I love credit cards so much!

Sheraton club lounge tonight was serving bbq pulled pork sliders; petit crab cakes; Mediterranean-style olive, mozzerella, and artichoke skewers; deli meats and cheese with biscuits; veggie dippers with ranch sauce; tortilla chips with salsa; bottled water, soft drinks, coffee, tea, beer and wine; and cookies!

I am probably a high risk for Chase shutdown - High credit score, paid off our mortgage a couple of years ago, and starting to collect a few extra cards that I'm not using on a regular basis. If I want to continue to be able to sign up for Chase cards I shouldn't sign up for more than 2 personal (or chase business) cards every 6 months, lower my limits on the cards I do have and cancel cards I'm not using. Does that sound right? And I should focus on non-chase business cards if I want to sign up for more than the 2?
I wouldn’t be concerned tbh...

Wowza, nice spread!

So......If plastiq says that the payment was sent, does that mean everything is good? I just received and email stating that payment was sent and should be received by April 4th. when i look at my account in plastiq it says payment sent and the last step is waiting for deposit.
You should be good unless something happens to your check in the mail. Enjoy the holiday weekend and don’t worry about it until the end of next week :)

Here are my thoughts:
  • You don't define who is getting which cards but it seems it's all you after your husband's first card...and you don't seem to be taking advantage of cross-referral opportunities. For example, I'd consider having your husband refer you to CF or CFU. I'd also consider referring your husband to CIP somewhere in here as that's an easy 105k+ URs.
  • Your calculation on the min. # of URs you have is off a bit - you'll have a lot more (at least 216k). You're probably not including the amount earned from min. spends and the potential Authorized User (AU) bonuses on a couple of the cards. If you take advantage of those AU offers you DO NOT want to add the spouse (you can use your middle name or nickname instead).
  • If your goal is really to cover a big vacation to Disney I'd consider looking at having both players get CIP, CIC, CSR, CSP and potentially CF and/or CFU. United, Hyatt and Marriott cards are nice but you could get A LOT more URs and even consider adding a dining plan and covering that 100% on points. I do not dispute your idea with Southwest though at all, Southwest Points are #1 in my book so I'm all about that :)
The cards you're looking at that you could find on DISchurners and support a DISer are as follows: CF, CFU, CIP, CSR, CSP, United, Marriott, Hyatt, SW Plus SW Premier.

Thanks so much for your input! Whenever we get to the point of signing up my husband for those cards I definitely plan on referring him to get the extra bonuses. Just to clarify- if I plan on getting a particular card for my husband, I should NOT add him as an Authorized User on that card because that will count towards his x/24 slots, right? And when I'll sign up for my cards, I'll definitely be using some DISChurners' referral links :)

Correct. You can get around an AU account sometimes via HUCA but it’s best not to put yourself in that situation.
Sincerely,
Someone who had to HUCA 3 times due to an AU for a CSR approval

Actually you shouldn’t add him as an AU on ANY card, not just a card he might want. Any AU Card will count against 5/24.

Yes - you got it. Don't add him as the AU (on any card!) You could yourself using your middle name, you could add your child, some people are ok with pets, maybe your parents would be ok with it...just not him :) If you happen to need a second card you can even just call and ask for a replacement card - say yours got scratched or you want a second one for in your desk at work...

And glad to help! You've provided so much info it's made it easy to give some great recommendations. The best part is that you're embracing your own research, those that succeed at this game do exactly what you're doing. They develop their own strategy and THEN ask for advice from others to critique their plan.

So I was looking through DoC's bank bonuses and finally clicked on a local one just for curiosity; turns out doesn't require a DD AND can be funded with a CC. Now I'm interested :)
I'm sitting here with MSR to fill, sounds like an awesome way to take care of $500 of that. I had a brief 15 minutes of daydreaming how to spend the money in the required 3 debit card transactions and where to put the bonus once I cash out... and then it hit me... SPG is Amex and bank funding is dead right? I know you don't get the base points but was there DP's saying people still got their bonus (counted towards MSR)? I probably shouldn't risk it with AmEx but mostly curious.
(I may still do it anyway, with another CC, but I really liked the idea of getting 2 birds with 1 stone)

SPG-BMO is dead. Very few DPs for other banks in the last couple weeks. There was 1 BMO reported getting the bonus today. If you can do the Amex spend another way I would use another card for the bank bonus to assure points on that $500 spend. (In case you didn’t already check DoC for DPs for cash advance charges, I always like it if I can find a DP on the exact card I’m going to use just to be safe.)

So, dh & I will be in FL in April for 5 nights. We are literally at a different hotel every night, and while we are not going to any parks , we do want to go have a meal (probably at the Poly). Anyway, I'm trying to find an offsite place to stay for the night. We never stay offsite. Any recs?

I also wondered about renting points for one night onsite but can you even do that for one night?? I've never rented for less than a week.

We made the mistake early on in this game of adding each other as AU'ers. Don't do it. There is hardly ever a reason I can think of to do that. Our last "mistake" of adding each other was June 2016 so that is about to fall off and for the last almost 2 years, we have not added each other and we have been fine. There are ways around it and we can help you with suggestions for getting additional cards as needed. As others have said, this applies to ALL cards, not just the ones you want to get for him. ALL cards. Spouses as AU'ers=NO GOOD!

Yes you can! I did it for a one night post cruise stay before. I went through an owner so not sure about the services. I’d just check their sites to make sure or just go to the dvc rental forum here.
