I love credit cards so much!

I'm going through all our cards trying to figure out the dates when they were opened to answer the ?/5 thing correctly, and I just needed to comment on the name of one of my cards, the "Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select World Elite Mastercard". Could they have come up with a more convoluted or blingy name for a really ugly gray card? What marketing genius thought this one up?...
RIGHT?!

I don't get it either. I love that not everyone wants the same trip that I do or I'd never find award seats on planes or free nights in hotels or discounts anywhere. Personally I love the resorts in Hawaii and would be happy parking myself at one or more for a month, but I also really loved the few sea days we had on our last cruise and wouldn't mind a few of those, too.
FYI you can now list “Ideal Vacation Buddy Since 19xx” on your resume. (The 19 means you’re most likely legal to drink and anything beyond that truely doesn’t matter). I would 100% recommend you with an attitude like this & I’m sure you could get a couple other DISers to chime in as well!

OTOH many of those in the NOLA thread would top my list of people I least want to meet IRL.
Thank heavens we’re civil here. I’d vacation with pretty much anyone in this thread.

Seriously, we had make that spreadsheet column extra extra long just for that one crazy card. It wasn't named that when I first got it. I guess the extra words are suppose to make me feel special. Frankly it's just embarrassing and annoying.
Eh “AA Plat” works for me, or “Citi AA Plat” if you need the bank. My spreadsheet says Citi AA and Citi AA Biz (my cards are sorted by bank, so that’s always first.)

The only way I talk anybody (myself included) out of anything is:
Do you have the money to go?
Do you have the vacation time to go?
If you can answer yes to both questions be gone! But if you know deep down the answer is no you gotta accept it and move on :)

The answers are "not really if I'm being responsible" and "yes, but it would make visiting family even more difficult than usual." The $200 a night they want for a room at Pop is enough to convince me it's not worth it! I appreciate your level-headed advice!

Adulting is HAAARD :(
It is! I do miss being able to impulsively decide to go on a trip a couple months out. As long as I was able to scrape together the money I used to be able to do it guilt-free. We have too many other savings goals right now to make taking another vacation a priority. Not to mention the scheduling nightmare of trying to fit in visits to four different families AND a trip to WDW at Christmas. And now I have cats who rely on me to be responsible! Someone's gotta bring home the kibble! :)

Been trying to get Dude (my dog) to get a job and pay for his stuff for years, still waiting. My friend has a great set up for her cat with an auto feeder, self cleaning liter box and a water fountain or something that fills it. This way she can go away for a long weekend without worry and when gone for a week she just has someone stop by to check on her once.

Well that’s unnerving. My HD from sat credited as did my Mom’s (families that bargain hunt together stay together!). Just did it again today and it’s “pending”. Didn’t buy fillers, didn’t buy disney Sat although i cant imagine that matters- I think we each bought Starbucks last time.

Did HD again today. Pending for dh but not for me. HD through RMN hates me!

Ha I am 49 and have soundtracks for all 3 HSM on my phone. And I too saw the third one opening night, but I had a teen daughter as an excuse . But sorry, I LOVE The Greatest Showman

I've not seen any of the High school Musicals. But my teen dd's have seen them all and love them. Zac is definitely a fav. I have seen him in Greatest Showman and I can see why my girls love him

I was approved for the CIP on 7/4. I was going to wait until end of October to DD the Sapphires, but since that’s out the window, I’m thinking I could probably go ahead and apply for the CSR next weekend. We’re finishing minimum spend on the IHG Premier (DH’s) tomorrow. 3 months in between and I’m good to go, right? Also needing advice on when to set DH up with a new (MR earning?) card. He got the CIP end of July and the IHG Premier 3 weeks later. Thinking January for him?

Three months between apps is ideal and a good timeline, imo. Good luck with the CSR!

I knew as soon as it seemed to catch on here a week ago or so, we had limited time...I expect it to die a fiery death at any time.

The deals may not be this good for as long but I don't think it'll go away. RMN has been a website for a long time, I can't imagine they didn't expect that type of thing or they wouldn't have limits already in place. And not everyone will use it. I'll save offers and never use it. They might tighten up the gc thing but they'd have to get more data.

Maybe the stores stop participating but how many people using it are spending money at the stores that they normally wouldn't? I am for sure. And a lot of those people are buying stuff that's not gc, even here. There was the $5 back on $25 awhile back and then it was something like $7 back on $150 at Staples. That's not worth it to me and I didn't think we'd get many $5 back on $25 nevermind this last deal. It's also the end of the quarter. I think the true test will be mid Nov through Dec.

Mariners just started their fireworks with the greatest show, I can't escape it. Then it went to country, I need to change the station.

Right, I've also used RMN for years, and their online cash back offers for the last year or so. I'm not new to this. I just wonder about the app offers. We will see what is to come. My experience is that anything that everyone starts jumping on and using will die out quickly...Having been through the GC churning thing, I guess, has tainted the way I see things. I really hope the RMN app offers stick around and keep working for GC's. That'd be awesome!

I finally watched The Greatest Showman tonight and I didn't like it. :duck::duck::duck::duck: I was excited about a movie for PT Barnum but being a musical it really wasn't. And the musical all sounded the same and similar to Moana which I kept expecting to hear. Partway through the movie I looked up books on him and reserved one with the library. I think it's also partly because I wanted to know more and didn't need the random songs thrown in even though they fit in better and made sense with the story than most musicals.

This isn't because I don't like musicals either, I could sing a long to most of Grease, Meet Me in St. Louis, Bye Bye Birdie, LA LA Land and Rent. I've seen Rocky Horror as a stage production, much better than the movie too.

Anyway back to your regularly scheduled churning conversation :) With a plug to use your local library not just for books but for dvds, cds, digital magazines and ebooks ::yes:: :coffee:
I’m very upset about this lol. Dh and I blast the greatest showman songs and sing them in the car. He rarely sings in the car.
