Wondering if anyone has cruised out of the Manhattan cruise port in NYC? We have a cruise booked out of there in February. We typically fly Southwest, so it looks like LGA would be our best airport to fly into. I also have a bank of money with United that we could use and fly into EWR.

We will be flying in on a Thursday evening and the cruise leaves Friday evening, so really only need a hotel to sleep in for the night. Will pretty much be going to the port after getting up the next morning.

So, any recommendations on which airport to fly into and/or a hotel / area to look into?

Thanks!
We've done 2 cruises on the Magic out of Manhattan. We flew into EWR. Mainly because we stayed at my grandpa's the night before in NJ. The first cruise my mom arranged a private car to take us to the port and the second time she rented a mini van that we then parked at the terminal (second cruise was only 5 nights instead of 7). I felt like it was easier doing that than the several times I have flown into JFK and then traveled into Manhattan. Never done SW because it felt like a further airport even than JFK.

Sadly, I am not on twitter, facebook or any social media (weird I know.) This is my only social media LOL. Sometimes I think I should join twitter whenever these type of suggestions are made on this forum but so far I have not taken the time to figure it out.

R/churning would be the other place to ask. There are people there that pay rent with bilt.

Just used DH's support link to apply for a CIP with the new 100k for $8k MSR. Got a "we'll think about it" message while simultaneously getting a "your new card is in your account!" email lol. Haven't had a CIP in yearsss!! Bring on 140k+ URs!
The 100k CIP is available via support now?

ETA: I see that it is! Thanks for the heads up; I just checked this morning and it wasn't yet. What's great about the Ink Preferred is no foreign transaction fees, which I def need for summer travel.

It takes just a couple minutes to join Twitter and if you aren't comfortable using a real email, make a new dummy email. I'm old and I did it. I read stuff on Twitter now but at the beginning I signed up solely for the travel help. A tweet at SouthWest or American or whoever might get you the answer you need/want. I think my first DM was to SW because there was a spelling error on my son's ticket. They had it fixed in 10 minutes, whereas everyone else told me I'd have to wait in line at the airport to fix it.

How did you feel on a solo trip? I'm itching to visit places like Arches NP again but a little scared about doing it alone.....
I’m a veteran solo traveler. I am fine being by myself, eating by myself. I’ve been to Disneyland x2, Universal (Hollywood and Florida), Colorado, South Carolina, New York, Boston, LA, San Diego, Grand Canyon, Canada, … and I’m sure more solo. Sometimes I was on a work trip and I extended with some leisure days. Sometimes I just didn’t have a travel partner like my recent trip to Banff And I went alone.

I still like traveling with family/friends but I don’t shy away from traveling solo. The biggest issue is I don’t have someone to watch my bag at the airport or save my place when waiting for a parade.

For Utah, I wouldn’t have a problem. I was glad my son went to Glacier NP with me. I would have skipped some trails if I had gone solo due to the fear of bears. I was worried about Banff but as I said it was busy and I stuck with the most popular trails.

I’m not on any social media either. But I’ll 2nd what CyndiLouWho said. Twitter messaging has been a life saver for me on multiple occasions. I’m not super tech savvy, but I signed up for an account, and pretty quickly learned how to message companies. I too get quick and easy answers and fixes to my problems that would otherwise require a drawn out phone call. I highly recommend it to anyone. But to be honest I use the DM feature so infrequently now that I simply delete the Twitter app from my phone, and on the rare occasions I need it I just reload it again.

Anyone tried the BA balance booster when coupled with the Amex 30% transfer bonus yet? According to (trigger warning) TPG, it appears to work. I don't usually buy miles, but just over $.0109 when coupled with the bonus makes it enticing: https://thepointsguy.com/news/british-airways-avios-balance-boost/
I have no idea about this but now I need to look into it. I think I need a flight from LHR next summer. We flew on BA J a few weeks ago and I was underwhelmed (and really annoyed because there was nowhere at all to put things when my seat was flat - no drawer or cubby or anything and my stuff kept falling into the seat). Anyway, BA seems to be one of the better options for our route, so thanks for the heads up on this one.

I'll let you know how it goes if I decide to give it a go. I think I will. We fly a lot of J/F on BA as we go to London 3-4 times a year. I just flew F back last week, and it was fine, but so much depends on the plane. I need to do a better job of figuring out what planes to try to get, but my luck it will get change. I love the new J suites (with doors), but DH finds them too tight.

Marriott makes this really easy to book in the app. Once you select your dates, it will say something like, "Would you like to apply a 50k certificate?" or some type of toggle to apply them. Then it will show that you're using a certificate + X number of points. Some people will book each night individually, as rates per night change (in the event you wanted to stalk for rate drops). You can also just book all 5 nights consecutively with the certs.

As FreeDiningFanatic said, it is very easy. I am currently booked at Swan Reserve on 5 FNCs and the app/website just guided me through it.

For the CFF bonus categories, does anyone know if any of the third party ticket sellers will code as live entertainment? I seem to remember someone in the past saying UT codes as travel. I am guessing they probably all do.

Applied for P2 and had exactly the same result. Seems I never get a straightforward approval from Chase these days - either 'In Review' or the page just hangs so I think the application might not have gone through. Either way card seems to show up in account soon enough.

Ugh, I got my first denial ever. Just dropped to 3/24 July 1st and applied for a CIC. I'll look up the recon number and call tomorrow. I wonder if Chase is mad that I closed my CIU in May and that I'm carrying a balance on my previous CIC. Hopefully it's just that my CL with them is too high and that they can lower it on another card or something like that. Sigh, this put a damper on my evening...

Welcome to the Club! You aren’t playing The Game hard enough until you hit a denial 😜

To anyone out there that has the BILT Mastercard, do you know if that will work to pay the rent for someone else or does the apartment lease have to be the same name as the card? I was wanting it to pay the rent for two of my kids but it looks like you can only pay rent once per month. That should still work for us because one kid's rent is only due at the beginning of the semester and the other one is due once per month. One landlord wants venmo and the other one wants a check. It's nice to see BILT does both now. I am just a little worried about using one of my 5/24 slots on this card unless I am sure I can use it pay both rents.
Why don’t you try to use one of the kids 5/24 slots? I would not waste a 5/24 on Bilt.
