I've been hoping to snag a second AmEx Biz Plat with the 150,000 NLL offer floating around. Kept getting the "offer expired" screen. Until Monday - when suddenly it was available and I was able to grab one.

Plus, I can't help myself so today applied for the 80,000 +$95 Barclays Biz AA offer. Immediate approval with a larger than expected CL - $12,600. Then applied for the 80,000 +$99 Barclays JetBlue offer - that one went pending - said answer in a week. I'm going to wait it out to see what they come back with, but hoping I can recon and split the CL form the AA card to get both approved. We'll see.

I have a ton of spend upcoming - so glad to be able to grab a couple of useful cards while spacing out my Chase Biz applications.

I'm thinking of using UR points to get DS a new phone. He has an XR and broke the screen and needs a new battery. I'm not sure I want to put $250 into a three-year old phone.
That's what we did with some of our UR's. All of our iPhones(6, 6s, 6s, & 7) were no longer going to be supported by Sprint/T-Mobil at the end of March.

Perfect timing. I just saw on reddit an article that was posted about a bonus promotion for doing just this. https://9to5mac.com/2022/05/02/chase-apple-points-promo/

Chase has announced it is once again offering a bonus for cardholders when they redeem their Ultimate Rewards points for Apple products. The promotion is similar to ones Chase has run in the past, offering an up to 50% bonus, which starts today ang goes until the end of the month.

Here are the details on this promotion:

  • Freedom, Freedom Unlimited, Freedom Flex, and Freedom Student: Points are worth 10% more
  • Ink Business Cash, Ink Cash and Ink Business Unlimited: Points are worth 10% more
  • Ink Business Preferred and Ink Plus: Points are worth 25% more
  • Sapphire Preferred: Points are worth 25% more
  • Sapphire Reserve: Points are worth 50% more
  • JPMorgan Reserve: Points are worth 50% more
Wish this was going on back in March! Would of been nice to save some UR's!

I think several people here used it when they ran this promotion last time, but it took a really long time for the products to ship. It is a great deal, but just keep the shipping delay into consideration.
I think I'm going to give ds my old work xs and order a 13. Of course my ex doesn't think he should get a new phone which I don't entirely disagree with but...

So used car prices going up made my personal property tax bill go up 58% from last year (exact same cars, just a year older). Of course property taxes are up a ton too. So to save money I'm re-shopping auto and umbrella policies. I'm paying $4200/year for Geico plus almost $600 for my umbrella policy. State Farm is $2800/year and I'm thinking their umbrella policy might be cheaper (still need a quote). I hate how you constantly have to re-shop insurance, but I need to find somewhere to cut to offset price increases everywhere else.

We had a State Farm umbrella policy for 1 million on top of our home owners and car (3 cars) and I feel like it was $20-something a month? We had to leave State Farm as they dropped us after a laundry room claim (we had a big kitchen leak 4 year earlier so I guess that was it). I'd had SF since I got my first car in college so it was sad for us to leave, even though we're saving money having moved everything to Amica. In hindsight we shouldn't have bothered with the laundry room claim, it was only around $4k but we knew there was asbestos in the flooring that would require special handling and this was early pandemic and just wanted to be cautious with spending out of pocket, not knowing just how secure our jobs were. Anyway, they declined (just based on photos, they wouldn't send an adjuster out) and we paid out of pocket anyway and then they dropped us.

This is why I hate insurance companies. You pay for years, 2 claims (one of which they didn't pay) and they drop you. We had Mercury and had 2 claims in 3 years (flooding) and they raised rates but didn't drop us. A year later we bought a new house which they refused to insure because our old house flooded. Moved to new house because it DIDN'T flood. No logic.

Anyone know how long it takes for Hyatt to transfer points after submitting a request via email? Sent a request on Saturday night and still nothing...

ymmv, it depends on how much requests is going on and how many workers are doing it.
it has taken between 3 days to 2 weeks for me.
pre-pandemic, 3 days was the most i waited

Good to know, thanks!

Any reason I need to keep multiple CIU open?
And can we have multiple CIC as well?

Oh one more, we both have the old $49 fee IHG card still open, and the premier (just cancelled P2s this morning). I also have the biz. I see there is now a personal with 0 annual fee (I know it doens't have a free night each year). Any reason we can't get that card to add to our IHG points?

Got a good rate from Travelers when we moved to VA - for home, auto, and umbrella. It was somewhat hard to find a company that would insure a 23 year old roof but they did (we have since replaced the roof)

Haven't gotten the personal and property tax bills yet but our house value went up 10%. PA did not reassess every year!

I’m using mutual assurance society for homesowners. It’s an insane deal (< $400/year and annual increases are tiny). So I can’t really bundle.

Travelers is still worth a look. I only have my mustang and use them. I won't do progressive or Geico and they were they next lowest. I did do a little looking on my own, but do use a local agent that only sells certain places. But the other she recommended that they don't sell was more.

It's hard to compare. Almost makes me want to make a dummy email and phone cause nothing online that I've found will let you just get a quote without providing contact info.

I know. I’ve gotten so many calls and texts today. My ex’s wife works for an insurance broker and I use them for our commercial policies at work so that’s my next option.

I’m leaving for Germany on Saturday flying from Houston to Dulles to meet my sister and then we fly nonstop to Frankfurt. I have two United lounge passes or I could just use the priority lounge. Does anyone know if one is better than the other at Dulles? I will have a long layover (6 hours intentional on my part).

Back from my quickie trip to MYR w/ the BF. I am so bummed that I couldn't follow him to BNA as he has a 30 hour overnight in Nashville which never happens! He texted me once he got to the hotel and told me I'd be super bummed, LOL. Darn that teaching job. But I got some much needed sun for 2 days! And we talked about logistics of getting me to BNA for a trip together. We'll price the cost of a ticket for me, vs using his benefits to ATL or Louisville and then renting a car. So at least I know we have some sort of plan to try and do Nashville soon.

No experience this year, but whenever I call they always want me to call closer to the date of travel or expiration. You can try calling now since they expire in June.
When they originally expired in Jan, I had called in like Oct/Nov and they told me I'd need to keep the card open and call sooner. I have them tentatively planned for a trip in June, but I'd be willing to hold off using them if I could extend them and use them somewhere else, better. Anyone know how long they have extended them in the past?

Have you looked at your carrier? My son wants a new phone for his bday. ATT is giving $350 trade in on his (iphone 8). But there are some phones that are 50% off (I think the 12 and 12 mini). So I'm looking at possibly getting him one of those.

I'm so upset at the new barclay biz AA offer. I decided to keep that card open and close the personal, since it took like 364 tries to get approved for the biz! I keep wondering if I close it, how fast I can try to churn it. I need an AA card for my summer trips though (for the free luggage). I got the card 10/20, so not sure if I could churn it. UGH. Congrats though!

I have 2 CIC. One was from a PC from a CIP. I also have the free, premier and biz IHG. But I feel there is a clause if you have the $49 one, you can't get SUB on the others anymore. You might need to read the fine print.
