So what a night... Just drove back home from KCK tonight and had to call 911 for a motorcycle accident I saw the very end of. I just saw something in the median flip and as I got up to it noticed it was a bike and slammed on the breaks and pulled off and got on the phone with 911... The phone rang for what seemed like several mins, enough time to run down to a near by MM and then back to the accident, the operator asked me what county I was in, told her I had no clue its I29 Mark 106.6 and she replied I called the wrong number, but she'd connect me to the correct county and in doing that hung up on me! Anyhow someone else who stopped at the same time was successful in their attempts to reach help. TBH I didn't expect the best when I walked up but he was alert and talking. Had a good size scrape from his helmet but we all told him not to move anything so not sure if he had any other injuries. He said his back tire lost traction and came around on him, this at 70MPH... He had someone looking over him. I didn't stay till rescue arrived since I had a little one in the truck, but it still got me shaken up!

Anyhow, Just a reminder if anyone has the $30/$300 AMEX deal it ends tomorrow. I need to go get some Disney cards tomorrow, Totally forgot about it!

That is so scary. Great of you to stop.

Couple questions on USO tickets through Chase...

Has anyone here actually bought their USO tickets through the Chase portal? I looked earlier through my CIP and the 1 cpp cash price was higher than the price on Universal's website and I was concerned that you had to choose a date for the tickets. I know you do on Universal too, but I didn't know if I had to use the ticket on THAT date, or if it was just for pricing purposes.

Any issues with using tickets purchased through Chase? I assume email delivery is an option?

If anyone with a CSR is feeling generous this morning, would you mind letting me know the number of URs needed for 2 adults for 2 day PTP tickets?

I just bought mine last night!

The prices were a little higher for some reason. So take that into consideration.

I think the date thing is for promos. We are going in October and there is a buy 2 day, get 2 days free promo ticket as well as the 4 day pass we got. I went with the non-promo since I want to upgrade to APs when we get there. There was a similar promo this summer, where you had to use tickets by the end of sept. So I think it is just to match that stuff up.

They came electronically. Haven’t used them yet so can’t help there yet!

Were you going through the UR portal for CSR?

@DisneyMandC I found them. Went through CSR UR portal (on the app, I’m on mobile right now) and got all ticket options from PTP 1 day through 5 day tickets! I think the only thing they don’t have now is the 1 day base ticket!
You didn’t mention 2 Park PTP or 3 Park PTP so here’s both & I gave 3 day prices because it’s super cheap to tack on a 3rd day if that’s in the cards and the promo rates could make 4 days for the cost of 2?

2 Park PTP:
-2 day PTP 19,479 for my random day of Oct 5 (cash cost via UR $292.19)
-3 day PTP 20,579 UR ($308.69)

3 Park PTP:
-2 day 23,521 ($352.82)
-3 day 24,551 ($368.27)

They also had “promo” offer but I’m too scared I might accidentally book it if I click “book it” looking for more info...
-2 Park PTP 4 day Promo 19,479
-3 Park PTP 4 day Promo 23,521

Thank you so much for checking that! Sorry, just checking in after being at the hospital all day. Yeah I keep seeing all the great deals for an extra day at the park, but unfortunately I don't see anyway for us to make it happen.

I sent Chase an SM early this morning. Have not even received the "We received your message" SM back. I know it is Sunday, but I thought I have always gotten an instant auto response and then a few hours later the actual response.

I had that happen to me earlier this week too. Not sure why that's changed, I've always gotten that response as well.

Sometimes they are still a better deal. I think the tickets we got for USO a couple years ago were for 3 days even though we were only going for 3 because it was cheaper than the 2 day tickets or something like that. We might have used tickets through work, tickets from work, whatever that thing is called.

Thanks! Yeah as long as they come electronically that's fine. I just was thinking I'd wait until closer to when we actually go to purchase them, if I'm going to do it that way. Need to think on it... Been a long day and can't tell if I'm getting sick or if the barometric pressure from Florence is just messing me up :faint:

Welp, I just unfroze my credit and applied for the Amex Plat Ameriprise (no fee first year). This was always the plan to get the free lounge access.

I got the dreaded pop up saying I wasn't eligible for the offer. I've never had the Ameriprise plat before. I stared at the screen awhile and then ultimately canceled the app. Was this the right decision? I didn't want to end up having to pay the annual fee... there were no Membership Rewards offered as there is no signup bonus.

Yes, I've had the vanilla plat in the past. Got the 100k points from it. My DH did that too... so I'm assuming he would get the same popup message, right?

Which popup message did you get?

Because you have or have had The Platinum Card, you are not eligible to receive the welcome offer.

Or,

Based on your history with American Express welcome offers, introductory APR offers, or the number of cards you have opened and closed, you are not eligible to receive this welcome offer.

Second one. Reddit says I've been flagged as an unprofitable churner. Do you agree with that?

Found your post on r/churning DQ thread. I agree with jasonalanmorgan and PointsYak.

The second pop up message means Amex has flagged you as an “unprofitable churner” as they put it. That’s typically targeted at applicants who have signed up for Amex cards, met MSR, pocketed the bonus, and stopped (or perhaps dramatically dropped) spending on those cards. There are increasing DPs that putting some spend on the cards will get you back in Amex’s good graces, and that pop up could go away in as soon in a week (keep trying).

The first pop up would have been what you were initially worried about, that having had the vanilla Platinum, you’re ineligible for the Ameriprise Platinum. You didn’t get that pop up, because like you thought, the vanilla Plat and Ameriprise Plat are separate products, and having had the vanilla Platinum does not preclude you from the Ameriprise Plat.

Even if you got either first or second message, PointsYak is right. Those messages just warn you that you’re ineligible for the welcome bonus. They have no bearing on whether you can get approved or not. They’re just saying if you get approved, you won’t get the welcome bonus. There is no welcome bonus for the Ameriprise Plat, so your ineligibility for a bonus whether because you’re an unprofitable churner or even if you had the same card product before has no effect (which is why they say the Ameriprise Plat is ridiculously churnable). The waived first year AF is part of the fees on the card; it’s not part of the welcome offer.

This makes me mad because I've been very loyal to Amex for years - for well over a decade! I've spent over 150K with them in that time for goodness sakes. I will say I did pull back my spend and shift over to Barclays - at least for the past 6 months or so. But I'll go back to my PRG. I always do.

Question for Delta hostages...I'm thinking of getting the Delta platinum which gives the companion fare after the first year and with $195 AF with $3,000 MSR in 3 months. It appears that the Delta Biz Platinum has the same except for it gives you access to the Delta lounge. Any reason not to do the Biz? Seems like a no-brainer but I want to make sure I'm not missing something.

While it is possible that you have found some information I have missed, all I can see with the Delta Platinum Biz is a reduced cost access to the Sky Club. It still isn’t free. It looks like the way to have access is to have the Delta Reserve (or one of the Amex MR earning Platinum cards). Main difference on the Delta business and personal is the biz not counting on your 5/24 count. It also seems to me to have better offers. I can’t remember last time I redeemed an offer on personal but this summer the biz had the staples and Lowe’s offers. I have both (as does my DH) but if I was going to choose one to start I would get the business. Let me know if you have other questions. :)

I went ahead and applied for the Ameriprise Amex plat and got approved so I guess it's all good. I think I might be on the churner backlist tho. Uh oh. :guilty:

Congratulations?! :cool1:

A few people here have gotten the second pop up message. Fortunately, the DPs suggest this blacklist is not permanent, but rather dynamic and you can get off it by putting spend on your Amex cards.

I haven’t had the “unprofitable churner” pop up yet, but I’m nervous about the next time I or my wife applies for an Amex. I’ve got 8 open Amex cards (2 of which I’m working on MSR), and my wife has 2 open Amex cards in her name, so splitting our spend sufficiently across 10 Amex cards is kind of stressful.

ETA: I’ll need to cancel some of these cards next year, but mindful that the number of cards closed could also land me on the blacklist.

Does anyone know roughly how much spend per month they are looking for? Just want to stay out of trouble from the start, if possible.

When you (or anyone) says sufficient spend on other Amex cards how much are we thinking? I’m working on 2 of my MSR’s for Amex now but on Friday put 2 charges on my SPG Biz and one charge on Delta personal. Total of the charges on 2 cards was little less than $100. Is that sufficient? I have a small balance on Delta biz so haven’t put anymore on it. My thought is to just keep a small balance on each until time to pay bill? Or does it need to be more than that? I don’t want to be on their churner bad list!

I'll say I was usually spending $3k a month on my PRG. I switched my bills and daily spend to the Barclays Arrival + just because it was easier for Disney and the cruise I've got in August. I like MR for Delta but I've got a stash so I was moving around spend.

I refuse to be a hostage of any one bank. I just think it sucks because DH and I have a great household income and carry no debt. I suppose that makes us dirtbags in the eyes of the big banks.

Bless you for stopping to help. I can't imagine how shaken you are

RMN question, has anyone had success recently with anyone else crediting cash back, other than Walgreens, for GC purchases? I know Kohls doesn't carry Disney GCs (at least mine does not) but has anyone use the $15 off $75 Kohls offer and bought a GC? They have Lowes and we are deep in DIY projects :)
