I love credit cards so much!

Flying SWA tomorrow to MCO for the Dark Side and was not happy to read about that plane engine explosion! Yikes!

I'm still trying to catch up on the Stariott news, but I'm wondering about the same thing as @Calfan re the Platinum AMEX gold benefit. I hope they keep that as it sounds like the equivalent Gold benefit in the new merged plans will give me the breakfast I'll be missing in the lounge :( The loss of the lounge for SPG business and the 2x earning devaluation for the SPG card are the biggest disappointments. The 4x category spends aren't as enticing to me as I have chase cards that have 3x in the same categories. And here I thought I was finally going to have a good card for non-category spends. Sigh. I finished my SPG business spend in record time though--before the first bill has even been issued. I went ahead and paid our entire year of house insurance, our college football season tickets and that was basically it. Considering DH is over half-way through his SPG spend, and I also met my CIP spend all in the same 30 day period ... it's going to be an ugly month of credit card bills. Also trying to figure out whether to transfer existing Starpoints out before August 1st to Alaska or another airline.

Anyway, the reason for the post ... I have a few unrelated questions:

1. DD18 applied for her first card today via a referral from me for the Chase United Card. She received a flyer in the mail for $50k and $3000, but I thought it was better for me to take the 10,000 and her spend to be less. She is a student, but has investment income of $10k a year. She has been an AU on my United card for years. She received the 30 day notice, which wasn't surprising as her situation wasn't accurately reflected in the nice drop down menus. Should I bother having her call or just wait and see? I didn't even think about it but the AU card shouldn't cause a problem, right? I don't think I even had to give her SSN for that card.

2. I have an existing Starwood hotel reservation for June using my SPG business card. I should still get lounge access since the new program doesn't start until August, right?

3. I'm intrigued by the Plastiq offer for new customers re the Visa to pay the mortgage with the 2% fee. Has anyone figured out whether this will actually work? I'd love to use my CIP for that. Being able to stack with the referral is great, but I'm unclear on how to do that. I have to follow the link for new customers to get the 2% so would I put it in somewhere else?

I'd appreciate any thoughts/help!

1. My DD18 applied last year for the SW personal card through an email she had rec'd. She had been an AU on one of my cards for approx 2 years. She was denied based on not enough credit history(of her own). Maybe we'll try again this year. She'll have had her own card from the university credit union for a year.

2. I've got a Sheraton Res next week with my SPG biz card...so I'll let you know!

This is my dilemma now since DH and I both have the SPG Biz. Do I blow a */24 slot on the personal for the 25K and potential free night that we could potentially stack with the free nights from the SPG Biz and Marriott Biz that we each have already (that's practically 5 nights :scratchin if we can find a redemption on the new award chart)? I'm also debating getting the Plat 100K offer if I can still pull it from CardMatch, but I can only choose between the 100K Plat or SPG personal. Might roll the dice and see which I can pull first. If I pull both, we have a problem...whatever I choose would make me 3/24 until 5/19. I need to reserve a slot for CP and/or any potential new Starriot Cards...

UGH. @speedyfishy I hear you on this. Feels like everytime I start something, it gets shut down or nerfed. Fortunately, we can still use the method I posted on DISChurners using USB MCGCs :confused3 Might try WM again later this week to see if it's come East yet.

@gottalovepluto Apparently a push from M&T Bank still works according to DOC DPs...I just tried it myself, so will report back if I see it for future reference. I still have 30 days to keep playing around with it.

I can confirm that M&T Bank does count for the bonus. I transferred $10 to chase and it counted. The down fall is M&T Bank charges $3 to transfer the money. I didn’t care about the fee. Both accounts were the personal accounts.

I'm reaching out for advice on the Chase Marriott business card. I am 7 or 8/24 with Chase (one is an AU), and my last personal card application was 10/2017. It was a chase card, not subject to 5/24. I have 9 hard credit inquiries since 2/2017 - 2 of these were for Chase credit cards, 3 were for a single mortgage ReFi, and 4 were for a single new car loan. I am trying to focus on business cards to get myself under 5/24.

I think I am low risk for a Chase account review and/or shutdown if I apply for the Marriott business, but I thought I'd seek advice here.
I’ve tried to hesitate to give Shutdown advice since it’s a serious matter. It seems accounts is a bigger concern than inquiries so you are probably safe.

I am so grateful for you sharing. I have done $250 so far. I’m taking it slow because I don’t want to get shutdown, but it has been perfect. Thank you so much! I hope my bad luck doesn’t ruin it too though.

You and me both haha. I haven't had the greatest luck either in terms of loopholes and things getting shutdown after I dip my toes in...:hyper2:

Quick question. I decided to just apply for SPG Business. I have my business card under a "business" but thinking I should do this one under my account but under DH's legitimate business. He has a licenss etc where I am also listed as a co-owner/partner. Should I still do it as a sole proprietorship still? What about role in business? Should I do owner? Or I could even do manager or something since effectively that is what I am...handling the finances of it all etc.

Tried so much to get a car rental from MCO to drop off at Dolphin but it's not available in UR's portal, called was told they only do airports, tweeted my confusion to Chase, they contacted their "travel specialist" who confirmed neighborhood locations are available, called again and got a good TA rep who tried everything she could to pull it up but couldn't get it either :( URs now has a some neighborhood locations available for car rentals, and do allow one way rentals, but only some neighborhood drop off locations are available.

Sounds like a partnership, but it looks like selecting that company structure means you'll have to provide your husband's information on the application too.

I know. For the other "business" with my card I did it with minimal income and didn't worry about it too much. But I guess on this now they want the income to be at least the $1000? I don't really want to lie and want it based on some actual business. I don't want to have to add too much information or verification. I want the instant gratification of immediate approval! The struggle is real...

It's generally agreed that Amex biz card approvals are a lot easier than Chase biz card approvals. In the unlikely event you have to talk to a human, just explain you're starting up and $1000 is projected income for this year. Go for it, and good luck!

Heads up everyone: next Wednesday, April 25th is Administrative Professional's Day. If you have someone who helps you in the workplace recognize them. If you have a staff where you can get others on your team to give you cash while you generously volunteer to go get Amazon gift cards at Office Depot with your new CIC that you are working on meeting the minimum spend on even better...

We are also going out to lunch next week. I think I will have to take one for the team and volunteer to put the lunch on my card and have people pay me. :)

Thank you for this reminder!! It’s 4x fuel at kroger right now plus 5% back on CF so I’ll pick up a gift card tomorrow.

Got Visa Offers for the Hyatt card a little bit ago. One was 10 of 50 for Lowes, so I'll get a gift card. The only other one I might use is 10 of 40 for Etsy.

Thank you! I hope the income is enough but she’s prepared for the rejection :) And definitely keep me posted on your lounge access! I’ll cross my fingers!

Older daughter canceled her SPG personal earlier today. Then I mentioned the free night and she called them back and had it reinstated and canceled a different Amex card.

She's going for another Delta Amex and they told her she could only have 5 Amex credit cards.

I always get frustrated that I can't ever use the SW rental car thing for bonuses because they only do airports.

Total dumb question but I saw on DoC that they were supposed to be there on the Hyatt and I can’t see them on my Chase page. Where are they located?

Anyone else having issues adding their new spg card to their amex online account? I have tried multiple times yesterday and today and different browsers. Even tried adding to current log and as well as creating whole new one. I keep getting an error saying try again in 15 mins.
