I love credit cards so much!

no loss what so ever. if you dont care about the 0% apr, call them to see if they would switch that to a freedom card. you lose out on bonus but hey, its still a great card to earn 5x UR points.
Wow that is great idea! I was so sad that I would have “lost” a spot for Chase.
Should I do it now or wait until after I have got my new cards? Not sure if this would make any difference for my next app.

No they are all checks
id give it at least until tomorrow being that today is a monday. if nothing, ask them for an explanation.

Product change wont change anything other than the card. its like your slot just got a new set of clothes! if the 0% APR does nothing for you now, Product change it now!

Hi everyone! If there's somewhere else I should post this question please let me know...still learning about how to levy credit card points to save on travel!

I've got a goal to spend 10 days in Disney and Universal in early May 2020 for an important birthday. I'd like to do it all or mostly on points so I can save other travel funds for places we haven't been already. Thankfully I've got a good runway to rack up lots and lots of points! Can anyone tell me approximately how many Chase UR points I would need to book 5 nights at a Disney resort (deluxe, mod, or value, or the Swan/Dolphin) as well as theme park tickets, all through the Chase portal? Any info on the same amount of points needed for a 3-night stay at Universal? I'm planning to try for the Southwest Companion Pass to cover our flights as we live near a Southwest hub. Currently I only have my little old Visa credit card I've had forever - very basic and with my regular bank. I'm doing all my research before I jump in and start signing up for cards left and right. I'd ask this on the r/churners subreddit but I'm a bit nervous as they are less friendly there to newbies :/

Any advice is appreciated! Thanks!

Whatever Disney will charge for the package is what Chase will charge. Sometimes Chase will have a better rate, but they can always match Disney I missed out on that my first trip. So if the deluxe hotel is $500 a night it will be 50,000 URs per night. If you have the CSR your points are worth 1.5 cents per point. If you have a CSP or CIP your points are worth 1.25 cents per point.

I don’t have any experience with Universal, but I think you can call the cruise and tours department for them too.

If you want to stay at the Swan or Dolphin you best option would be to get Marriott or SPG points. Three Marriott points is worth one SPG point. For the Swan or Dolphin it’s a category 5 hotel. It’s between 12,00-16000 SPG points per night. Your fifth night is free when booking with points.

Stay under 5/24 until you get the companion pass. I would get UR earning cards and business cards to spread out the Chase applications. Look into the CIP and the CIC too to keep you busy and stay under 5/24.

An unexpected benefit to churning: I walked over three miles today during my break from class trying to get my VGC into MO’s. I went to sketchy ethnic markets that said they sold MO’s on the Moneygram website, but when I got there they said they don’t have MOs. That happened at two places!! I wonder if they have a Moneygram account set up for some “illegal businesses” but don’t offer it to regular customers?? Or maybe the Moneygram site isn’t updated. Harris teeter pulled through for me though and I got some excercise in!!

I'm going to paste some stuff from a recent reply I did to somebody else here. Don't worry about those r/churner people - you should consider joining our PRIVATE reddit group for DISboards people ONLY...It's called DISchurners and you can PM me to join :)

Sometimes we use acronyms you may not be familiar with so if we do that tell us to slow down and ask lots of questions :) We all just want to help you provide free or deeply discounted travel for your family. Some of our advice may conflict at times, we all have different perspectives, it's up to you ultimately to make an educated decision on what works best for you. :thumbsup2

A few questions that may help us provide better advice:
  • Who all is in your travel party (and ages)
  • Do you have a spouse that will also be signing up for cards?
  • How many cards have you been approved for in the last 24 months (if any)?
So to focus on earning Ultimate Rewards and Southwest Points - here's a list of cards I think warrant consideration:
  • Chase Ink Preferred (business card) - earns 80,000 URs for $5,000 spend in 3 months
  • Chase Sapphire Reserve - earns 50,000 URs for $4,000 spend in 3 months
  • Chase Sapphire Preferred - earns 60,000 URs for $4,000 spend in 3 months (FYI there is a rule that you can only get a Reserve OR Preferred but not both - UNLESS you take advantage of a loophole and get them at the same time...this is an important consideration)
  • Chase Ink Cash (business card) earns 50,000 URs for $3,000 spend in 3 months
  • Chase Southwest Premier Business (business card) - earns 60,000 SW Rapid Rewards points for $2,000 spend in 3 months
  • Chase Southwest Premier Personal - earns 50,000 SW Rapid Rewards points for $2,000 spend in 3 months
  • Chase Southwest Plus Personal - earns 50,000 SW Rapid Rewards points for $2,000 spend in 3 months
  • Chase Freedom AND/OR Chase Freedom Unlimited - both earn 15,000 URs for $500 spend in 3 months (these are likely lesser recommended cards but make sense for some folks)
You could actually get every card I just listed while under the Chase 5/24 rule...you'd want to space them out over 2 years though - you can't get cards too fast or you risk banks either 1) denying you or 2) shutting you down and closing your accounts. If you got all these cards, you'd have over $4,000 worth of URs towards travel (that can cover Disney rooms, dining & tickets) and $2,500 worth of southwest flights (NOTE: I'm not directly suggesting you get every one of these cards in this exact order - just showing your primary options).

As far as what it costs...you could just do mock vacation packages on the Disney site to determine that. Hotels vary by date but based on your dates I'd pick early/mid November as those rates are somewhat similar to late May rates if I remember correctly.

So this gives you some initial ideas - I'm sure others will share thoughts too. Let us know what you're thinking or what questions you may have.

Just received an email from GYFT with an offer for $10 off a $100 Whole Foods Gift Card with promo code EASTER18. Using my CIP to grab one! It is going to be so hard to pass stuff like this up while I'm meeting MSR on the AMEX SPG biz! I have to get into @SouthFayetteFan 's way of thinking!

And DoC confirmed you can use this offer 3 times per account.

It's just me and my husband right now, ages 27 and 31. He's not so into this whole churning thing but I'm hoping to talk him into letting me try it out. If we do sign him up for cards I will be 100% in charge of handling them - he doesn't trust himself to handle credit but I'm fine with being CFO. Neither of us have opened any new credit cards in the last 24 months. I've had my Visa since I started college (I thiiiink).

Also here's a fun monkey wrench to throw in our plans - how does planning to buy a condo in 12 months figure into this whole timeline?

I'll PM you about the Reddit group! Thanks!

I have approved the thread on MS for DISchurners (I have automod programmed to remove any new threads to keep the frontpage clean, but this warrants a thread). Thanks to @linzjane88 for setting it up :)
Ha ha I wondered how I was the only one other than you who had made a thread over there. I just thought maybe everyone got their talking out of their system on the Dis.

This thread has a lot of good discussion about churning and getting a mortgage: https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/7gtbo3/churning_impacts_on_the_mortgage_lending_process/

Sitting here in the Centurion Lounge at SFO, enjoying a hot plate of piment fennel crusted chicken and seasonal vegetables (so good!) and an iced tea, waiting for our flight to SNA. There’s even cookies! Disneyland tomorrow!
Jealous. I am so close to DL, yet so far. Can't believe I'm not going.
