I love credit cards so much!

@Limes96 - Update on the Plastiq Masterpass promo. Seems the fee on check payments scheduled by 9/30, but not delivered until after 9/30, was a glitch. It’s fixed now and shouldn’t show fees for payments scheduled by 9/30.

So funny how it goes back and forth. It works...now it doesn’t,...now it does...Maybe I’ll get on there and try one more time, but no big deal if the fee is back for good. Got most of the rest of our vehicle loan paid off using this promo. There’s only about $225 left on it so I need to wait until the payments all post so I can get the final payoff amount. Was using (DH’s) new IHG Premier for this to get the MSR and I think we’re less than $200 away from that. We barely missed finishing it in time for the first statement close so not in a huge rush.

Since I was up at 5 AM this morning for no reason, I did some thinking on this coming months bills. I pay one of my large monthly horse bills in cash, but won’t be able to see my trainer next month in order to pay him. My MIL will though, so I think I’m going to have her set up a Venmo account so I can send her the money with my CIP and have her transfer it and take it out of her bank account to pay him. Venmo is still coding 3x right?

ETA: I have over two years history with Venmo, but this would be my largest transaction ever (around $2000). Should I maybe let Chase know before I do it?

I just did venmo to a friend with my CIP. Hoping it codes as 3x because I really could have used the spend on my Amex. It is still pending 2 days later, so I can not see the points yet. People talking about putting rent as payment reason made me nervous. Do the CCs see what you put? We were laughing at what some other people put that you can publicly see so I put something a little inappropriate for the reason just to be funny. Oopsy if Chase can see it.

Waiting at the airport for our flight to Orlando...so will not be able to reuse until Friday...and I’ll try to keep up here :chat:

If you want to keep up do but no pressure. We can update you when back. Hopefully there won’t be any big mews...seems lately all big news has been bad.

You are doing Moonlight Magic right? A review of that would be appreciated. :)

Ok can someone help me please? @Lain @calypso726 maybe?

I just booked a one way, CVG to MIA using Avios for the Disney cruise I decided to book yesterday. (11,000 MR points, got the transfer bonus!)

Should I select British Airways or American for my Plat credit to pay for the bags? I obviously ticketed on BA but will be flying American...

This is end of January... now I've got to figure out my return trip home. It's a little more tricky...

I'm of the mind that both of you should maximize with Chase since you are already able to. Get as many UR bonuses as you can and then switch to your next opportunity. That's why I asked about the offer's expiry. Looks to me as if you could do something Chase related first and then do this offer or whatever non Chase offer you choose. Then just apply before the expiration of your offer.
This really helps. I appreciate you taking the time to explain it, step by step.

But I have never done this before so my questions:

1. Can I add my TSA pre or global entry number now that I'm ticketed because I wasn't offered that opportunity at booking
2. Should I select British Airways or American for my Plat credit to pay for the bags? I obviously ticketed on BA but will be flying American...

Sorry if these are dumb questions. Thanks in advance.

I have not used MR points yet, could you point me in the direction on how to even go about booking. I looked on the Amex site Saturday for a link (like Chase has for traveling with UR use) but couldn't even find that. Is the transfer bonus automatic?I checked DISchurners but have not had a chance to look on other Reddit forums.

Yep linked. Double checked before I went to checkout and made sure the card I was using was one that was linked.
It might work anyway. I did an online order on 9/3 and it didn’t go through until last night. Can you see in your wallet section that it’s pending?

Yes, so log into your Amex account. Click benefits then select Transfer Points. There will be all the transfer options. British Airways currently has a bonus.
You select whichever you want, put in your corresponding frequent flier number and transfer the number you need. You will have to verify one of your Amex cards before they will allow the transfer. My BA transfer was immediate. It's always been immediate for Delta too. With Delta you do pay a tiny tax on the transfer.

Some transfer partners can take awhile - I think Emirates can take up to a week but I've never moved over to them.

Did they put it through earlier than the day they said they would? When I checked the app just now it's showing 10/4 and 10/6 for the two I used.
Yes, mine all give a future date but have gone thru quicker. $47 cash thus far, only one took a long time. I had an online purchase from 9/3 post today. I had given up (and I don’t have the receipt, my sister actually paid for the item so it’s her $20) but was surprised to see it posted this morning

Has anyone done the Citizens bank checking acct bonus?
I opened it at the end of May, followed all of the requirements and still don’t have the bonus. I’m guessing I need to call?

I opened Citizens in June and haven't received my bonus yet. It's the only bonus I'm still waiting for. I thought I remember DP's saying it took about two months for bonuses to post, so we should have received them by now. If you call, let me know how you make out!

Thanks! I might just go this route. He's already a bit adverse to opening new cards and having them on his credit reports. This will help me convince him to open his own a few months down the road.
We received 3 new cards in the last month or so, and I did the replacement card route on 2 of them and added my DW as an employee on the CIC (Business).

Hi all,

You guys are so amazing. I have just tried reading the latest 10 pages in the thread, but just the acronyms are confusing me. I have no idea what is going on but am hoping for some advice!
We only use one credit card at a time, it just works easier for our budget. Last spring, I opened an Amex to get the bonus points for a pair of plane tix. Worked beautifully. Went back to old card, mainly because a lot of places don’t take Amex.
So, now I’m looking to get points for American flights in Dec. and possibly Southwest next summer. And what about the hotel points??? Does credit card hopping get you in trouble?
Again, we carry one card at a time. Might could manage two, but my brain doesn’t work that way.
Looking to maximize airline and possibly hotel points.
No business travel whatsoever. Usually hit $2500-3000 a month on the card.
We both have awesome credit scores.

TIA!

PS - if anyone wants to post a list of common abbreviations that would be super cool too

Citizens is long, they have 60 days from when the requirements are met and they seem to use it all. I met it end of June and got the bonus end of August. Here's my timeline: https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/99whbm/comment/e53lzuk

If it's been more than 60 days since meeting the requirements, and it was all legit, then may want to call. If my push from CapOne360 didn't work, I'd probably still be waiting too since I didn't get my DD changed until late July.

Yeah I actually need to meet my SPG MSR but I'm too nervous to do it with Venmo. It'll be my luck that Amex wouldn't count it towards the spend.

Have him call and find out. It could be as simply as they couldn't verify something but can with him on the phone. Always better to call than wonder, especially before you start applying for other cards that could have the same outcome.
oy. ok he's gonna hate me:rotfl2: I told him this would be simple...

I'll just quickly reply...

First for American miles, where are you flying to/from and are you happy in economy/economy premium/business/first? This, AND a list of your credit cards and when they were opened are the most helpful for advice givers.

Briefly for American miles there are TWO banks (so TWO credit cards or FOUR if your significant other will participate)---Citi and Barclays. Citi currently has a stable of four personal cards -- the two best (to me) are 50,000 miles for $2500 spend in 3 months (first year annual fee waived) OR 70,000 miles for $4000 spend in 4 months (Annual Fee-AF waived in the first year). Complete details here: https://www.citi.com/credit-cards/c...?ID=american-airlines-aadvantage-credit-cards

Barclaycard could also work for you...it's pay the annual fee of $95, make ONE purchase and earn 60,000 AA miles.

You could easily get one of the Citi's cards and Barclay cards and earn 130,000 AA miles (times two if you sig other plays the game-aka P2).

I don't think multiple cards hurts your credit score IF you pay off your bills on time. My DH is reluctant to have more than 3 credit cards, I have 20-something AND my credit score is higher than his. If you carry a balance or forget a payment, then obviously that can hurt your credit scores.

There are several people who know the ins and outs of southwest so hopefully they'll chime in soon.

We do use a lot of acronyms and abbreviations---my best advice is to ask whenever a puzzling one comes up. We were all new once and there are a lot of helpful and nice people who are willing to assist.
