I was feeling left out only having one free night on my IHG and I still do. But I just checked dh account and he has 3. The dates on two of them make no sense at all. Too bad we have no way to use one before it expires in two weeks.
Just one for me. I used one in March 2020 or maybe I would have 2. DH has just one as well, his first. Both were extended, mine 5 months and DH 8 months. Weird dates.

DH applied for the CIP based on sole proprietorship rental biz. Instantly denied. One more reason we should probably go ahead and set up the LLC we've been meaning to do. He is at 3/24 with Chase SW plans next fall. He can add one more Chase personal before then, but I'd rather hold off for now.

Do Amex biz cards count towards the Chase 5/24? Anything else worth applying for now that will not impact future Chase applications? We prefer UR points, but are happy hoarding HHonors, IHG, TYP, MR, AA, or really anything interesting right now. I can't justify the 2.3% fee on tax payments with no MSR, but I hate paying cash!

Used my Dell credit (Platinum Biz) to buy a 43" Samsung tv for DS. Also had a 10% Amex offer. The tv at his dad's is old and slow and he's been wanting a new one. Now his birthday is taken care of and it cost me almost nothing:)
That's awesome!!

I let my dh have the credit. He was so excited! He bought a soundbar (thanks for the idea @SouthFayetteFan), a wireless mouse and a mircrophone. The last two items are things he needs for WFH since this appears to be lasting forever.

I think a month or so ago? Time passes so weirdly in a pandemic. I'll try Chase tomorrow and see if they'll cut me a break. Not too hopeful though.
Definitely blame it on the pandemic... you were worried about paying an annual fee, distracted on the call, your kids were noisy in the background, school at home, etc. You didn't realize you were canceling and losing your rewards, you could've product changed and wish they'd have offered that...all that good stuff!

Customer Service agents can potentially pull strings if they like you and think your worth helping. I also think you're setting your expectations realistically too - and that's good!

Is it ever better to close a card versus PC one? My CIP annual fee just hit and we really don’t use it enough to justify the fee, but the last time I tried to PC a card, I was asked a bunch of questions and then denied the request to PC it. I know closing one I don’t have to talk to anyone. How much does closing a card with a small CL hurt your credit limit?

If it's just recently you may be able to get them to reopen the card. Is it still showing on your online account? Closing Chase cards usually leaves the card showing, even with a credit from an annual fee, so take a look at it. It may even be possible to still transfer those points if it's been that recently since closing. But, you need to act now. Take a look and call.

Prior to closing you should be able to transfer most of the credit line to one of your other cards. And, pc'ing could depend on which card you asked to PC to.

This is when you hang up and call again. A lot of people don't want to call, I get that. But sometimes you get things done. I mean, think about it - you are calling a customer service rep that you don't know and will probably never speak to again. You should be able to have a simple and civil conversation with them, or with somebody if the first one doesn't work. Be kind and simply friendly and you will get results. The person you are speaking to gets up in the morning with many of the same issues you do.

No, AmEx Biz cards do not. Only personal cards since they are reported to your credit report.

Thank you! For me the not wanting to call has more to do with my current home/work situation than anything else. I have three pretty hyper triplet boys that are currently home doing virtual learning while I work from home. Most days I wonder if we’re all in the circus. I seldom have 5 minutes of quiet time to make the call. That said, your suggestion makes complete sense and, if it’s better to call, I will find a way.

I’ve read reports on reddit of people getting instant denial based on the rental business category....that could be the issue and not the SP. maybe try after 30 days with a different business category....I was approved last month with my eBay resale business as a SP.

Not sure what your CL is but to PC the CIP would need a CL of $5k or more.
Closing the CIP will not hurt your credit score at all since it’s a business card.

Closing the CIP will not impact your personal credit since it's a biz card. It can make sense to close a card instead of product changing if you're trying to reduce the overall amount of credit with a particular bank or if there's not a PC option that makes sense for your spending.

So another thread on the dis got me thinking.....

There are probably many of us on here (or lurking) that don't churn but do take advantage of CC's for the purpose of travel (or other perks). Maybe we can share our "non-churning strategy."

Here is mine:
DH and I have a total of 5 cards that we use. (We have a few others in the sock drawer.)
AMEX everyday - no AF - earn MRs - I use this card for groceries when there is not a better offer on another card and all small purchases to meet the 20 transactions bonus. It is my oldest card. I don't even think there was a SUB when I got it.
Discover IT - no AF - cash back - I use this card for the 5 rotating categories.
CSP - $95 AF (covered with Discover IT cashback) - this is my only AF card. I keep it to transfer to travel partners. I transfer all my other UR points from other cards to here each month. This was my first "travel" card.
CFU - no AF - This is the only card DH keeps in his wallet (more on that below). I use this whenever there is not a better bonus on one of the other cards.
CFF - no AF - I use this card for the bonus categories and the 5 rotating categories.

I value URs above MRs and cash back so tend to use the Chase cards before Amex. And I use Amex before DiscoverIT.

I put all organic spend on the cards. DH does not. He likes his debit card. It used to bother me, but I have come to terms with this and it is OK. He uses the CFU for online purchases and large (big ticket) items. I do use CC to pay any household bills that allow CCs.

We pay all cards off weekly. We never carry a balance or pay any fees or interest.

We exclusively use all points and cash back for travel related expenses and pay very little/nothing OOP when we travel (one-two vacations a year). I have also been able to fly my son to and from college and only pay the 5.60 fee.

We don't MS or churn. We are not looking to add any CCs anytime soon.

I am sure there are other non-churning strategies that work. This one works for us.

I just want to confirm that I can’t buy Wayfair gift cards at the grocery store if I’m working on my AMEX MSR. I’m almost positive this is true but want to check here in case you will tell me that this is something I can do.

YAY! I just saw I have 3 free nights now too. Honestly when I woke up this morning I had thought, I better book something as it seems IHG isn't extending. NOW, here's my question.....do you think we actually have all 3 nights? I've been trying to talk the BF into going somewhere. Could I sneak in something before 12/31 and still have the new extended night as well? I've been pushing him to do Vegas as the Palazzo points are low enough you can stay there, LOL. I wonder if I could get him to do it, LOL.
I'm wondering about using my two free nights locally, just for the indoor pool.... would my nephews be allowed to come and swim with me? or is that against the rules I wonder....

IF you PC to a no AF card, you'll need the 5k CL on the card to do so, I had to rearrange some credit from another card via phone last week to do it.
