I love credit cards so much!

Probably too late for you now, but when I applied the "estimated monthly spend" box wasn't required. I left it blank and got instantly approved. I think other's had you covered on this but I used 1k for my revenue since it requires a 4 digit number now... there's a bit of projection in there :P

I know it'll sound like a Nigerian email scam, but AF's really boil down to: I pay you $95 and then you give me $500. You get a net profit of $405 at minimum on the first year, then after that you can decide if the benefits outweigh the fee on subsequent years. (get's even better if you sign up for an offer that waives the first year fee.)

I am not an AF person, I counted all cashback and points as freebies because I paid no AF or interest or other money to hold and use a CC on most of my cards. But if you want maximum value you may want to pay a small amount to buy points. So I'm now willing to spend the $150 to buy $750 worth of points:
My CSR card I just received has $450 AF (even being logical I'm still  on this one but I did it anyway... cuz it's logical)
It comes with a $300 travel credit that I'll use on things I'd have spent $300 on anyway. (so regardless of having the card or not, I'm still spending $300)
This puts the AF at $150 for me, but after just the bonus posts I'll have 50k UR points worth at min $500... but I plan to use it on Travel through Chase so I'll actually get $750 since having the card gives me 1.5x points for that.

Now if you planned to get Global Entry for your trip the CSR also gives a credit for that charge every 4 years. (also works for TSA PreCheck but since you're going international it makes sense to spend the extra $15 and get GE) So pay for your GE application fee of $100 on the CSR and they'll give you a credit for that amount. If you planned to spend that money anyway, then you're now down to paying $50 to buy $750 worth of points.
(I'm kicking myself for not researching this last year when I got my GE :headache: I paid my $100 and only got 100 UR points in return )
There are also other cards that give GE or TSAPreCheck credits, just something to keep in mind while you go through your CC options.

So basically I now evaluate the AF's on cards using this formula. How much am I willing to pay to buy X amount of points? If you're ok with that it seems to open up a whole new world of travel and savings.

This. I drive a lot for work. I’m spending $100 per months on tolls no matter what. CSR codes tolls as travel! So I get reimbursed on that $300 in tolls.

My uncle used to show Golden Retrievers. They’re the sweetest dogs.

Did he also breed? If so what kennel name? It’s a small community so most know each other at least by reputation.

BEAUTIFUL! I don't think I realized you had shown them. Russell is our second golden. I was so heartbroken after we put my first golden down (old age) that I said I didn't want to get another dog for a long time. I made it a whole 5 months before Russell the puppy busted up into our lives. Four years later and he hasn't slowed down any! I've owned a lot of dogs over the years, but I think we'll always have a golden in our house now. They are just the BEST dogs!

They really are the best!!! I’m dogless for the moment.

Staying at the JW Marriott on Marco Island, FL June 10-18th. Got a refundable Room, Partial Pool/Gulf View (Guest) 1 King Bed or 2 Queen Beds for a total of 291,823 UR with my CSR through the chase portal. It looked to be more points to transfer and book with marriott points directly. Can anyone come up with another strategy to get a better rate that I'm missing? Thanks!

"He" is thrilled!

I just call the 800-945-2028 number and usually go through the prompts for lost or stolen card and tell them I have a new card and would like to expedite it. Maybe someone has a better way to get through to them to ask, but they never have a problem with it when I do it that way.

ETA: Actually it may be the "need a replacement card" option. Whatever I thought sounded less like there might be fraud on my account haha :)
Thanks

With that room type it definitely will cost a TON more Marriott points so if free is your strategy, URs is the way to go. It's rare to find a Marriott redemption for much over 1cpp and your URs w/ CSR are giving you 1.5cpp. Sometimes there is a loophole where you could book 5 nights with Marriott to take advantage of the 5th night free and then do the other 3 nights through URs but it doesn't work in your favor here due to the room type.

EDIT: I stayed there on business once. It was a pretty cool resort and island :)!

Congrats...I applied for the CIP on Friday and got the 30 day message, called in on Friday, Saturday and Sunday received the 2 week message...checked this morning and I’m approved... now to find the phone number to have the card expedited
Same here!!
CONGRATULATIONS! Your plan is falling into place!

Is the dance party gif the go-to for credit card approvals now? It's my fav to use!
I think it feels pretty appropriate!

Glad to see some biz approvals this AM. I was starting to worry about them. When was his last chase biz card?
This is his first, he got an AMEX business card in March... otherwise he's just got two Chase cards and 1 personal AMEX to put him at 3/24

"He" is thrilled!
:rotfl: I messaged DH and said, your card was approved! His response: That's good, right?

So excited! I just did a double dip for the Saphire cards and was instant approved for both!

I applied for the CSR on my phone and a couple minutes later applied for the CSP on my computer.

I used DiS links for both cards!

Thanks! I tried everything I could think of but I wanted to make sure nobody else could some up with something.

We've never been to this resort. Visited the island before but never stayed there. Looking forward to a beach vacation as opposed to a "busy" disney trip.

Yes, thanks for that tip! We've got $100 in credit from our EZPass tolls so far and even after we use up the credit we'll at least get 3x the UR for the rest of the year.
Almost makes me wish I was driving to work still, between our two accounts we would do $100 a month easy... but just almost, in this case I'm ok keeping my cash :)

Just applied for CIC for DH! 30 day message, as usual. Time to start the automated calls...

I applied yesterday for DH and had the 30 day message, approved this morning! He just got the CIP in March. With only a $5000 credit limit though, so I lowered his limits on two chase cards from $32000 to $15000 each. I was worried about having too much credit with them (plus those are ridiculous limits anyway) and the CIC was approved with a 12,000 limit. :dance3:

People say the thread moves too fast...we basically generated 3 pages of Approvals and Congratulations since midnight...Sorry, Not Sorry!! hahaha!!

It's weird but this just makes me so happy even though none of these approvals directly affect me. What a great start to a Monday!

CONGRATULATIONS! It takes a lot of nerve to do a double dip! And insta approval for both cards? :worship::worship:

You’re going to love it! We have been there for thanksgiving a couple times.

I have been gone since Thursday (my dd graduated college Friday morning). No way I was catching up with 30+ pages LOL, so I have only seen the last two pages :-)

DH has a $12,000 limit on both CIP and CIC now. I'm planning to double dip him later this fall so I'm thinking I'll probably lower those limits this summer, just as a preemptive measure.

So far our little group of "DISchurners" here has 2 CIPs, 2 CICs, a CSR and a CSP approved this morning! I don't know what our record is for new cards in a day (it probably occurred back when the increased SPG offers came out) but this is one exciting day nonetheless!!
