I love credit cards so much! v7.0 - 2025 (see first page for add'l details)

I said the details would be important on the CSR changes - and it doesn't look like I will be able to make use of the Apple Music credit. Actually it isn't a credit - it is an individual subscription activated through Chase. Won't work for our family plan.

The 2 night minimum stay on the Edit hotels probably means I would have to spend more than I would otherwise to get some notional benefit and the dining credit is pretty limited restaurants.

All in all, think I'm edging back towards cancelling when the AF hits next year.

also to complain, i think its dumb they should reward people who have held the car since 2016 to double dip.

If the hotels im going to book I can still get hyatt and or hilton points and a favorable rate im all about it but yeah im leaning this way also well see. Most of the time ive looked for airfare etc its not the case at all.

So, my CSR renewal date is October 1, 2025. Does that mean when it renews it will do so at the $550 rate and not the new $795 rate?

Also, I assume the $75k spending bucket is based on spending after Oct 26, 2025? I don't see any website mentioning the date for the spending. In 2024 I had $105k on my CSR. In 2025 I'll be close to $75k. Although Southwest and IHG are not companies I use very often.

Organically I will easily use the $300 travel credit and the $120 Peloton credit. The Edit and new Tables I doubt I'll use much, if at all, as they are not near us. We don't use Doordash or Lyft right now. Maybe I can try Doordash. Lyft always seems quite a bit more expensive than Uber so I have not used it. I don't use Apply TV or Stubhub currently, but I'm sure I could use up those credits.

I'll have to think about it, but it I renew at $550 I'll keep it a year and see how it goes.

That's how I read it. Ours renews Sept 1.

I use the PYB 1.5x feature for charities, guess I will make some more donations before the end of June. Have been using the 1.25x on groceries also lately. We have over 350,000 right now.

We will probably keep a CIP for the 3x on travel and downgrade the CSR to CSP when the AF goes up for us in 2026.

I am curious how they will keep track of the UR buckets - those that can be redeemed for travel at 1.5 vs the newer URs that can't.

  • However, cardholders who opened their accounts prior to June 23 will have a grace period before this benefit is gone. Specifically, for any points earned prior to Oct. 26, 2025, you can still use those for either 1.5 cents apiece or up to 2 cents apiece via Points Boost for two years — through Oct. 26, 2027. In fact, you'll automatically receive the best offer between these two methods during that time period.
  • Unfortunately, any points earned after Oct. 26, 2025 — and all redemptions after Oct. 26, 2027 — will only be eligible for Points Boost. Otherwise, it'll be a fixed 1 cent per point.

Do you think this would count for points transferred to the CSR before October 26th as well? I usually move the majority of my points to DH's CSR. I did just recently apply for the CSP so at point point, I can transfer to Hyatt and other partners, but still book quite a few things through the portal to get the 1.5x

Per DoC, no more 48 month rule, chase to have pop up jail.

ETA only CSR has language at the moment. Another post about being able to get both CSP and CSR. They've had several posts in the last hour or so about the changes.

I think the key takeaway here is that the removal of the 48 month rule will be replaced by a new 'unspecified' time period when you are unable to get a bonus for a card you have previously held - and that time period will be longer than 48 months. Similar to Amex's once per lifetime rule which many interpret as no more than once every 7 years or so.

Time for my latest "What Card Do Y'All Recommend?" post.

So I unfortunately don't get to travel as much as I would like to and tend to be a points hoarder so I usually aim for cash back unless I can find a card with a good SUB or some otherwise cool perks. All of my spend right now is on my Citi ShopYourWay where I am getting 10% cash back on Gas, Groceries, and Restaurants which are my main expenses as well as 10% back at hardware stores and 5% back in travel and entertainment.

Would appreciate any thoughts you guys have!
Generally speaking, if you're not targeting a specific type of points and only want cash back, go for the biggest sub you can find and meet. If you don't care about 5/24, you might take a look at the Capital One Spark Cash which is on an elevated offer of $1,500 for $15,000 in spend. If that's too ambitious, then you could look at the U.S. Bank business credit cards. The Triple Cash also has 0 APR for 12 months so you could pick up some extra cash floating your credit line in a high yield savings account for the duration.

As an aside, I pulled up your Citi ShopYourWay card and it only lists 3% for groceries and restaurants and 5% for gas. Plus, ShopYourWay points are not necessarily worth 1 penny per point as cash back, unless you redeem for a gift card. That's not bad, but there are plenty of cards that will hit that metric and beat it if you actually use the points for travel. For instance, I would rather have the Citi Strata Premier that is a straight 3% on gas/groceries/restaurants, but receives ThankYou points that can be transferred to their partners or redeemed for a statement credit.

Does anyone know what the SUB / MSR will be for the new CSR biz card? Will the 1 Sapphire rule be in place or will we be able to hold 1 personal and 1 biz card?
Forgot to anwser this earlier, the 1 sapphire rule is gone In the future I believe it's the 23rd, but it also comes with that potential of Pop up jail ala chase. The other threads I'm on, people think it's going to be 100k+, but with more spend for the business card.

Thanks for the card recommendations.

For the Citi ShopYourWay card, the % are the standard earnings rate. But you receive offers (as I provided screenshots of) that give you the 10% cash back in the form of a statement credit so you are indeed getting 10% back. YMMV on offers you receive, of course, but other messageboards I'm on show a large population receive similar offers at a similar time. 2 years in a row now I've gotten the offer for 10% back on gas, groceries, and restaurants and it's been phenomenal.

The only option for ShopYourWay points as far as I am aware, is for gift cards so yes, it would be 1 cent per point in value. Those points are earned in addition to the statement credit as ShopYourWay is essentially a shopping portal like Rakuten that gets linked to the credit card.

My husband’s renews sometime in September. If it’s $550 we’ll keep it for one more year.

Got to think of the best way to use the URs. He has around 200k (and earning a bunch more on our Japan trip).

So bummed about the CSR and the CSP in terms of portal bookings and the multiplier. That is where I use it the most. I looked and over the last year I used 577k points in the portal @ 1.5 and transferred 225k. I did upgrade to a CSR so I’ll book all my hotels for next summer once the schedule opens at 1.5 and at renewal cancel. As long as CSP keeps transfer ability, I’ll just keep that. 😢

This is where I am too. I will make up the fee pretty easily; I'm in LA so there are plenty of "Reserve Exclusive tables" nearby that I frequent and Lyft and DoorDash will get used here and there. Peloton, Apple TV+ and annual travel credit are no-brainers and StubHub should be too. The Edit is intriguing; annoyed that it's a 2 night minimum.

But yeah...the loss of 3x on all travel is a gut punch. I don't like doing portal bookings for flights because I don't want my booking handled by a third party. But I was happy to take the 50% bonus when making portal hotel bookings.

Also, the Southwest A-List after 75k spend made me lol. Not the pot of gold I personally would hope to be seeing at the end of the rainbow.

Appreciating all of your expert takes on this change as I am not really active in the points game! Luckily I just paid my AF in May so I think I have awhile to think this one through.

Me too! The Chase URs paid for almost all our Italy hotels and tours last May. I have accumulated lots of URs in the last year to pay for our next trip. Guess I need to start really thinking and planning.

I also use the CSR travel portal and for the PYB catagories for things I would normally buy. I didn’t realize Chase showed how many URs redeemed over the last 12 months so went and looked …over900,00 on PYB, 850,000 on travel(most on a 2br all inclusive for 6 in Mexico next week) and transferred 35,000
My AF hits before October so I have a year to see if it’s still a keeper card

Is there a time limit for a rental car company to hit you with a damage charge? I used some of my Cap 1 credit for our rental in NC over the weekend. We grabbed a brand new Cherokee Trailhawk. Someone at the hotel must have thrown their door into the driver door, or the wind blew it (it was fierce at times) as we noticed our last night there was a lovely huge dent in the driver's side door. When we returned it the clerk came over, looked at everything and said we were good to go. I have my final receipt in my email, etc. My BF likes to think since they didn't catch it on check in they can't come back at us later because one could argue that it could have been done after we turned it in. They had about 5 rows of returns and the rows were narrow, LOL. So he thinks we're in the clear. I'm just sure I'm cursed because a week ago my son (18 days into driving) ripped the bumper off his new car. Then my daughter called while I was in NC to tell me a deer hit her car. Her whole driver side is smashed in and can't open any doors. This will be her 3rd claim in a year (last was when she ended up in a ditch when I was in Mexico). So it's only fitting I add to the body claims right now.

I also think I need to go back to school and learn body repair. I guess I'm just happy we found a great body shop in our neighborhood. He's basically family at this point, LOL.

@afan Eva Air only releases 1 award seat / day / destination. I'm not sure if you and your friend could both get from Shanghai-->Taipei in biz class since they would only release 1 award seat for that leg. But 1 of you could take the 1pm and the other the 4pm flight to Taipei. Found the below on Eva to DFW on June 12th:

ChatGPT suggests you may not be out of the woods on the rental.

Anyone have an Apple credit card?

I'm considering opening one. Good sign up bonus, no AF and I use Apple pay a lot.

Any tips or advice?
