Yes—with Schwab you can cash out the 115k MRs for $1,440. Plus you get 3-4 $100 dell credits plus one $200 airline credit (since that’s getting chopped next year). So for me it’s worth it since I have a lot of spend (estimated quarterly tax payments).

I just read that Southwest has ferried additional fuel to Nashville and that AA has changed schedules due to possible jet fuel shortages.

And another report says it should be ok by Friday, but if it isn't there will be severe shortages in less than 2 weeks.

About to go on a road trip tomorrow... now a bit worried about all the fuel issues in the EC, and hoping we won't have any issues out West. Also glad we rented a hybrid for this trip (although it's still an SUV so I suspect the mileage won't be that great). I just don't want to get stuck somewhere in the middle of nowhere!

Also, for those of you having to deal with the shortages at home, I hope things improve soon. It's a bad situation all around.

According to my research you would get a pop up that you are illegible. If there was lifetime language, it is typically the first sentence, something like this:

OFFER TERMS
Welcome offer not available to applicants who have or have had this Card. We may also consider the number of American Express Cards you have opened and closed as well as other factors in making a decision on your welcome offer eligibility.

I'm for sure not an expert on it, but I redeemed my miles to cover my annual fee last October and got one cent per point for it. As far as I know it wasn't a special promotion, but here's a screenshot of my redemption. It's the one for $89. It also let the redemption be for less than $100.

I'm trying to redeem all of my miles on both of our accounts to close them when the next annual fee posts. I just feel like I'm always have problems trying to get the redemptions to work out. For example now, in my account I have 13,809 points which would be worth $138.09. I have two charges the points can be used for and both are over $300. Well, I can only use in increments of $25.00, so my options are to use $100 or $125 worth of points which would leave $13.09 that I can't redeem. That just bugs me, but I guess it is what it is. My only option as I understand it would be to charge something that I could erase in full and then it would let me use an odd number of points. Not sure how I'd ever luck out to charge a travel related expense for $138.09

Just thinking to try to inspire some ideas: I assume AAA is considered "travel", and AAA sells various gift cards (at a discount), but I don't think any of them were variable?

Gosh darnit! Just after I decide to hit buy on my AA tickets to NC for this summer....Delta emails me about 10k round trip tickets to Alaska! I'm over here now thinking do I need to cancel my NC tickets and start planning Alaska, LOL. Huge different between Alaska and the beach, LOL.

Maybe I'll see what hotels there are and that might sway me......UGH. I'm not even sure if the kids would want to....but it's one of those, when am I gonna get to go to Alaska so cheap kind of things.

One advantage for Alaska, any cruise port should have fewer tourists than normal years (with the cruise lines not running this year, to Alaska)

You should be fine since that pipeline only supplies the EC. One of the largest county school systems in MD went through this in the late fall. It is just out of control.

Yes, there's a pop up for 'because you have or had this card before' if there's lifetime language lurking. So you have an opportunity to cancel before you submit.

When you pull up the application and click on the Offer and Benefits terms, it's usually in bold text right at the top of the Offer terms. If it's not there then you should be good.

That's great to hear. Numerous entities have our information. Right now, all I get are the ridiculous phone calls, demanding I call about 'possible arrest'. Trying to intimidate I guess.

I also get the 'I want to buy your house' calls. Those are so annoying. As well as the texts asking me to call them about selling. I have a home that is in the affordable range for this area so I'm a call, text, email, postcard, and letter target. Next they'll be knocking at my door....

I no longer answer any calls unless I have it in my contacts and the name pops up. Son called me from the hospital yesterday using a number I wasn't familiar with. He left a message and I called him back fairly quickly. Added the number to my contacts.

Hopefully any legitimate calls will leave messages.

Now that I sold my rental I don't get them for my house but for my mom's house. Umm no.

I will say the one good thing, knock on wood it doesn't change, about still having an NC area code, is when I do get a local call it's for me. Though there are a couple new area codes between WA and OR that I need to write down because of work calls so I know to answer them.

I activated it on the Disney card that didn't get the 5% on everything. So between that one (which I won't be able to max out) and the 5% on everything on our two other cards, I should hopefully get some darn nice Disney Rewards
