Ok I'm confused regarding the SPG/Marriot switch..... if I earned 20k SPG points on a referral, why does it only log as 20k marriott points on the new acct page? is this right? I would think it was 20k spg=60k marriott? now I did the referral in early August, but points posted on 8/24. any thoughts?

SPG points are no longer a thing. All SPG cards earn Marriott points.

Can I ask for opinions on the Amex air miles reserve card with onyx air miles status? I've got an offer to upgrade from my air miles plantnium to this
Thanks in advance

From a google search I think this is a Canadian Card (and it looks like you are from Canada). I don’t know that we have any Canadian churners frequenting our thread. I personally can’t help you on that one but maybe somebody here can, let’s see haha.

EDIT: in case this wasn’t clear, US and Canadian card offerings are different.

At least your spouse gets an email! I have his accounts linked to one of my 3 emails. My poor husband knows there is a new card when I physically take one out of his card and put in another one. “Use this for everything unless they don’t take Amex after you double check. If they don’t take Amex you can use this one.” Was the conversation we had 10 minutes ago. We have 15k of msr to meet. I can’t be picky about bonus categories right now! :)
:rotfl2: this is us too.... two weeks ago we had the exact same conversation.....use the spg biz unless they don't take amex, then use the FU (hidden in back of wallet lol) he plays the game but only minimally....

Have you check Chase’s credit journey? It tells you how many accounts you’ve opened in the last 24 months.

I am at 5/24 according to the information I see on CreditKarma. I didn't know about Chase's credit journey. I will look.

:offtopic:
Ugh. The raise I've been waiting on for months now, that I thought would go through this last paycheck, is just being submitted. For 1% less than what I was told. And this is all coming about because I was underpaid when I was hired in. Basically our old manager was underpaying everyone in the department to overpay someone who had ~5 years with the company and no schooling, but had an interesting relationship with her. So the new management is trying to correct some of this, but the HR manager wouldn't approve the amount they asked for me because then she would have to advocate for it with corporate, which apparently she has no interest in doing (I've seen other things that indicate this too, where she tries to pass off anything difficult). Process is the raise must be approved locally and then by corporate.

At this point, I'm just counting down the days until my anniversary and my employer match for my 401k becomes vested, which is around $11k. Checking my account every day... start the job hunt... 17 days to go...

I guess I knew this in the back of my brain somewhere....so the SPG referral, sent befor the 8/18 is actually Marriott points? so technically the referral is only worth lik 7k 'spg' points..... bleh. oh well.

I don't have any ideas on that one. Have you considered buying actual insurance for the cruise (I believe that is actually better to have in many instances anyways). Good luck with whatever you decide to do though :)
I might look into it since it is during flu season. We don't usually buy it and don't worry about it. I tend to only insure against catastrophic things...and fortunately a loss of vacation funds would stink but would not be catastrophic. I was happy to have to free bit of coverage from the CSR though.

all this chase talk has me completely unnerved now. Since DH was gonna be 4/24 by OCT,I was gonna go for the SWA CP for him-was gonna wait for the usual dec/jan timeline for that.(likely a pers. and biz) and then possibly go for a Sapphire DD in Feb/March when the next dropped off..... now I'm wildly reconsidering...... SWA has always been the lynchpin of my planning with the CP...... but I'm concerned that all products will be the 48 month rule ...and then we'll be out for both options.(24 mos rule no prob here) trying to figure out if a csp referral might be better asap while it's still 24 mos. language ...so at the least I'll have those UR to use either way....but the reality is those 50k UR are much less valuable than the SWA points+CP together for 2 years.....any insights at all? or should i just wait a couple of weeks to see how this shakes out?
