I love credit cards so much!

Has anyone recently gotten the Citi AAdvantage Business card? Increased offer of 70,000 miles for 4k spend and no annual fee the first year. Tentatively interested in it but not sure when the offer ends/how easy it is to get approved for Citi business.
I was approved last Sunday and I am 7/24. DH had one last year but the website was so glitchy I got fed up and cancelled it. For 70k points I’m willing to try again.

ETA it was an instant approval

No. Maybe I should call again tomorrow and see if I get a different answer...
Don't think you have much to lose, you could offer to shift credit from your other business lines (they won't allow you to shift from personal lines).

I tried for a BoA biz checking bonus if you get a biz credit card. Solid denial on the credit card- even after I sent in 2 years of taxes! Won't even let me do the secure card method of opening a CD. Not too surprising I'm denied since I have no relationship with BoA but bummer I can't get even get the CD offer. I'm closing my checking account next week since I can't get the bonus without being approved for the biz credit card. Win some, lose some.

Great news, pulled DH's Equifax report (what Chase uses in my state) and both his CSP and CF AUs have been completely removed from his credit report!

:banana:

Now when to double dip him... I'm thinking maybe mid-September if I can find a day to get him on the phone if necessary. That's going to be the biggest problem- finding time when we're both available during business hours to get him on the phone if he needs to identity verification or anything.

ETA: I did NOT contact Equifax or any other bureau to have his AUs removed off of them. I pulled his Experian report a few months ago and they showed as closed. All I did was SM Chase from his personal Chase account and ask for them to have them removed.

Time for a new bank bonus.....PNC or Chase? Which is easier? I'm not sure chase will even work since we don't have branches, but I would try.

Hi everyone. My AF's hit last week for my 2 Chase SW cards. I want to close the Premier but keep the Plus to use as a referral for DH in October. Do I pay the entire balance of the card I want to close,which is only the AF anyway, then call to cancel it? Does the AF get refunded and can I do this by sm or do I have to call? Thanks for your help.

I didn't see this answered. If you want to close the account do not pay the AF, they will reverse the charge. It may take some time (recently closed my Marriott card with Chase and it took less than a week, but I was told up to 2 statements). My only suggestion is to call for a retention offer on the premier, I got a retention offer that covered the annual fee for the premier, so am keeping it open.

So.....if all I have is 33,000 Spg points should I do anything with them before August 1st? I don’t think I have enough for Nights and Flights. I thought about booking the Marriott Hotel we plan to stay in pre-cruise in Seattle. We plan to fly Jet Blue so should I transfer them to the airline? Or is it not enough to do anything? I have the Marriott Rewards Premiere Plus card on its way so I was leaning towards transferring to Jet Blue. I just lowered my CL on my Chase cards and I was thinking of getting a Jet Blue card so I could get more miles. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

@DisneyMandC
Did someone here tell me that you should only pay your Amex once a month when the statement is due? I'm the type that just pays on my credit cards every pay period (always pay in full, just like breaking up the payments). I felt like someone told me only to pay once a month but I can't remember for sure...

My understanding is that it depends on whether you are trying to build a credit history or trying to keep your credit score high. If you wait until the charges post and a statement showing the charges is generated, that can (temporarily) lower your credit score by increasing your utilization. But if you constantly pay the charges off before they post, then the credit card companies are not seeing that you have a history of on-time payments because there's never a payment due.

That's my understanding at least.

Oh - one final thought, If you are paying the charges early in order to "cycle" your credit limit (meaning charge more in a payment period than your credit limit), some CC companies might not approve.

@LynnTH

If you call Chase, they might tell you what cards they are counting. This happened to me when I misjudged the dates and got denied for the same reason -- I called and said, "Four cards in two years doesn't seem like too many," and the Chase rep said there were five, and what they were.

CONGRATULATIONS!

This is for the 120k UR CIP mailer right? I hope you feel all the trouble and waiting was worth it. You really worked to get this approval!

Yes and yes! The points from this card alone will pay for an upcoming cruise and a good chunk of our 2019 Universal trip. I'm feeling pretty good! Thank YOU and everyone else in this thread for patiently hand-holding me through the process of getting my first ever rewards credit card!

Either way works, however when I contacted the credit bureau directly, DHs AU was removed in 24 hours. Not sure how long it takes for Chase to remove them. However if you want them removed from all bureaus, contacting Chase (or whichever cc company) might be the way to go.

I can't say if it's worth it for you, but if you always fly those few times a year on Alaska then not having to pay for bags for one person on two round trips would cover the annual fee. If there are others traveling on the same rez then it would be quicker. I've never used the companion fare because I usually fly alone and often don't fly the same airline both directions because I'm more interested in non stops and flight times than staying on the same airline round trip. And between the 3 I normally fly I can usually get what I need.

I got this card for the miles, it's sock drawered unless I'm paying for a flight on Alaska.

Thanks. I don’t exclusively fly them either, I book one way trips with whichever airline is cheapest or has the best schedule for us. The miles are tempting.

I can understand that since their miles aren't as easy to get as others. The card is churnable but you'd have to be ok with going over 5/24 at that point probably since you don't have to wait 2 years to cancel and apply again.

What’s churnable and 5/24 mean? Sorry I’m new to this

What’s churnable and 5/24 mean? Sorry I’m new to this

Churnable means you can get the sign up bonus more than once. Chase cards you have to wait 2 years from the last time you got the bonus, this Alaska card it's much shorter. Amex has several cards that have a once in a lifetime bonus, which may not actually be lifetime but depends.

5/24 is the number of cards you've opened in the last 24 months. Chase has certain cards they won't approve you for if you're opened more than 5 cards in the last 2 years. You'll see a lot of questions about what people are at etc.

What’s churnable and 5/24 mean? Sorry I’m new to this

x/24 is how many credit cards you have opened in the past 24 months, it is important because if you are at 5/24 there are certain chase cards that you will not be able to open.

churnable means that you can open the card again and again and receive the sign on bonus. For chase cards typically that is every 24 months. American express typically has a once in lifetime bonus verbiage and are not churnable.
