DISchurners Index
First off - if you aren't a DISchurners member, this is our Reddit group. It's easy to join - just send me a PM and I'll get you added.

I wanted to post some of the key threads we have there in case people aren't up on what all is there:
Of course the support threads are over there too and when applying for a new card it highly encouraged that you consider supporting another DISer (IF there is a support link with the highest possible offer).

Yes, it seems like Chase is rolling this out to card families: Sapphires, and the consumer Marriotts and SWs.

What is the new SW bonus rule? Can you still get a business card bonus and a personal card bonus?

Is there any chance of someone starting a churning Disneyland primer thread over on Reddit? I could use all the help I can get. I've only ever done WDW, and thanks to @gottalovepluto I've already spoken to DM about a trip to see the Christmas decorations. :earboy2:
So looking for feedback from the group...We have a "Churning for Disney" thread which I did not make specific to Disney World. Do we want threads for WDW and DL separate? Also worth noting, I can't rename our current thread (reddit doesn't allow it) but I will have to refresh it in a couple months anyways.

A little more info on why I'm asking about a DL thread. I posted a question as a reply to a post in the current thread, and I can't mention the company I was asking about over here. It will probably get lost in the shuffle over there unless a kind soul gets my drift and ventures over to Reddit to read it. :thanks:

I think you can see and do most everything in 3 days, especially if you start at rope drop, make use of FastPasses or even MaxPass; 4 would give you more time and flexibility to slow down and enjoy everything (even multiple times).

As for DVC, there’s only the Villas at the Grand Californian. I’m not sure how availability is in December, but maybe @Calfan or @CaliforniaGirl09 can help.

I tend to book at 11 months out since I own VGC so I haven't kept up with specifics of tough times, but my impression is that December would be one of the toughest with 7 month points. Calfan might have better data points, but I think she has been shut out on her most recent RunDisney stays. She was able to snag a room last January for Light Side Weekend after it was cancelled but before that nothing. I just checked and December is completely sold out in every room category.

You can still get a business and personal card bonus; however, if you have an open SW consumer card or you've gotten a personal card bonus in the past 24 months, you won't be approved for another SW personal card.

The consumer cards (Plus and Premier, and maybe the rumored upcoming Premium?) contain this new restrictive language:

The product is not available to either (i) current Cardmembers of any Southwest Rapids Rewards® Credit Card, or (ii) previous Cardmembers of any Southwest Rapid Rewards Credit Card who received a new Cardmember bonus within the last 24 months. This does not apply to Cardmembers of the Southwest Rapid Rewards Business Card and Employee Credit Card

I'm a few pages behind but my AF on my CSP just hit. Is there any reason to not PC it to a freedom? I already have one freedom, my husband has the CSR so I transfer to that and I don't really see the point in having the CSP. Do they do retention bonus' for the CSP? Or should I just cancel it? I've only had it a about a year.

Thanks!

If you have a CSR in your family I would definitely downgrade to a Freedom

Agreed with @SouthFayetteFan, product change it to Freedom! This quarter's bonus categories are so easy to maximize!

Do you know when end of summer is? I’ll be there at the end of August. I’d love to experience it once even though it’s kiddie stuff. I think Marvel Land will be way better.

I thought I read late August somewhere... Pixar Fest ends 9/3 so maybe they'll keep Bug's Land around until then?

Next weekend is really shaping up to be a complete travel hacked weekend for us. Some of you may remember we are going to DC next weekend to see the cherry blossoms. We are using our free anniversary nights from IHG to stay at the Willard Intercontinental. The rooms are $253 per night that weekend. I'd say that's a good return on a $49 per year card. We have direct flights in first class and paid with Amex MR points earned from the Amex business Platinum card which also gave us the added benefit of getting 50% of the points back when we booked. Some friends of ours from Virginia wanted to meet up with us for an Easter brunch before we fly back home on Sunday. They tried to get reservations for a party of 6, 10 am at Old Ebbitt Grill but there was nothing available until after 3 pm and we need to be at the airport by 1:30. So, they were going to look at other restaurants to see if they could find brunch availability. I asked our friends to give me a few minutes and I'd call up Amex Concierge to see if they could pull any strings. I've only used Amex concierge twice and both times were for getting Hamilton tickets at face value. The Amex Concierge rep said he'd see what they could do and would call me back in 10 minutes. Sure enough, we have 10 am reservations for a party of 6. Thank you Amex concierge service! I swear, before this hobby it would have never occurred to me to use a credit card benefit to get dining reservations.

I've never used the AmEx concierge but I think I am about to try, for some museum tickets -- does any AmEx Platinum card get access to the concierge? I actually have both the business Platinum and the MB Platinum, just wondering which card number I should be prepared to give.
