Hi folks! Planning on trying out MDD for CSP + CSR this week. Saw the strategy :-)
Questions:
Is Chase Recon open tomorrow given the holiday? I'm thinking not so will need to wait until Tuesday
Also, I think I'll go for CSP first since the SUB is better, unless I'm missing something?
I would wait until Tuesday. Recon isn’t as important for the 1st card approval. It’s more important if you aren’t instantly approved for the 2nd card. Tuesday gives you a safe start if recon is necessary for either card. It doesn’t matter which card you apply for first. However, the recommendation is to apply for the card you want the most first, in case your denied the 2nd card.

Kind of off-topic, but not since there have been lots of ccard deals in the past, but can someone recommend a good mattress in a box? Looking at Casper, Tuft & Needle, Avocado, and any other brand someone may want to recommend.
We have the original Tuft and Needle. It took me a solid month to adapt from a spring mattress, but now I love it. I think it’s very hard to recommend a mattress because it’s so individual. My mom though she might like a box mattress, but as soon as she laid on ours she said “nope!” Tuft and Needle has a great return policy which is why I went for it. I would look at each company’s return policy before buying.

My wife and I got a Zinus, I'm not sure if we got it from Amazon or Walmart. My wife says Walmart but sometimes her memory is sketchier than mine. We've had it for two years now and have been very happy with it. It's been much better than the majority of hotel mattresses we've slept on in that time.

That's what I bought for my son and he's had no complaints.
I went with the Ashley branded one for my guest room and while older son hasn't complained about it (better than Army barracks I'm sure) I don't think it's as good as the Zinus.

Is the Bull and Bear worth its price? Currently have reservations for STK but, of course, B & B is pretty down the elevator so it has the convenience factor.

I got a Zinus for my youngest at the start of the pandemic when we needed a mattress for her but couldn't go out anywhere to try them. I've laid on it but haven't ever slept on it. It seems fine but not as nice as the hybrid mattress that DH and I have. She has no complaints on it and for the price, we ordered it from Amazon, it seems fine. If you going to gamble on one not it a store, its a pretty cheap bet.

I got an Avocado about 2 years ago (pre-pandemic) and while I do like it, I think it was a bit on the expensive side for what it is.

I’m obsessed with my Purple mattress. My parents slept on it when they were visiting and now have two at their house. Anyone who’s slept on it (visiting my parents or house sitting) says they want to get one. The “grid” took me a bit to get used to, but I don’t sleep anywhere near as well on any other mattress. I think I have what they call the “3” now.

OFF TOPIC! Motion sickness, specifically car sickness, relief recommendations please!

My 11yr old DD has mild car sickness, has only vomited once in multiple longer trips, but has been complaining about nausea more lately. Even on 10 minute rides. We have a road trip in 2 weeks and I’ve been researching options, but thought maybe you guys could offer suggestions. So far I’m looking at Sea Bands and Dramamine. I highly doubt she’ll try ginger, she’s finicky 😏 My concern about Dramamine is that it will make her sleepy. It’s not the end of the world, but I’d rather not knock her out, or make her grumpy because she’s sleepy. Do any of you have experience with either Sea Bands or Dramamine (Bonine), either personally or with kids? Thank you!

These anti-motion sickness glasses look interesting and they have some really good reviews. If they work, it could be a game changer. I am thinking of ordering a pair for an upcoming road trip. I have only gotten car sick a few times but it is very uncomfortable.

We purchased a Tuft & Needle from Amazon during a Prime Day. Great price, cheaper than Casper, 100-day trial and return policy. We ended up returning it after less than a month. The mattress was mushy and had no edge support. The return was fairly easy. Contacted Amazon, which had special handling come and haul away the mattress. They literally dragged the mattress from my home and onto a truck parked across the street. I guess it went to donations.

While we still had the T&N, we went over to the Casper showroom in Cow Hollow. If you’re ever in the city, you should give it a try. Slept on a few of their models, and really liked the Original. I felt the Casper Element was too soft and the Casper Wave was too firm. There’s a new Nova model, too. The Original has a great balance of softness and support. I had recurring back problems sleeping on our old box spring, and the T&N just made it worse. I rarely feel back pain from sleep since getting the Casper Original. Their pillows have also been amazing for my neck.

Casper is much pricier, but they offer lots of opportunity to stack discounts. There’s a Memorial Day sale going on right now until 5/31 for 15% off their mattresses. (Although 15% off is fairly common.) However, if you purchase a mattress through a Casper supportal link, you can do better with 20% off. Also, check your Chase credit cards. Chase Offers also has an offer for 15% off Casper .com purchases over $350, with a maximum of $135 (YMMV - max spend $900). Don’t forget to go through/activate a shopping portal of your choice: https://www.cashbackmonitor.com/cashback-store/casper/ Rakuten looks good at 2.5% (MR), or Chase Freedom UR portal at 3x if you’re willing to risk it not tracking. Casper also has a 100-day trial/return period on their mattresses, so there’s no risk and just a little inconvenience if you decide to buy it just to try it.

Ultimately, the mattress you sleep on is immensely personal. You’re not going to get the right answer for you from any one of us on the Internet. Don’t feel bad about trying a mattress (or several) and returning it if it’s not the right feel for you. That’s what their trial and return policies are there for. Good luck!

It is time to buy our DDs’ new carryon suitcases. I wish I would have bought 2 during Away’s last sale, but I didn’t plan ahead. I want to buy 2 suitcases that will last, for less than $400 total.
looking at https://www.ebags.com/luggage/wheel...XXXX_color=Garnet&cgidmaster=carry-on-luggage
Or

I have the older version of the spinner and I still love it. You can easily have an entire weeks worth of stuff in it and its held up well being checked. I check it about 50% of the time. Love the outside pockets to easily reach items.

Finally getting P2 interested in applying for a CSP. Just wanted to ask how many days do you get for meeting the MSR for the SUP? I know it’s 3 months but trying to time it a little bit for the oil prepayment we usually make in august. Thanks!

I bought several of these last year, so haven’t had them long enough to know their lastability (new word?) but I do like mine. I like the expandable zipper, so you can use it as a carryon or as a checked bag. If I remember right, size wise, it’s right on the edge as far as being acceptable as a carryon. Just barely small enough with the expandable zipper zipped. I don’t have a ton of experience with luggage though.

I've been reading all the mattress posts. I have been buying mattresses and discarding them after a couple of years as they become less comfortable to me.

So, I also was checking out Casper as well as others but haven't pulled the trigger on any yet. This morning I decided to look for store locations to do instore research and found that they are nearby - Tyson's Corner in Virginia, Nordstrom's and ...surprise to me .......through the Target website. The last one was interesting price wise because a target red card gets an additional 5% off, unless there is something I'm missing. That beats my $135 through my Chase offer at more than $200 depending on size purchased.

And, Good Morning, Lain. I was thinking of you when the mattress talk started and remembered your purchase. Good to hear it is working well for you.

Speaking of which, I noticed my local Costco selling Casper “Select” mattresses a few weeks ago. I don’t know how the “Select” label compares to the Casper “Original” or their other models (the Casper Original comes in All Foam and Hybrid options - we opted for All Foam), but Costco might be cheaper than Casper online.

I’m seeing the Casper Select memory foam mattress on Costco .com for $649.99 (Queen), $849.99 (King), with $120 and $160 off respectively until 6/4/21. Also available in Full (OOS) and a California King. https://www.costco.com/casper-select-12"-memory-foam-medium-mattress.product.100428876.html

There’s a pricier Casper Select Hybrid model, too (not on sale): https://www.costco.com/casper-select-12"-hybrid-medium-mattress.product.100761275.html

Do the math and read the reviews to compare.

I have had 3k lines on all my recent Chase biz cards. I have other biz cards to move the credit lines around though.
I’ve been getting 3k on my and DH new CIC/CIU approvals. I don’t wait long, like a a few days, after I have the card and ask to move credit from another card. Just saying you don’t have to wait for the first statement if you don’t want to.

I have 5K CL on CIP and 10K on CIC. Can I ask them to move CL via SM or do I have to call them? Also, can I be very specific as to how much CL to move and from what card? I am probably going to cancel the CIP before the next AF is due so maybe moving some of that CL would be best?

just wondering how many actually contact the CC company and let them know you are traveling. I have but probably only 10% of the time. I’ve never had a problem or mistaken fraud alert when using my card in another state.

I’m only traveling domestically. Maybe my first international trip I’d think different.

I have been getting quite a few fraud alert text messages from Chase lately and not just at gas stations.
