I love credit cards so much!

When you get denied for a card, do you always call recon? I'm thinking about calling about my Citi Premier denial, because I really have no clue what could be going on there, but I'm afraid of being questioned about why I have so many cc, why I applied for two the same day, etc. How does it usually go?

Always always always call recon after a denial. Your credit has already been pulled, there's no harm in trying. And sometimes, it's something as simple as an identity verification.

Is there an easy way to dispute, i.e. no phone calls? Or maybe easier to ask Chase to remove?

Pretty sure I’ve read a while back on here .... if your husband has a chase log in...he or you can secure message them...asking to remov e the cards he was an AU on removed from his credit report...maybe try a search on this thread...sorry I don’t remember who posted it

Sorry if this already got posted, just getting up and haven’t read everything yet. I disputed two of DH’s AUs directly with Chase. They had been showing as closed on his credit report after I sent an SM from his account asking them to take him off as AU. I sent another SM asking them to remove them from the credit report and they did (at least on Experian, which is what I pulled).

I didn’t catch when I applied that the $300 credit on the SPG Lux is calendar year! For some reason I was assuming it was card member year. I hope buying a gift card at a hotel will trigger the credit because I don’t have any stays planned until next year. My only other option would be try to pre-pay the room upgrade and resort fees for my stay in February. I was going to upgrade with points but if I can get the upgrade “free” with my credit I’d rather do that.

I'm not sure it is calendar year, I just reviewed Amex's t&c and it states :
$300 SPG/Marriott Rewards Statement Credit
During each year of your Card Membership ("reward year"), you are eligible to receive up to $300 total in statement credits on your Card Account for eligible purchases made directly at participating SPG® or Marriott Rewards® hotels on your Starwood Preferred Guest® American Express Luxury Card during that reward year. Your first reward year begins on your account opening date. Each subsequent reward year begins on the anniversary of your account opening date.

Bolded by me---as I read it, it's cardyear holder not calendar year.

Hopefully this is good news :)

Is anyone else having problems moving UR points? I can not combine my DHs points. It says

We are unable to move points at this time. Please try again later. If the error persists, please call the number on the back of your card.

Scared me because I thought oh no, here comes the no pooling points, however I was able to move my points to my DH. I have tried several different times.

Reminiscing this morning about 'my' relationship with Marriott.

Probably because I got up early at my daughter's house and wanted some breakfast. (I'm back home now.)

Back in the 70ties when I got married, my ex's family lived in Bethesda, Md. And, when we came to visit (from Texas), the Sunday morning tradition was to head over to the Hot Shoppes on Wisconsin Ave. I was much younger then and absolutely LOVED going there with my dear MIL and enjoying the Sunday breakfast buffet. So I'm driving home and thinking about this (and DMIL who was so wonderful to me) and the strawberry crepes. Marriott has come such a long way. I don't think they even had hotels back then.

Well, the Hot Shoppes brand is long gone, and I haven't developed a close relationship with the Marriott brand since then. And as a true SPG fan, really detested the idea that SPG had been purchased and would change.

Now, it is time to come full circle and to start enjoying 'Marriott' again. So I will start by trying some of their rooms this fall (with my now half million to be points after I get my bonus for the Lux) and of course as they are deposited, my 5 (discounted) nights. I will be looking at rooms in New England, possibly Boston and the Cape - I hope to get up there late September/early October. If anyone knows of 'winners' please post. Providence used to be my first overnight, at the Westin Providence or the airport Sheraton (when I didn't have a lot of points!) I miss the Westin Providence - the service was exceptional, but I think it has turned into an Omni. They treated me so nicely there!

I can use the $300 credit (easily I'm sure in the Northeast) and make some new memories in the process and also enjoy some of the leaf peeping along the way.

So I tried to get a points adjustment on my SPG reservations in Hawaii for the holidays, and a very unfriendly csr told me the hotels are sold out/no award availability so, basically, go pound sand when you're on Waikiki Beach. The last part is a bit of an exaggeration, but her tone wasn't very far from it. Any ideas?

New CHASE UR transfer partner: JetBlue

HOWEVER, based on my limited understating of JetBlue, the 1.5x thru a CSR is a better deal than transferring points (in this instance). It’s a better value AND I believe you’ll earn points on the flight. Transferring points would likely only make sense if you need to top off your account to hit a specific redemption. (Admittedly I don’t know enough to opine on CSP,CIP and what makes more sense).

I did not have an existing Marriott account but I applied for the Marriott biz. I thought their verbage said that if you didn't put an account on your CC app, they would create an account for you. However, there was nothing in my CC welcome package with a number on it, I cannot find anything in the online CC profile and the back of my card where the number should be, is blank. I was just trying to find it so I could create a marriott account online using that number. It just seems like I'll need to call them :confused3 Not sure who the 'them' is that I will call. I'm guessing start with the phone number on the back of the CC.

I had the same problem months ago with the same card. I called in an they had a number for me already but for some reason it was not on my card. I can’t remember if I called Marriott or chase to get the number. Had to have the number to set up the Marriott online acct to see all those wonderful points accumulate. I did use a sharpie to write the number on my Marriott credit card.

That's a HUCA and if no dice ask for a supervisor in my estimation. The CSR is probably sick of the whole merger and not sympathetic. Have you called using spg numbers if they still exist?

how do you do set up masterpass? Hoping staples sends the cards soon would like to get them and try them out

After you're logged into Plastiq, click on "Manage Cards" and a banner appears announcing the Masterpass promotion. If you follow through with learning more about Masterpass, the process will be described.

I did find that I had to open Plastiq in incognito mode to avoid the default Capital One Masterpass button that kept showing up in my account.

My first reaction was to HUCA, too. A friendlier csr told me that they don't even have the ability to modify points reservations at this time due to the merger.

I took a different tact the second time around, and used the wording in DoC's post to ask for help moving my points reservation to the new category pricing. The first call, I straight up asked for a points adjustment. I'll keep calling when I can, I guess.

I have tried numerous times to get this to work. Trying to use my CitBiz AA MC. No go. Says “only available for MasterCard” which it is. Anyone able to use your CitiBiz MC?

Used a couple Amex offers yesterday. Lowe’s 10%, needed actual home improvement items, plus somehow a giant blowup of Jack Skellington and Oogie Boogie made it into my cart. Added a Disney GC natch. Noted Target GCs there. May have to go back and get some as 10% off Target is pretty good. Otherwise I can usually get Disney GCs more than 10% off. Also used my last BB&B $5 off 25 offer.

Yes, I added mine earlier this week. Hasn’t been billed yet, I think it’s set to this Friday. I went separately to the Masterpass website to add my card and then went back to Plastiq and logged in to the Masterpass portion.

Yes, it's my CitiBiz AA MC that I put onto MasterPass initially (before I put the MGCG on there) and I've had 3 charges go through and show up on my statement. I did the same as @DisneyMandC and added the MC to Masterpass first. Also, as I've mentioned before, I have to go incognito for it to work for me on Plastiq.

Nope, won’t let me. If I go to Masterpass website, it asks for login. I use login for my CitiBiz and denied. I tried creating a new account and it says, no already exists. All tried incognito. Ugh.
