Does Ink cash give you UR points, or just cash back? All I'm reading about it, and none specify this. Also, I guess I need to learn.....Do UR points ever expire?

Also, if you have a business card, is it difficult to transfer UR to your personal account?

Ink cash/Chase Freedom/Chase Freedom Unlimited all say you earn cash back, but you earn the cash back in UR points. UR points do not expire unless you cancel all your card.
Ive never transferred them into a personal account, but i have transferred them into the chase partners(specifically the Hyatt). You shouldnt have a problem... not much reason on why u would transfer to a personal account unless u have a CSP/CSR... haha. I cannot give u a definite answer to this, sorry!

You can combine your points and transfer them to another account. I always transfer my Freedom UR points to my CSR UR points account so they will have more value for me. I can also transfer my Ink+ UR points to my CSP UR account. I have done that before in order to combine them all to one account before transferring to my United frequent flyer account. I would never transfer my Ink+ UR points or my CSP UR points to my Freedom account.

Just to make sure I understand -- the CSP/CSR UR points are more valuable because they can be transferred to airline and/or hotel reward accounts?

Is there any reason why the UR points from a Freedom purchase would be preferred to UR points from an Ink+ purchase? I'm trying to strategize my gift card purchases over the next few weeks. I could purchase them from Sams Club and get 5% from the Freedom card or purchase from Staples and get 5X from the Ink+ card.

Yes, for purchasing, no for redemption. Currently, I am purchasing Disney gift cards from wholesale clubs at a 5% discount with my Freedom card and getting the 5x points. So I am getting max points and also saving 5%. Once I max out the Freedom bonus category which is $1500, I will go back to purchasing Disney gift cards at Staples for 5x with my Ink+. But for now, I will happily take max points and save a little money. Those Freedom UR points will be transferred to my CSP UR account though so I can use them as miles.

hmm... why not Ink+ --> sams club gc --> disney? 10% with Ink+ all day long...
i just tested it with Tmobile gc, gc seem to add. i didnt go further though, i wonder if that works...

edit: it does work... haha.

Perhaps you awesome people can help me out here... I have two questions.

First off, I'd like to get the SW Companion Pass ASAP next year, to hopefully use for a quick trip in early February. We're getting married, so the sign up spend would mostly go to wedding things. I've got some Choice points, and would buy a few more to finish out that 110k point requirement.

My other question: DF has a fare credit good until April with SW. Originally, I thought he could get the Companion Pass, and book his first flight with that credit + $15 difference in fares... BUT I didn't realize all the cards he had opened in the last two years - store cards, discover, travel reward cards (thanks to me), BoA with no rewards:confused3, and a bank credit card (the teller told him that having a cc through the bank and not just store/reg ones would help when he tried to buy a house :headache:). He's probably at 8 cards or so. Now that I'm getting the Companion Pass, should we just cut our losses with the credit since he'll be the companion flying free? He's unlikely to go anywhere alone and use it, but we could look into that... but if we're traveling together, it's about $4 cheaper to pay the fees than the fare difference for the flights we were looking at.

PS. I'm part way into this thread and plan on reading it all, so if this stuff is here somewhere I apologize!

your at 4/24 right? i count 4 cards.
there a recent DP on reddit. Guy was 4/24, applied for both SW Plus and SW premier. Both on the same day. he was approved for both.

@Albort I may be missing something. I have never looked to see if Staples or Office Depot/Office Max sell Sam's club or BJ's gift cards to be honest. But if they do, are they selling them at a discount? If you don't mean Staples, OD/OM where are you finding them at a discount that gets 5x with the Ink+. Then, how would I get an additional 5x with the gift card? I may be too late on this bandwagon to get 10x on our next ABD trip since our pay in full date is a week away. But we've got DVC dues coming up and I pay annually instead of monthly. For a potential 80,000+ points, I'm willing to test out a few methods with whatever idea you are cooking up here :teacher: and report back. My dues aren't due until January so I've got some time.

Do Staples/Office Depot/Office max sells walmart gift cards? thats another way at it.

What i did was gyft.com. I noticed walmart giftcards also work at sams club. purchase $50 walmart gift card(codes 5x for office supplies via paypal). Then go to samsclub.com, purchase $50 Disney gift card that is already at 5% discount.
net is 10% discount...
i had around $8.00 left on my walmart gift card. I went to all the way from applying gift cards to complete order and it applied the $8 in and charging my credit card with the rest. Im not sure if there is any effects after the complete order menu.

only limit might be the 1 $500 discount per purchase i bet.

So, you applied for zero new cards in 2014? Or if you did they were before September 2014. If that is the case then you are at 4/24 or 3/24 depending on who you talk to. The Target card shouldn't count as long as it is a true store card and not one of the Target Mastercard. If you can apply for the cards the same day at the same time you are better off. If they are Chase cards they will combine the hard pull into one instead of two. If they are from multiple banks they may not see the inquiry for the other card and it is one less pull affecting your score and new accounts at that moment in time. The serious travel hackers will apply for 3 - 8 cards all on the same day as close to the same time as possible, then lather rinse, repeat in 3 months.

I rarely fly Southwest and don't collect their points and miles so I am not at all knowledgeable on the topic of how their companion passes work or their fare credits. I know we have a lot of DISers who fly SW a lot and know all the ins and outs and could provide you with sound advise.

Yup, 2 other cards that were 6/2013 and 4/2014. And Target is a store card. I'll do both cards at the same time. Thanks for your insight! We have low expenses right now (free rent/util) so good for paying student loans and saving for a wedding/honeymoon, but harder for minimum spends. I picked up my Barclay and AMEX SPG just before vacations because I knew I could hit them with those expenses. I'm hoping I can roll this forward for some much cheaper trips in the future!

I think I'll go for both on the same day. I'm gonna bookmark this for reference, just in case. Thanks!!

let us know of your approvals! and good luck!

Can you use Disney GCs or Disney vacation account to pay toward your visa bill? Whether Disney Visa or not? Or, just to directly purchase items/tickets from Disney?

Still catching up, but Disney Vacation Account codes as Merchant Disney Vacation Account and does qualify for the $300 Travel. I got the credit immediately on my card and my wife card after it posted. I figured it was worth a try since I think it is pretty easy to request a refund from the DVA account. Used the credits on both cards to fund my Halloween party tickets.

As for good sources of tickets, buy the gift cards from Sam's Club - $150 for $142.9x - about a 4.68% discount or the $500 card from Sam's website is about 5%/ But wait you say, I can get that discount from Target. However, buy it with your Chase Freedom Card during the July - September and October - December and you get 5% back on up to $1,500.00 in purchases from Sam's Club. Convert those points to the Reserve card and you get redemption at 1.5x, so 7.5% return. Fund the Disney Vacation Account for a $20 Gift card on every $1,000.00 in expenses paid by account. NO, you don't get the bonus for requesting a gift card payout.

Potential savings of 5% discount on the card, 7.5% rewards from Chase and $20 per $1,000 from DVA = around a savings of 14.5%

Just direct purchases from Disney. When you pay your Disney Visa bill you pay money to Visa and they don't accept Disney gift cards as payment. (Wish they did though, that would have been great!)

Got the CSR today. That was fast. But, need one for the wife. Any idea of an end around to avoid the $75 fee of an AU?
