Is the Disney Visa worth it if...
-I've got two credit cards already which give me better cashback/miles
-I visit WDW every other year only
-I'm a teacher, so I need to go during school holidays (that is, couldn't necessarily take advantage of cardholder discounts at resorts)
-We don't do table service dining, only QS
I really want one, but I think it's just a want, and not something which would serve me. I'd love to hear from the impartial experts!
First, a question. What are your other two cards and if they are Chase cards, how long have you had them?
If the Disney card would be your first Chase card and you've had the other two for more than 2 years, sure. Grab the Disney card. Get the $250 offer, nothing less. Then, after a year, cancel it. You will be ahead $200, and if necessary apply again.
Now, if you have no other Chase cards, there are some valuable rewards out there.
I've had both Disney cards and those $200 rewards came in handy on my visit. For spending $500 that's a real nice benefit.
However, I would not keep paying an annual fee on a Disney card. Especially if you have better options for points and miles. There is a no fee card as well as a $49 card. I think both can get you $200 profit plus a few points.
Many on this board are collecting a lot of different points. Mostly ultimate rewards from Chase and Membership rewards from American Express. These points are super flexible and can be used for almost anything from hotel rooms to flights to ride on lawn mowers (that's what I bought.)
Anyway, I see nothing wrong with wanting and getting a disney card. Just after you get the reward, keep a no fee for the Disney feel and put your spend on some cards with more flexible points.
