This week has been crazy as we're prepping for an 8 day spring break trip at the World and will be flying out early Friday morning. I'm so excited to be going, but at the same time I'm worried about how far behind I will fall on this thread. Maybe I do have a problem.
Dipping my toes into the bank bonus waters isn't going exactly the way I pictured it so far. Last week I went ahead and opened an Ally account to use as a hub. My original plan was to start with the Chase checking bonus, but I came across a Whitney/Hancock offer while browsing Doc's site. That one has no direct deposit requirement so it seemed a bit easier to try first. I used the link to get my promo code and applied online Friday. There's a Whitney local to me, but I figured I could save myself the time and just apply online. My application went pending, but I wasn't surprised since it was a Friday afternoon.
I received a phone call at my office yesterday from someone with Whitney asking if he could ask me a few verification questions. Sure, no problem. All he asked was whether or not I had applied for the account and if I had any other accounts with Whitney (which I do not). He thanked me and said I would receive notification of the accounts status soon. About 10 minutes later I received an email stating: Thank you for your application. We’re sorry, but we are unable to open an account online at this time. Please visit one of our convenient branches to apply. If you have questions, please contact us at 1-800-965-5626.
Not sure why this would be, as everything on my application was accurate. I'm wondering if I should hold off on Chase for now as well. I honestly wasn't expecting the application to be denied. Hmmmm.
