want for dinner tonight, let alone where and when I want to eat on April 2, 2019.

And yes all of them paid for by CC.

Is there really any other way? :rotfl:

Help! DH upgraded his CSP to CSR last week. Cards arrived today. There is one with my name! I do not want to be AU and use a 5/24 spot. DH insists he did not ask for a card for me. How do I un-AU myself and make sure it does not go on my credit report (and how would it when they didn’t ask for a SS#?)

I have done it before, took a week or so for a dispute with Experian. But how would I be an AU without my SSN? (I am 100% certain DH did not give them that. While I may have memorized his, he barely knows his own, not mine)
Also I thought there was a charge for CSR AU?
How old is his CSP? Also, were you previously an AU on his CSP?

I called Barclays recon just now and am willing to accept their reason for my denial. It was because I didn’t have enough spend on my Aviator Biz, which I knew was a distinct possibility. She said with some additional spend over the next couple statements I should try again. We’ll see if the 50k offer is still around then. She did say that they did not pull my credit report at all, it was based only on my history with Barclays, so I’m fine with that.

I'm pretty tempted to do Portofino - just looks like a nice property, and relaxing. It is slightly more expensive for our dates, but not a huge difference. Looking forward to the Hogwarts Express - definitely going to do the p2p tix.

I also need to figure out where to eat. I think on the day we are in the parks I'm going to try to do both the Leaky Cauldron and the Three Broomsticks (one for bfast, the other for a late lunch, probably). I'm guessing the food there won't be all that great, so I'm hoping for a really good (but still kid friendly) meal on Friday night.
Our favorite restaurants that we typically go to each time are Toothsome (love the berries and lemon curd crepes) in Citywalk and Trattoria del Porto for pasta cucina at Portofino. I actually thought Three Broomsticks wasn’t too bad for park food.

What has historically been the best offer on the United Card? I see 40,000 points plus $100 statement credit on the United site. Looks like links are just 40,000. I think this will be my next card. Not in a big hurry if anyone thinks it will get better soon. I am at 4/24 now, so will be my last in awhile, my next card drops off in January. I am also 3/12, 1/6 with the last one being CIP in June.

He applied for CSR, downgraded it after a year, now upgraded. I was not AU on his card. I had my own CSP which is now a CF.

ETA actually I just checked the account numbers. He downgraded his original CSR to CFU. He had a separate CSP which is what was upgraded to CSR this time.

Yes - then that is a very strange situation. You should be able to unwind it though.

And unfortunately, yes, even without your SSN they can match that account to your credit report.

Chase doesn't ask for SSN (or at least it's not required, but I don't remember a field for it). They match on name, DOB and address. But for it to just show up like that I'd have to imagine you were an AU on his CSP at some point and they still had some link to that.

(in fact, DoB and address are fairly new ish. when I made hubby a AU on my Freedom some years ago it was just a name. no other identifying info requested at all. I could have put Kermit T Frog and I'm sure I'd have gotten a card)

You were just telling me to get it! :rotfl:

Anyone try the Enrollment on Arrival and doing the interview as part of immigration coming back from an international trip? That sounds fairly painless.

LOL. I'll get it eventually! It just hasn't been anywhere near the top of my to-do list. My wife got it last year, and has started spiting me when we travel together by going through Precheck with our DD5 and leaving me to wait in the regular line like a noob.

Hmm - and were you ever an AU on that CSP? Lol. I ask because I've gotten a card for me or my wife as an AU when upgrading or downgrading before...because I didn't remember adding myself or my wife an AU many years ago.

If the original card is over 2 years old, there is no 5/24 worry here. It's purely about the AU Fee then.

I’ll go back and check the open date on that card later. No time now.
But about the AU fee, see #4...

See, and I always think DH will get his first since I need to change my passport. But I don't think I can convince him to go through precheck without me.

Think I would need a reservation for Beaches and Cream for a lunch time? We had talked about going here a couple years ago. Beginning of March on a Sunday but hate to make reservations as not knowing how quick things go after landing. Wanted to check Jelly Rolls a couple years back but probably pass this round with little ones.

You could always try the Fountain at the Dolphin. They have a similar menu and I have never had to wait for a table at lunch.

With express pass, the parks will not seem as crowded. And it is so worth it! I can't imagine staying onsite and not staying at a resort that has it. We have stayed at all 3 resorts and Portofino is our fave! Hard Rock is the closest to the parks and an easy walk so don't need the boat. We did early entry from Royal Pacific and it was crazy trying to clear security on the walk over. The EP will allow you to easily do the HP area efficiently. I would also do the P2P passes so you can just take the Hogswarts Express over the other HP area. We love USO more than Disney in our house!

I have stayed at Cabana Bay several times during slower seasons. I love this resort and the fact that I can walk over to Volcano Bay for early entry. For Thanksgiving we do have Club level at RPR though.

So it's possible you previously were an AU on it in the past, and when you upgrade they just keep that in affect. Maybe the dates will work out in your favor and you don't have a 5/24 issue.

Regarding the fee...WOW :earseek:...that's really weird!!! When I go to that same screen, it says there is a $75 FEE for each additional authorized user card.

You may have somehow lucked into some crazy loophole here...Hope it all pans out good for you, lol!

What has historically been the best offer on the United Card? I see 40,000 points plus $100 statement credit on the United site. Looks like links are just 40,000. I think this will be my next card. The United Explorer card, and its predecessor the MileagePlus Explorer, varies so widely in its signup bonus. It's ranged from 40k-70k United miles, with or without statement credit. The public offer on the Explorer card is 40k, but recently had targeted offers of 50k and 60k. I don't follow the statement credit offers as closely, but sometimes you can trigger it by doing a dummy booking.

I think the higher targeted offers are done with for now. A few months ago, my wife got mailers for both the 50k and 60k offers and a banner for the 50k offer in her United MileagePlus accounts, but her account is only showing the 40k offer now. (Last year, when United was going through its PR nightmare after bloodying up and dragging one of their passengers off the plane, United extended their 50k public and 70k targeted offers several times.)

There's a link for the Explorer card's 50k in-flight offer here. I shared this with @trenty when it first popped up, and I believe her DH applied for it successfully using the link.

For those who might be interested in the Explorer card, log into your United MileagePlus account to see if you’ve been targeted for a higher than public offer. If not, don’t settle for the public 40k miles offer just yet; there are some tricks that have worked to get you targeted for higher offers on the Explorer/MPE:
  • Fly on United. After you’ve flown on United, many people report getting targeted with higher than public signup offers for the United cards via mailers and on their United account in the following weeks.
  • Make a dummy booking on United. Log into your United account and go through the motions of making a flight booking, and you may see a pop up offer for the Explorer with a higher mileage offer (and possibly statement credit).
  • Make a purchase through the United MileagePlus Shopping portal. People have reported receiving targeted mailers a few weeks after their portal purchase. The MileagePlus Shopping portal includes iTunes, so you could possibly trigger a higher credit card offer by buying a cheap song.
  • Make a purchase on the United MileagePlus X (“MPX”) gift card app. The MPX app is available for iOS and Android devices and sells e-gift cards at face value, often in the exact amount you need, but earns 0.5-5x UA miles/$1 depending on merchant (up to 10x UA miles/$1 during promos) and passes the coding of the purchase on to the merchant’s category allowing you to trigger category bonuses on your Chase Visa credit cards.
These tricks may trigger a higher offer immediately or could take several weeks to work, if at all. Keep playing around with the above tricks, as there seemed to be a lot of success with them last year.

It really helps if you don’t already have a United credit card. I've had a United credit card for years, even downgraded it to the no fee card, and I've never been targeted for anything higher than the public offer. Whereas my wife flies United a lot for work, does not have a United card, and gets targeted for the highest offers all the time.

The last time I checked, the earliest one could schedule an interview was about 6 months out!
I think it depends where you are - we just scheduled DD's for January. You might just need to fly somewhere nice to do the interview sooner :teleport:

they say that but i dont think they charge you. I never got charged for adding my dad in a few months before my AF. did get charged the full $75 for the coming year though.

You can call Chase yourself and asked to be removed from the account. Then ask to be transferred to credit department, they will submit the request to have it removed from your credit report.
