Thanks for the replies. I think for now my safest move is to transfer UR points to United and book there. Their lenient cancellation policy is what sold me. As I get more UR points. I'll transfer more for additional flights or upgrades to biz class (booking economy preferred for now). Since our daughter and son-in-law are there for 3 years, I see several flights to Germany in our future!

Transferring to United makes total sense to me given the route you are looking at. Houston is a United transfer hub, and Frankfurt is another. We have flown through Frankfurt numerous times coming and going from Europe over the years on Star Alliance flights using United miles. Since your daughter and son-in-law are going to in Frankfurt/Germany for several years, I have no doubt you will find a way to use those United miles even if f you end up cancelling the flights you are about to book.

1. find the airline that flies the route you want. If your okay with a stop somewhere, then ur wide open.
2. pick the class you want, if your looking for J or F, u will need to do more searches, usually from a the east coast.

guess, im a little busy with midterms right now but judging from it, Houston to Frankfurt, u would def want to look at Lufthansa. which is a Star Alliance member, aka US carrier match is UA. There might be other programs that may save you points, aka ANA(RT only) or Turkish(Citi, maybe Cap1 partner?) requires a call in. Easy way, UR --> UA, book. 2nd thing to check are portals, UR portals... compare with UA direct point booking. Once you get a little searching, report back.

some ideas, u can try to fly cheaply on say SW to east coast and save some points over the ocean if u got a CP... just some ideas...

also May u will have a better chance on savers than dec 17-27. dec times, after 25th will save u some points/money.

Great points! I have the SW CP and trying to increase my RR points now without getting another SW credit card until the end of this year to renew my CP for 2022 and 2023. We plan to fly to BWI if we get a possible seat on a Space A military flight, since that is the terminal for flights to Ramstein, our destination!
The best option is to book with points to keep the flights flexible. United said I could cancel even the day before the flight without penalty using points with the current pandemic rule.

Howdy. So, due to an unusual tax year, we owe about 43k in income tax. I thought I could look it as an opportunity? So, if you had a lot to put towards a new MSRs or general point earning on existing cards, what would you recommend?

Here’s the cards we currently have:
P1 (me) 3/24
Chase Sapphire Reserve
Chase Southwest Performance Business
Chase Southwest personal (Companion pass through 2021)
Amex Plat
Amex Hilton Aspire
Chase IHG
Chase Marriott Bonvoy

P2 1/24 or 2/24
Chase Disney
Chase Sapphire Reserve
Amex Plat
Chase Marriott Bonvoy

Any SUPs/points would have to outweigh the 2-3% transaction fee. Thanks for any advice in advance.

Has anyone bought anything on Home Depot dot com and used PYB? Wondering if I should go buy gift cards and then order online and pay with gift cards or if I can just order online and it will code as Home Depot so I can PYB. Item isn't in the store so that isn't an option.

Yes, I ordered a new dishwasher on homedepot.com and had no issue using PYB to erase the purchase.

Definitely an opportunity! There are 3 credit card processors, the cheapest is at 1.96%, the other 2 are 1.99. You can do 2 payments with each.

If you are able to be approved for Chase biz cards, you can do Chase Ink Unlimited or Ink Cash, 75k UR for $7500 spend. Or Chase Ink Preferred is 100k UR for $15k spend. They've been giving low CL lately, so that may be an issue. You can support P2 for an extra 20k URs.

The Amex business platinum has a 110k MR for 15k spend offer by support, if you can pull that up. Charges over $5000 get 1.5x MR.

I would do CIU x2 because it's 1.5x anything (but consider the CIC if you can use the 5% categories later on). Plus biz plat x2. $45k MSR - done!

If these don't work for you, can also look at the Hilton biz. $15k spend gets you a free night. The SUB is currently elevated at 150k for $2000 spend, with a $150 credit.

At what point do the mods just burn r/churning to the ground?? My helpful reminder... currently at -3 score. 😂 I know others have expressed similar sentiments about how much of a waste it has become.

I gave you a like when I saw your post this morning. It was at +1 then. It is frustrating when you try to be helpful and people just take points away. I've given up on trying to maintain karma.

i had suggested a few months ago to DD that she could try to get a partial reduction of her $450 CSR AF. I haven't seen any reports of it happening lately, but she was denied today. Perhaps travel is picking up?

HUCA?

Finally opened my B of A checking account for a $500 bonus (targeted offer because of an auto loan). Luckily I was able to go into my payroll app and switch the direct deposit fairly easily.

Used one of my BP Amex offers. OMG they were charging $3.50/gallon for premium. It's about $2.30/gallon at Costco here.

Our snow turned to slush and disappeared. Meanwhile my brother in CT had the snowblower out again. So glad I left CT when I was 17.

It’s just sort of a commentary on what happened there. Everything moved into the underground and now it’s just a downvote-fest even on stuff that isn’t “super secret unicorns”. I agree that the good info needed to stop being shared there, but can’t we at least make it a repository for generally helpful info for newer folks??

What kind of CL do people typically see for the Amex Biz plat? Is there any spacing I should be aware of with Amex; I believe both myself and P2 got Amex personal cards in the last 90 days.
