My DH has gotten the cruise bug and now wants to do Alaska in Aug. (He seems to have forgotten that I will still be working and not retired like him.) We are looking at this itinerary. Any thoughts on it?View attachment 733470
In general, you get a better path with prettier views if you sail the Inside Passage out of Vancouver instead of Seattle. It's really pretty and quite narrow, so you can see a lot on both sides. This may or may not matter to you though. Otherwise it looks like a pretty good itinerary for a one week RT cruise IMHO. We did Ketchikan instead of Sitka but I'd be happy with either one.

We did that exact same itinerary/ship, though we missed Endicott/Dawes due to a medical emergency. First Alaska cruise, so I have nothing to compare it to. Picked it because I like the ships with bells and whistles. Though we didn't end up going on the North Star because of high winds during our slot.

Favorite stop was Skagway where we rented a car and drove the Klondike Highway, wish we'd gotten further (didn't get an early start and car rental line was long). So beautiful. Reminded us a little of Iceland.

I have never thought of downgrading and reapplying for a new Chase Sapphire. How long would I need to wait after downgrading before applying do you think?

Also, my wife and I both received the same chase sapphire years ago (at the time we did not know about applying individually), so I’m guessing I could downgrade our current CSP cards and then we each could individually apply for a new CSP to double our bonus potentially?

Thank you!

So if I understand correctly - you have one Chase Sapphire account with your wife as an authorized user? Or vice versa?

Either way, as far as Chase is concerned for application purposes only the primary card holder (the account owner) has a CSP. therefore, you want to generate a referral link from that CSP and have your wife apply for her own CSP. You can then downgrade your CSP to a Chase Freedom, and once your wife is in receipt of her own card, she can generate a referral link for you to apply for a new CSP. This way you will maximize the Chase URs you generate.

This can all happen in fairly short order, or you can give some space between cards if it suits your planning/budgetary purposes. I usually tend to leave a few months between applications for the same card for my wife and I, but that is just my preference and not strictly necessary.

Uggh. Spring break flights changed. Trying to put me on a 5am departure. With a 3 yo, I don’t think that will work. Who am I kidding, it doesn’t work for me either:rotfl2:. Trying to find a suitable flight but might have to cut our trip short a day and fly back on Friday.

Thanks…Will have to keep an eye on our April 15th and 22nd flights

I also received a SW flight modification for over Easter. Just 15 mins though.

Speaking of the $900 Chase offer, would there be a reasonable way for both me and P2 to take advantage of it if we only had ~$20,000 to park? I'm thinking if I open the accounts in my name now, deposit the necessary funds right away, wait the necessary 90 days from account opening, then open the accounts in P2's name close to the expiration date of the deal, I might be able to move the funds into P2's account quickly enough? It looks like timing might be tight, though...

Thanks for this idea. I see my coupon says open an account by 4/19. So I think your plan would work, and then as I understand it, you have 30 days after account opening/coupon enrollment to completely deposit the funds. Like a PP poster said, don't dawdle, but I think that will help with a bit of buffer. No harm in going for it, right?

Received the $50 ATT Fiber offer on 3 Inks between P1/P2. I believe paying my wireless bill in the past has triggered this offer, but will report back.

"$50 back when you sign up with AT&T Fiber by making two $50 minimum purchases using your eligible card associated with this offer"

We got an email today, so 3 days after DH applied, outlining the steps to get the $900 bonus. AT the bottom it says 'your coupon enrollment date is 1/16'
Did you ever end up hearing from them about this? I just applied and got the same message.
Yes, they replied the same day and said the offer was attached, and included the details of the offer in the secure message. However, I have not yet gotten the email explaining the offer, although today is only the second day after I applied. I am pretty sure that Chase would honor it based on the secure message but I still would like the email too.

That would be nice, do report back!

We did the same in Skagway. It was amazing.

Thanks to all for the advice on the $900 offer! Opened the accounts last night and will work on getting the $$ moved this weekend. Fingers crossed I can also set DH up to take advantage of this offer right before the expiration date!

I also appreciate all the talk about Alaska cruises. This is on my "want to do" list for the next few years, so I'm reading eagerly ☺️

Anyone open Chase accounts in branch before? I am an existing customer but not checking (thinking of the $900 bonus), I wonder if it’s quick and easy or will be long and tedious. Thanks!

Did the online process take you long? I’m debating between online and in branch. Not a fan of putting all my personal info in a online form.

I have an old Chase Slate card that I haven’t used in years. It has no cash back benefit or anything else, so it’s essentially no use to me at all. I want to get rid of it, but what’s the best way to do it? Should I just close the account? Or I may be wrong, but it seems I remember reading something a long time ago that I could SM Chase to move the credit line from this card to one of my other Chase cards and then close this one so I still have the same credit line amount with Chase. Is that accurate? Any other ideas?

I have the United biz card that will be coming up for renewal on Feb 1. Thinking about canceling to avoid the AF. I have the United Gateway card (PCed it from the Quest last year.). I only do carry on these days ( even for international travel) so no need for a free checked bag. I also have a Priority pass for airport lounges from my Venture x card. Any reasons I might be missing to keep this card?

Chase is playing with me. They've sent me preapprovals for several business cards. The one I want is the CIC. This morning I got a preapproval for the CIU. I opened it and started the application than I aborted. I could take the CIU and product change in a year but, well that's what I did last time. Guess I'll wait to see what tomorrow brings.

Why not just apply for the CIC using a support link? Do these have better offers?
