I love credit cards so much!

This was exactly my train of thought. It essentially amounts to almost half off towards travel. I don't need the UR's either right now, but there is no harm in earning the 3x through plastiq. If I decide to "cash out," I can do that at any time. I can't think of a downside to using Plastiq when you have the CIP.
Yeah, I know. I keep trying to figure out the catch...and there isn't one. I can turn $250 cash into $307 cash...it's like magic, lol!

If you want to increase your chances at auto-approval for Chase cards, then some people recommend keeping your Chase credit limit below 30% of your overall income.

You credit limit and your husband's credit limit are separate. Having him as a AU on one of your cards does not make your credit limit double, since the max you can charge on that card is $10k total, even with him charging as well. But him being an AU does add $10k to his credit limit as well, but it is separate from your own credit limit.

Can you explain this to me. I am confused as to if this means credit limit chase has given me across all cards or the balance I keep on them. I do not keep a balance on my cards so no issue there. But Lets just say my income is 100K and I have 3 CC with chase with 10K credit limit on each. Does this mean I will not get approved for another?

First, don’t keep a balance because it negates the value of any points (but you said you don’t, so ok there). Chase looks at how much credit they extend you. How much they’d be stuck for if you couldn’t pay or walked away. In your example, you make 100k, they gave you 10k limit on each card=30k total. 30/100 is 30% in which case you’d likely be approved for another card. If say you had 3 cards at 20k limit each, total 60k. That would be 60%of your income and they may not approve you, or would reduce one of your cards to say 5k to allow a new card with a 5k limit (these are examples, not necessarily exactly what Chase would do)

Isn't or IS? LOL :p It's not necessarily a great use of MRs. In an absolute vacuum if you had 270,000 MRs...you could cash them out for $3,400 with a Schwab plat. You could get gift cards totaling $2,700. You could potentially get even more value from another redemption method.

OR you could transfer to SPG, then to Marriott and get a nights and flights. The 120k SW points are worth $1,800 let's say. The 7 nights at a Cat 5 (let's assume it's $150 per night) would be $1,050. So you just got $2,850 of value. Barely more than the Gift cards and LESS than the Schwab or other methods.

It's more palateable in a situation where you need to top off your Marriott points balance to hit a nights and flights and you already have a bunch of the points needed.

Ha! Should say IS!

I keep meaning to check out your Schwab info. I just love hearing about how to make MR work for us since the main transfer partners aren't ones that we use often but I am needing to slow down on Chase, so need to figure out other programs.

If you have 30,000 in combined CL with Chase and your income is 100k then you are at 30% (total limit divided by income). It doesn't have to do with balances on the card. There's just a general understanding that if you get to 50% then Chase may not approve you for new cards because you have too much exposure. In that case you just start to reduce your credit limits in advance of applying to give them "space" to approve you :)

Using MRs definitely isn't as easy to understand as URs. I wish AMEX would realize that the complexity of their program leaves them lagging behind Chase. At any rate, with some research I think almost everybody can find a redemption method that works for them. Worst case scenario you can cash them out at $0.01 each for Home Depot gift cards and I think we all could use those somehow, LOL!

Been trying to sign up with Plastiq for a couple of days now. Has anyone heard/read of others having the same experience lately.

So DH just got approved for CIP, we’ll be busy with MSR for a couple months but trying to form a plan.
DH is now at 5/24 until 5/2019, or does CIP not count? I’m at 7/24, will be under 5/24 also in 5/2019.

I need AA miles, so I can apply for CitiBiz AA (DH got this card last year, so won’t be eligible until 2019)
Can we both apply for Marriott Biz without jeopardizing 5/24 status? Marriott Biz not under 5/24, Diesnt count towards 5/24, correct? Then I guess I’m looking at Amex biz. I want to get under 5/24 for SW cards.

Congratulations! CIP and Marriott Biz don’t count against 5/24. For the CIP, you need to be under 5/24 to get approved. For the Marriott Biz, you can be over 5/25 and still apply.

However, if your */3, */6, and */12 card counts are looking pretty high, you may not want to tempt a Chase shutdown by going for the Marriott Biz.

Price protection question... Does the Chase Freedom still have price protection? If so anyone know if it still counts if you used PayPal to pay? It was a major retailer but I used the PayPal checkout process...

I booked another room with Disney just now planning to move the reservation over to Chase. Didn't realize Cruise and Tour closed at 5 PM and doesn't reopen until Monday :headache:

Odd, When I went to make my final payment Melissa told me to give her a call Friday or Saturday. I just emailed her back and told her to call me when she could so I didn't have to wait on hold. lol

Haha I guess she should have said before 5 on Saturday!'

Of course, once I booked this I realized that I would now have to pay parking (I had booked my other stay before the parking fees) and we are planning on driving for this trip... so I don't know if I'm going to keep it or not. No reason to pay an extra $40+ just so I can experiment with Chase.

HAHA! Today is Saturday.... My bad. Totally thought it was Friday. :D

LOL! That's ok, I'm such a ding dong that I just realized that I talked to THE Melissa when I called Chase the other day to change my reservation from Boardwalk to CBR. I even thought to myself when she answered the phone and said her name "oh, how funny, we have the same name!"

THE Melissa is the one that messed up my tickets on Thursday. And she was off on Friday. And we were busy all day today so didn't get a chance to call back again. 9-9 ET M-F and 9-5 on Saturday. But @DaveL if you could pm me her email that would be great.
