I will chime in a bit on the DVC question. We bought BWV in 2002 at $65 a point, cash. For our 30th anniversary to Aulani that was cancelled, the room we booked was close to $700 a night, and I used just a little over one years worth of points. So it was around $1700 in maintenance fees for 9 nights in a room that was $700 a night. When we do BWV we can usually get buy with one year, so $1550 or so in maintenance fees for 8-9 nights in a $500plus per night room. Granted at the prices they charge now it would be a lot harder to justify, but we haven't regretted it for a second and I have no intention to ever sell it.

Here is a question for those of you that use a MasterCard to pay your cellphone bill in order to get the insurance:

I have my ATT bill set to autopay using my CFF MC. My BOA debit card has an ATT offer - $35 back when I spend $15 twice. If I make two $15 payments using my debit card and pay the rest of the bill with my CFF autopay, will the cell phone insurance still be valid for the coming month?
I have not seen any DP's either way, but in my mind it should not. The only requirement for the insurance is to pay the bill with the Mastercard. In my mind that means the whole bill, not just part of it. Is it worth possibly losing your insurance for a month for $5?

No. Definitely not, that is why I asked here before doing it. Thanks. I will leave it be.

Hey all....I got lucky like some of y'all and scored $1k in VGC at my Staples. They've been out for the last few promos. So now I'm $1300 away from my Hilton FNC. I could do that organically, but I do have the $5k spend to hit on the Marriott card now too. I told my BF he needs to be using my cards right now and paying me back. He closes on his house this month and just bought a new TV for the house. He's debating getting the LoveSac couch and that would be $8k!

DH has a Hilton FNC from a SUB on the Amex Hilton biz card. Soon I will have earned another FNC from spending >$15K. I have some really basic questions (possibly dumb?) on what it's worth and how to use it. When I called, the CS rep gave me the cert # for DH and the expiration date. He said it would work on any "standard night room." I asked him if it was restricted as to the value but he said no - any standard room. Is that right? (seems unlikely). He also said when booking a room online, I should type the cert # under promotion code. I forgot to ask him if I canceled the reservation, would I get my FNC back, lol. Does anyone have experience or knowledge about these type of FNC? Thanks!
Any room no matter the cost. I used mine at the Waldorf in Chicago. There are lists of the best places to use the FNC. When I called to book mine (I had to call like others said) the girl was SOOOOO excited to book the Waldorf for me. She's like you can't believe how many people waste this on a Hampton Inn, LOL. So dream big! And you can use 2 back to back. I had 2 FNC and booked 2 nights at the Waldorf.

Looking for a new iPad (just the 8th gen, not Air) and Walmart currently has it at $395 (list $429). I checked Target, Sam's, Costco, Best Buy, noe are cheaper. With 5% on Discover or CFF, it comes to $375. Anyone think I'll find a better deal if I wait until actual Black Friday??
Hip2Save has started their black friday spreadsheet. That's my go to! I keep their spreadsheet as an open tab all season, LOL.
And on another note, it's snowing here and Michigan lost to MSU, which SHOULDN'T have happened! So despite just getting back from the sun and beach last Saturday, when I woke up this morning I told my BF I'm gonna need a trip SOON! He's looking into buddy passes for my DD to use to fly to TX to visit her BFFs. He realized he's never activated that perk with Spirit, LOL. We have said we have no desires to get married again (he was with his ex for 7 years, got married and divorced in under 1 year). But I know the flying perks are better for spouse/family. I mean, we're not a year in yet, so I won't push the issue, LOL. But we have agreed getting married again only makes sense if there's some kind of "perk", like insurances, taxes, etc. I think flight perks might have to be added, LOL. Then again, I'm pretty serious about leaving teaching in 3 years (when I can retire) and becoming a flight attendant. Just need the airlines to rebound (but I heard Spirit might be hiring). I know FAs don't make crap, especially that first year....but I would have a nice pension (about 1/2 my salary). So it would be worth looking into. For the travel perks alone....unless, like I said, I was to marry a pilot, LOL.

When I filed my claim they just need proof of my bill and that I paid it with the card. I guess I did have to send the PDF of the statement. So it would see that you used part of another card. I wonder if you could "pay" ahead after your bill posts, so that it would show a credit instead on the statement if you needed to make a claim?

thanks. As @EACarlson said, not worth it fir $5. With my luck one of us will drop and crack a phone the month I may not have insurance. LOL.

Stacked a Randall's club card coupon with 3x on my CSR and a 10% off coupon with my free flu shot to save almost $40 off $200 in VGC's and a couple week's worth of groceries for the two of us. Then I'll erase the charge using PYB and put that cash from that "envelope" in our budget to catch up on IRA contributions for this year. I do love this hobby! I was trying to explain to DH why the math worked to do it this way and he said "I believe you, just stop...explaining it to me" :rotfl:

I'm also planning to apply for DH's CSP today before the elevated offer ends and also do the Chase checking/savings bonus. Wish me luck!

I tried to explain it to DH today too, he wasn’t very interested in my explanation.
And good luck! Are you going to go for the MDD?

Not that I'm aware of though I don't need to open it right away. I can wait the 4 weeks until Black Friday.
For some reason I think serial numbers are on receipts for Apple products but I may be remembering it incorrectly. Even AirPods from amazon had the serial number on my invoice.

Honestly if you aren’t going to open it i would just wait. Can’t imagine there won’t be A better deal.

I try to explain it to my teens and they are mostly mortified by the things I do to save money so they can have cars and go on nice vacations:)
