I love credit cards so much!

Instant approval for DH's Aviator business :yay::cool1:. I get such a rush from waiting for the screen then getting approval. It's a good thing I have never tried gambling because I would be the hooked. At least I am using my addictive personality traits for good and not evil.

But really, 50k miles for one purchase?! Oh, and that pesky $95 fee. But whatever. AS offers the only direct flight from PDX to MCO. It's glorious and expensive (bare minimum of around $360 when layover flights can be had for $220ish) but you can snag it with 25k miles RT. So between mine and DH's new cards we are basically paying $190 for $1450 in flights.

How many of you Marylanders are going to the Southwest Priority Card tour event?

Probably not me! It's like 90 degrees out there right now!

I'm an hour away and it goes until 8pm, and I gave it some mild interest. Even the 'good' prizes are pretty minor to plan an outing around. We are going out for dinner later, but not all the way to B'More. Wasn't someone going to walk around on their lunch break?

And what are the Redditors saying?

The good news: the Labor Day flights on SW I've been looking at dropped in points. Nothing major, about 1200 points each. I rebooked the Friday night flight to MCO :thumbsup2
The bad news: Even with the drops, the Tuesday night flight back to DEN (if we would add a day) is still out of my reach... by 38 points :crazy2: I didn't transfer any URs like I was considering because... I'm a dummy and haven't updated my Chase accounts with my married name, so now it doesn't match! Also I had a fail that day, because my RR account was already set up as a transfer from a long time ago, and I was going to see if it would go through, but I hit delete account on accident :badpc:

Score! (A little personal victory)

Our fridge malfunctioned a few months ago, so we had it repaired (and got to put a couple hundred towards a MSR, although that wasn't quite how I wanted to meet it :p) Well same thing happened to it this week so I've been DIYing it and hoping I can limp it along a little longer myself. I've been working on it today and just got this IM from hubby:

"So you think you can limp it along cheap or should I apply for the Hilton Honers Business card? Or to early to tell"

Thank you all for the support along the way while I worked with reluctant P2 :thumbsup2 We've been discussing generally the next moves for cards but this was out of nowhere, I wasn't pushing for a card or anything. He put 2 and 2 together all himself :)

It's such a great feeling when they get there!

Tagged @wendow and @amalone1013 with a few Reddit reports from the Denver event, and most say it wasn’t worth it. Supposedly there was a minimum 1k RR points prize.

Speaking of beachfronts, DH and I booked a night at Bethany Beach at the Residence Inn Ocean Suites. The cash price was $711 a night plus taxes so used Marriott points instead to the tune of 45k since it is a Cat 9. I hope it is really nice to be that high of a cat. Anyone ever been there?

Sooo some thoughts on my upcoming plans, because I just need to verbalize it...

1. I'm about $350 into my Citi AA biz card with a $2500 MSR. I think I have until Nov. 2 to complete it, so moving along fine.
2. Going out of town next week and planning on getting the SPG Biz when I get back. I don't have the personal, but this 5k MSR on the Hilton Amex has been tough. Really not sure I want to repeat another 5k MSR when I'm just finishing the Hilton MSR next week.
3. I've originally been planning to double DH in September. That was because we were going to WDW in November and I was hoping to be able to book a bounceback for next year and transfer it to Chase. However, now that the bounceback offer has come out, I see that it's not going to work for us. So I'm trying to figure out when I should double dip DH. I could push it out a little bit and then look and see what SPG offers look like after August 26? Or get him a Citi AA biz card? OR I just got an email for a Delta Gold card for 60k/$2000 MSR with $50 statement credit and no AF?

I'm at a loss of what I want to go for next... other than SPG biz which is for sure.

I see a room at All Star Movies for the Sunday night I need for $122.58 with the room only offer. Currently I have it booked through Hotels.com for $153 using my $109 free night and discounted gift cards. I'm going to give Chase Travel a call and see if they can find it and use UR points (~8172).

Then I'm going to shift my free night to Thursday night and book Cabana Bay. It comes to about $162 through Hotels.com. I've got the $9 difference in overall cost on a gift card already.

I booked RPR with Hotels.com Friday night ($337 using free/discounted GCs, OOP $94) and UR points Saturday night ($337/22474 pts). For Friday night I'm also using the last $25 on my Barclay Arrival points, which uses them, frees up the $9 in GCs to go to Cabana Bay, and puts the $16 I originally paid in cash back on my CSR.

Then it will be on to ASMov for a night, and then 6 nights at the Dolphin for $189 in resort fees.

And the only thinking beyond this I am doing for this trip is deciding if we are using DHs CSR credit on the resort fees, or if I will end up getting him the SPG Lux and use that credit for them!

This way I can minimize OOP costs for hotels but utilize cash already spent, like on the Hotels.com GCs. I was going to do the DoubleTree by Hilton for a night and use the $20 off $100 gift card AMEX offer, but that is still $85 more OOP on top of what we've already spent. This will put us at $310 OOP for 10 nights if we do pay OOP for the Dolphin resort fee.

We come from MD also but there is no way DH would ever drive there. With CP, we only have 2 tickets to purchase which making flying more palpable.

Personally I'd have no problem driving there, but at the moment, we can't go on a trip longer than 10 minutes without hearing "Are we there yet? Are we there yet?" So a 14 hour drive sounds like torture.

I've driven through Bethany Beach on my way to Rehobeth. From what I know, it's nice if you're looking for just a beach getaway and nothing more. If you're looking for shopping, restaurants, local culture, you're going to need to either head up north to Rehobeth or south to OC.

Feeling kinda itchy to sign up for a new card. Any suggestions?
DH is 3/24 with one business Chase denial for not using business card enough (and we still haven't used it)

CSR 7/17
CIP 10/17
SPG Biz 2/18
Venture 3/18
SPG 4/18

I am also 3/24
CSR 3/17
CIP 8/17
Marriott 2/18
Venture 2/18
SPG Biz 3/18
Delta Amex Biz 4/18
CIC 7/18

Thinking about getting the SPG Lux for DH when it comes out. we could use another Global Entry as we are a family of 5 and we are traveling to London/Paris in November and DH and I both have it and could use our Venture cards to get another 2. We don't have any other travel plans right now.

Marriott Provides Update On Existing Travel Packages - OMAAT

When our loyalty programs unify on August 18, our new Travel Package award chart here, will go into effect and members will be able to book for packages at all 6,700 of our hotels.

However, if you currently have a Travel Package Certificate that’s not yet attached to a hotel reservation, you have the following options:

  • If you know when you want to travel, make a new reservation or attach your certificate to an existing one prior to August 18, 2018.
  • If you are still trying to plan that perfect trip, you can hold onto the certificate and will be able to add it to a reservation starting September 18, 2018.
Please note that you will not be able to modify your certificate for an existing reservation or attach it to a new one between August 18 and September 18, 2018.

It sounds like floating certificates will not be converted back to points, but rather mapped somehow to the new categories.

Well it rules out one option but still doesn’t really say much.:sad2:
