Oh wow, I really don't like paying cash so didn't even think about that, but the cash rate for one night is only $82, I think I'll book one night cash for the second room.

Wow, that's insanely good! I'm sure part of it has to do with the great exchange rate.

I'm not holding out much hope for our winter trip. Thinking summer 2024 since we have Europe next summer. A bit bummed that we might miss out on the great exchange rate!

The Brand Explorer FNC expiration is 1 year. Only the 30 night milestone (and the Bonus Journey promo they had last year) are 180 days.

It was making me so confused I put it on my spreadsheet lol.

Oh good. That means I can more easily combine it with my annual cert. Stay that does it is end of Feb and I get mine in May so they will be close enough I'll have enough time to come up with something.

That exchange rate is so nice right now. Prices will start going up to combat it so I'm sure by next year it won't be as exciting but I can hope.

If you have no use for the fnc I would use it. With the caveat that if you have to cancel you'd still have time to use it.

Trying to figure this out as well. I won't have use for my hilton or hyatt fnc outside of what's already booked. I'll see if I can use Hilton for Nov if there's still rooms and they can cancel and rebook it. Otherwise hopefully the expiration is out far enough I can use it in Osaka since it'll prob have higher points than Tokyo Bay.

Hyatt I've no idea what I'll do. I'll earn one in Feb for hitting 5 dif brands. But I'm sure I won't get it before my March trip and that would also depend on being able to cancel/rebook. And this cert is only good for 6 months right? None of my Japan hotels are below a cat 5 after the shuffle.
a lot of hotels in Orlando like grand cypress and the airport are cat 1-4 maybe if you have an early flight or a Disney trip (this is my goto for these certificates). and yes you have 1 year with the brand explorer.
You can combine them too with the pay your way feature also. I forget to do this half the time.

Need some advice on applications...

I applied for a CIU on 8/5 and after the spinning wheel finally stopped I got a screen that said "this offer is no longer available" ??? I've had something like this happen once before when applying for a CIP years ago, so I waited a week to see if I'd get either a letter or a new card in my account. Nothing. Well, turns out they DID pull my credit because credit karma shows the inquiry and my score went down-- lowest it's been in a decade, like mid 700s >:(My Equifax shows 8 total inquiries now over the last 2 years, but only 3 from this year (including this one). Argggh! The only cards I have in the last 24 mo are southwest biz from 1/22 and 3/22. The only amex I have is 3 years old and is bonbon. Think a plat or gold would be ok to go for or am I stuck waiting for an old inquiry to drop off?

TL;DR Chase pissed me off by pulling my credit and not actually running my application, and now my Equifax is cringe (for me) so I'm wondering if I could try for an Amex or just wait a few months and hope for the best.

How do you know they didn't run the application and it's not just stuck in pending?

As an existing Amex customer, you probably won't get an inquiry if you apply.

Bumping Japan to next Sept means I have everything for the next year planned. So the hilton either gets used this Nov (which is probably what will happen, I honestly wasn't expecting to be able to book DLR until next month when I should have had the cert, but they announced xmas this month) or next Sept depending on the expiration date. Hyatt either gets used in March or spring 2024. I don't like/want to create a trip just to use a fnc. I also already have wdw booked and don't/won't stay off site there. Coming from the west coast, the need to stay at the airport isn't there. I'm aware it's an option but I prefer the red eye and the evening flight home. I lose a vacation day traveling any other way to the east coast and I refuse to lose that much usable time in the air :)

Go back a page and read post #8183. Has been happening for over a year sometimes. I would call Chase and inquire about the app. It’s been less than 2 weeks, could still be approved.

yeah, I hate early flights but for instance, a 6am flight can sometimes be half the price of a 9am (going to la is my example) I would also do late flights going the other way.

I guess I can't be sure, but I assumed there would be a letter in my docs by now. I'll call.

ETA: there are no applications pending :confused3

Just called to check and there are no apps pending for me. Looks like I got a hard pull for nothing.
