I applied early this afternoon and had the exact same thing happen!!! Weirdest thing ever. But then I got the credit notifications/ alerts. And tonight I got on the biz card site and now there is a 4th card (the new CIU). So yippee?!? Hope the offer is attached and that was a weird glitch with the offer unavailable language/pop up. I have yet to receive any notice at all from Chase.

This same thing just happened to me. I see that you ended up getting the card but did you also get the bonus points?

Tagging @georgina since it happened to her too.

Haven't received the physical card yet, have to spend $7500 to get the bonus points. I am not concerned about getting it, I believe it is a standard offer for anyone getting the card.

I thought I would share my daughter's in progress trip to a resort on the coast of Mexico, which encompasses the need to get a covid test for return to the US since January 26th.

She flew out on January 20 and is due to return tomorrow, January 31.

She rented a car before she left but on airport arrival they tried to 'up' the price. After a lengthy haggle, she told them to stuff it and found another rental elsewhere, but ended up with less car, which didn't please her.

Flew into Guadalajara, and spent the night there. I should take this opportunity to say daughter is very fluent in the Spanish language and has lived in Mexico city while doing language study abroad many years ago, and works in her linguistics field in the US. She is very familiar with visiting and driving around in Mexico, and many other countries, to my everlasting worry in general, but I have to grudgingly concede that she is very capable of navigating and has done so on 5 continents. Some of you may remember she was in Shanghai and Cambodia back in January of 2020. And she flew internationally after that as well.

The Marriott 7 day certificate, one of several she had acquired during the SPG/Marriott merger, was one of the reasons she was traveling. The other was probably boredom and a need to fly away to a warm place.

Anyway, I've been on the trip with her via WhatsApp and the weather was outstanding. The 7 night hotel was decent and actually very nice for a Cat 4 Sheraton, and she got lots of free food due to status. The ocean was right outside her window. She made a few visits to some cultural bits plus some shopping. The only thing I saw that I wanted was a very colorful chimenea but she complained it would not fit in her suitcase. Oh well.

So fast forward to covid testing. The hotel would arrange for a PCR test with results in time for a flight back for $200.

Daughter sniffed at that and took a ride to find her own test. She got a PCR done (for $48) and then found out it would be Monday before results would be returned. I don't know all the details of why this didn't sync up properly so I'll move forward.

After navigating several options in the $200 and $175 range (mostly private options) she figured out how to get an antigen test at Salud Digna (public clinic common in many local cities) for $13. The appointment had to be made online and it's a pretty popular option, so it took a bit to get the appointment. Good thing she had a car.

Anyway, the results are due in a couple of hours and hopefully it is negative.

She is now on hotel number 4 for tonight, hopefully the last before flying out on American tomorrow. All free on Marriott points and free flights of course, but last night and tonight were booked due to the test search. Meanwhile she is off on another quest to try on and buy some cowboy boots - talk about midlife crisis! (She's just over 40.) I told her try them on and take a picture and leave - she will rarely if ever wear them here.

The point here is that each hotel she was in, was able to help her get a test for a price that would get you back on a flight provided you test negative.

Tourism is suffering and the hotels were empty. She stayed at a Design hotel after the Sheraton and was one of 2 customers that night.

Everywhere she went, there was mask compliance. She always wears a mask. Everywhere was clean with sanitizing being done. She did not feel any more in danger of exposure there than here. I, on the other hand, being a senior would not get on a plane to anywhere right now. I feel safest at home.
Wow, what a saga! I was contemplating keeping my Spring Break plans to Punta Cana since they test right onsite but you have sealed the deal, I am canceling.

Thank you for sharing!

It gets better. Snowstorm tomorrow and her flight is to DFW and then supposed to land here at 2:30pm right in the middle of our 4 to 8 inch projection. I told her to check out Dallas airport hotels. Maybe fly in from Dallas on Monday. Then again, maybe the storm will get delayed by a couple of hours and she will make it before they stop landing the planes.

For someone willing to pop an extra $200 per person, maybe not so bad. But she still would have had to travel to Guadalajara to get the test and then back to the hotel to finish her stay. The hotel had a contract with a private provider.

I'm going to edit to say that, although the trip is certainly not my risk level, some others might do just fine. I might hesitate with a child in the mix, but a couple with no risk factors would probably be fine.

I was reading about a Snowbird couple, from Canada who both contacted Covid in Florida. They go every winter to a Snowbird community in Largo, Florida, but got a chance to go a month early and took the opportunity. They had already purchased their usual health/insurance policy to start January 1, but arrived in Florida Dec 5. The man ended up in hospital - both survived, but insurance won't cover and so far they owe $300k just for him. Forget about national health insurance. On top of that, he's been airlifted back to Canada to continue treatment - she's stuck here but may get out in a few days. At least both are alive.

Had the Lowe's Amex offer on BBP. Bought a $500 Kroger GC and have received the email about both Amex offers - 10% off and the $25 off $500. Headed to Kroger tomorrow to buy a Disney GC with it and get 4x fuel points.

Now, if I could get the MF points to post it would be great but I am not expecting them.

Is she flying into DC? She might squeak in since further south will get less than us. Of course, I am in 10+ in band. I doubt DS will be making it to the ortho on Mon morning for his braces.

I have the FL Keys booked for Spring Break too and DS is happy with that pick for something different. I had also thought about Maui for a surprise but the WA isn’t available on std points so the Keys it is.

I think it's DCA after a quick look at AA flights. She's supposed to come in at 2:30pm. I didn't actually ask her - just asked who she was flying with and what time. She's in and out of all 3 airports. Our Sunday is 3 to 6 inches, and 4- 8 by the time it ends/changes over to rain on Monday. 10! Yikes!

Not sure what time she's getting to Dallas. She's not texting right now.

So far I'm still planning on Hilton Head for spring break. Mid March. Pretty sure I'm going. I think you will enjoy the Keys.

My long awaited CIC arrived today. It was changed over from a CIU on Dec 27.

So, 34 days. The envelop doesn't have a date stamp so don't know when it actually entered the postal system.

Meanwhile I was able to use the old card as a CIC.

I am trying to book a rental car on the Chase travel portal for the first time. This is actually our first time using Chase UR for any purpose other than transferring to SW. With the 1.5cents/ point redemption on CSR and free cancellation up to 6 hours before scheduled pick up, it seems like a good time to stop paying cash. Anyway, we are trying to decide whether to pay it all on points or if it is worth paying a small part on the card. We usually skip the rental car counters--if we put it all on points, will they have a card on file in advance (Budget this time), so we don't have to wait in line? What about rental car insurance through the credit card--does it cover if only a small part of the rental is charged, or if none is charged at all but the card is used to secure the rental? I appreciate any input.

No card yet. I did add an employee card and transferred some credit from a CIP. So it is definitely a new account. I was hoping there will be the information when the card comes that explains the offer. It is weird. I’m sorry it happened to you too!

Mine took forever too. I got it last week. I don't think it was quite a month, but close.

Nothing here yet. Maybe we can make it out to breakfast before it comes. Maybe I should go to the bakery now while DS is sleeping. Just in case. At least, I would have delicious lemon danishes to eat and a cocoa bomb I want to try.

I am considering using Chase Pay Yourself Back to purchase Disney gift cards at Lowe's at 1.5 cents per UR with my CSR. I thought I'd check here first to make sure that no one has run into problems doing this. I'll also check on the Disney gift cards thread.
It’s showed up for me but I didn’t buy gc. My minimum discount is 5%. Do you have any other way to get 5% at least? Buying to get dgc at 1.5% Isn’t the best you would be better off putting your charges on the CSR earn 3x travel then pyb.

if it’s the same price in ur portal vs paying for it I’d pay for it and earn the 3%. Then pyb Unless the portal is cheaper.

My CIC that was mailed on 12/21 still hasn’t arrived. Crazy!

I almost called to get a replacement but since I wasn't doing much outside the house, I decided to just wait it out, so long as the old card worked. The postal service has gotten ridiculous and I don't feel as if I can trust the service for anything important.

Daughter mailed Xmas card photos before Xmas and nobody we know has received any of them.

Sounds yummy! I made a big bowl of cut up fruit yesterday and daughter made liege waffles. We had them with nutella and fruit yesterday and I just had leftovers with coffee this morning. The snow arrived sometime after 3am, because when I looked out the window at that time the ground was still bare. When I got up, late at about 7:30am, the ground was white and it is falling gently. Texted daughter but no answer yet.

No sledding on Capitol Hill today. For those not in the area this is an old winter tradition. I took my kids when we lived on Bolling AFB back in the 80ties. School usually closes with 1 snowflake around here.

Not sure of there will be the pop up snow ball fight on Dupont Circle or not. These are little things that get mixed into the news culture around here.

In any case, I'll be enjoying my hot chocolate inside not outside.

Are/Have the PYB 1.5 categories changing ? ....From what I have seen the PYB on my CSR is for grocery stores, home improvement stores and dining

I tried to buy gift cards at a Lowe's a couple years ago and was told no credit cards. Went back the next day when DH was buying other stuff, put one in the pile, and no problems. I think it's a made up rule. Maybe I looked sketchy since I was only buying gift cards the first time.
I have occasionally been sent to purchase at customer service for gift card purchase over $100.

I have only used the Chase portal to book cars once or twice. Once was National where I have Emerald Executive (go straight to the car). When I arrived to pick up my car, I was told since I booked through a 3rd party, I needed to go to the counter.
Since chase started PYB, I book the car the way I want. For example, Budget on Costco with my Budget FB number. Then, I chose the equivalent charges to pay myself back that amount and consider it done. Still a 1.5 value. That way, I know I can go straight to my car and be covered by my CSR insurance.
