I love credit cards so much! v7.0 - 2025 (see first page for add'l details)

I haven't but BoA (and frankly any bank but historically, Barclays, BoA and I'm sure others will chime in) some other banks can be difficult. Likely having your credit reports locked contributed to this-I keep mine frozen and unfreeze for 24 hours when applying (I realize this is Monday morning quarterbacking so apologies!) but do empathize with the frustration. Right now, banks seem to be more skittish than ever...harkening back to "08 and even other times in our history when they were more reluctant to extend credit.

Good luck and remember, it's not you, it's them.
Thanks so much for this note. Update! I called today to ask what the heck was up with the second letter and to see if we could speed this process up a little. The team on their end honestly was pretty flummoxed about why my application was being held up, I've had a BoA card for over 20 years, and they have everything they need on me. I was transferred to all kinds of different departments for about an hour. What finally worked was logging into my profile online, then applying AGAIN from there (I wasn't logged in the first time). The second application was also paused, but it was a temporary pause that required some phone information/verification only - after 10 min, I was approved, and the initial application that was in limbo has been cancelled. I can see the number in my BoA app, so it looks like this one took.

Weird. And as irritating as this has been, I guess at least I know no one will be getting a BoA card fraudulently in my name😂.

There is some speculation on what might happen after the transition to Citi that is concerning. Link

If the Barclays Red shows as closed and the converted Citibank shows as new (but backdated), then you'll have added 2 cards to your 5/24.

It might reset your Citi AA counter. If you got the Citi AA recently, then it doesn't really matter. If you're close to waiting out the 48 months, then it would.
Yikes. If I'm understanding this correctly, if I were to apply and be approved for the Barclays AA card, once the transition happens I could go from 2/24 to 4/24 just for opening 1 card? I don't think it wouldn't be worth it, at least not to me (I've never held a Citi AA personal card, but was approved for the AA biz card in October, 2024).

That's my understanding as well. The more I think about it, I don't see how else it can show on your credit report other than the Barclays closed and a new Citi. The closed Barclays will show the open date. The new Citi will either show the conversion date or backdated to the Barclays opening date. But for a new card, it doesn't matter much. I can't think of a scenario where a new Barclays AA that's converted doesn't end up using 2 slots. I'd love to be wrong though! Maybe in recon you can get them to count it as 1 similar to how they can disregard AUs.

I got my Barclays Red card Oct 2023. Kept it open because of retention that removed AF last year. I think this year I won't ask for a retention and just close it so it doesn't get converted to a Citi card since it would delay my ability to get another Citi AA card by 6 months. The transfer of Barclays to Citi isn't happening until next year, right?

I hope we get more info on this when it gets closer. My barclays card is my 2nd oldest and highest limit. While I know it stays on your report for awhile and I have plenty of other cards, I don't know what kind of ding it would have to close it. But with this rumor I guess it wouldn't be any different from closing it. Who knows if citi even keeps the high cl. And with a score over 800 does any of it even matter at this point.

It's a no af aa card, I don't need to keep anything with an af and I don't think citi has anything without one. I wonder if when it gets closer barclays allow PC to something else to keep the customer. I'd much rather do that. Which I should probably just call at some point and ask.

You're right, it's supposed to be Q1 of next year. When I saw the Sept rumor, I thought the conversion was happening then too.

DH is in the same boat. Took the retention to finish a spend offer. Was thinking I need to cancel soon, but now I can wait until the AF.

Citi actually does have some no AF cards. I don't know if they are only available as a PC. My Citi AA personal card became an AA Miles Plus card after the AF hit a few months ago, and it has no AF.

I also hope we get more info, and that you can keep your old Barclays CL! Maybe it doesn't matter for credit scores, but it's the principle of the thing.

Good to know they have a no af.

It's a small piece of mind if I ever needed a huge limit and couldn't get a new card for a sub and could only use one card, I have it. No idea what scenario fits that as I'd fight it, especially since it's 1 mile per $2 spent I think on this no af. It's a terrible card.

I set up the business rewards account last month. I just transferred 250K (max in one transaction) yesterday. Reflected in my account today (maybe yesterday, I didn't check).

I don't remember if I just used P2's name for business or left blank. There was no follow up or verification. I waited the month before transferring so it didn't look as suspicious. On P2's account, I went to the Redeem points and Transfer option. Then enter where you want it to go. There is a line for a charge. Be sure it says $0 so you know it won't charge you.

ok thanks!

Has anyone done an AMEX business checking? I got an email for 70K MRs and it looks like a deposit is any deposit so I could just move some money there for a short period. Easy?

Following my previous post where I hope to get more Jet Blue points…

I am looking at traveling to Aruba or Turk and Caicos next June or July with Jet Blue. Does anyone have anywhere they prefer to stay in Aruba or TC? We have never been. Dh, myself, DS11 and DD9. I have no points anywhere so no loyalty to any chain.

Any idea how long these types of offers last? JetBlue is on my get & keep list since we usually used them to fly to MCO yearly so I could use the free bag.

Ideally if I could apply at the end of the month.
I’m not sure when I applied last year it was a day after the bonus increased and I didn’t notice when it ended

That's a good offer, P2 got it when 60k was the good offer.

It was easy when we did it, I haven't read the latest terms but it was straight forward, no gotchas. IIRC it took almost their full payout window to get the points but everything was within the terms.

We still have ours open as a backup in case interest rates tank again. I keep it active by transferring money/mobile deposit and then bill pay every so often.

DH got a 50K offer. Not as good but it's easy so I'm tempted
