I was targeted for the Chase pay utilities/insurance/etc. offer to earn 1500 points. The weird thing is, the email said four payments, but when I activated the offer, it said only two payments. I’ll do four to be safe, but just something to be aware of. I’d hate for someone to lose out because they don’t do the required number of payments. (Although in my gut, I’m thinking it’s tthe activation Chase will go by, and therefore only two payments necessary for me.)

I really feel like I need to do some MS at Staples and OD. But then the lazy part of me kicks in, LOL. I have to take my son to get hockey skates tomorrow. So maybe I'll stop then. Of course he waited until they FINALLY have practice to let me know he outgrew his. So instead of practice we hit the store. He's 11, and the line he likes is $$$, yes, I know it only gets more $$$$ as he grows. He tried on the new skates in the line he has been skating in (He's a CCM Tacks skater, for the other hockey moms). $400, ugh! They've changed the design and he didn't like how they felt. So he asked if they had his old style still. Luckily another shop did. And since they are now, old, they went from $320, to $170! And the annual hockey sale is going on so they'll drop even more. I had them put his size on hold, and the next size up! I'm like let's just get him 2 pairs now for less than one, LOL. I mean we know he's not quitting anytime soon. So yay, bargain. Just wish I had a MSR to meet right now, LOL. I also have to drop money on my daughter's soccer uniforms, since she switched clubs. UGH.

Sorry, doesn't make much sense to me LOL. I don't believe the waiver has any effect on rate. I did have one file where the rate was lower with MI, but that was a really strange situation.

Now that I think about it his logic might be, that the appraisal is going to run me $500. So if I run w/ the $350k w/o it, I'm saving $500. The PMI I'll have to pay is for such a short time, it's worth not going through the hassles. Like I think it's less than $40/mo and I wouldn't be paying for too long. I'm hoping I would get higher than $350k, and avoid the PMI. But the exact same floor plan as me sold for $320k, and I do worry they might take that comp vs the $360+ comps that have happened as well. Because if I come in at $320k, I'll obviously be paying PMI a LOT longer.

I'm working on a refi myself. I got to keep the VA loan on the house w/ the divorce. But our agreement states I will refi out if he wants it. My ex doesn't want it right now, but he did say look into it with rates so low. My VA is 3.25%. I was just quoted 2.99% on a conventional! I'm clueless to all this, as he always handled it. But I guess it's time for another "big girl" life experience. The only thing that SUCKS is I'm right on the border of 80%. With VA there is no PMI. So I'm really hoping I appraise high enough to not have the PMI. My neighbor sold for $350k...a few houses down sold for $460k (which is INSANE). Others in my sub have sold for $360-365k. BUT the IDENTICAL floor plan to mine sold for $320k last month! I have NOOOO idea why it sold so low! I have a much better lot. So I'm HOPING I can appraise higher. I need $355k for no PMI!

And with that note, it's time to call the other companies that contacted me, LOL

Good luck with the refi. I had a similar situation after divorce where I refied to give the VA eligibility back. I did it about 3 years later and was able to get an appraisal at 20% plus and a lower payment overall on a conventional loan which was a great help. We had agreed on 10 years in our settlement agreement and I was determined to do it asap so as to not have to get it done last minute or at an inopportune time.

He mentioned a waiver but going at the $350k appraisal. He said I'm getting the lower rate (2.99% vs 3.125%) because it's $350k vs trying for the higher appraisal ($360k) w/ no PMI. Does that sound legit? This is all greek to me.

The main reason I'm refi is to give up the VA loan. I was able to assume it (as it can stay with the house). But in doing that my ex can't use his VA. So I'm doing this to give him back his VA loan. We get along, and he'd never be out to screw me. But he moved into a condo in the same neighborhood as me to keep our son in the same elementary school (he lives less than a mile from me). Now that he's in MS and our daughter in HS his area of houses has increased. He's said he might start looking at houses now. I would hate to sit on the VA and have him decide in 2 years he wants it and now I refi into 5% or something.

Smart lady.

I hate to suggest spending money in these times, but coffee is considered emergency provisions, right?? I just saw on slick deals that Macys has a sale on many Nespresso machines - 50% off!

I saw it was answered - yes, in the mail.

Lol....my machine arrived this afternoon and I'm hopped up on caffeine already.

But I'm going to check the Macy's website anyway....

I have a hard pull in May 2019 when I applied for a SW personal but forgot to unfreeze my credit. I didn't call recon because I was a newbie and didn't know that was a thing. Another pull in August 2019, but I honestly don't know why that's on there. A Cap One card approved in late September 2019, a CIP approved in January 2020. Then two hard pulls, one at the end of April 2020 and then early May 2020 for a Sapphire (didn't realize I couldn't with an ancient Sapphire) and CFU. Credit score is 810 on Experian's site.

I have an original Sapphire that's a 20 year old account with them. I didn't think about the ability to PC that. I did lower credit limits to no more than $10K on each of my cards and DH's cards. We're at less than half of household income.

So perhaps call Chase and see if they'll PC the old Sapphire to a CSR? I'd lose out on the SUB for 48 months, but that still could be worth it?

I'm not a Chase expert, but I heard you can't have 2 Sapphires at the same time. A good friend applied for a CSR and was denied because she was holding a very old, plain Sapphire card. They said she couldn't have both. She opted to keep the old one but I think she had options.

Good advice! Honestly, the Nespresso machines go on sale all the time, and it's usually a sale from Nespresso so the prices drop at all the stores at the same time. Don't pay full retail for a machine - we got 50% off ours and it went from being ridiculously expensive to being a justifiable luxury item. :)

Checked Macy's. I bought mine on Costco.com. Eventually I figured out my machine is Delonghi. I'd definitely prefer a Breville, which are available on the Macy's site at a cheaper price than I paid for the Delonghi package. But only cheaper by a few dollars.

The one I purchased had no reviews on Costco.com.

Now I'm seeing terrible reviews on the Nespresso website. My machine - Vertuo Next -appears to be their latest issue, although I'm not certain.

In any case it came with a frother, and the 12 assorted capsules, plus 5 sleeves or 50 additional capsules. Those 50 capsules, the Costco price and guarantee make it a decent buy IF it continues to work properly. Too early to know yet as it's only done 2 drinks, lol. I'll drink pretty much any variety of coffee so not worried about not liking any of the capsules. I'll ship it back if it fails and get another.

Right at the moment I'm happy! Well caffeinated and will have a decent cup in the morning, hopefully.

Now everyone has me looking at the Nespresso machines...I have a Keurig that probably 5 years old...but the rave reviews of the Nespresso has me looking..lots of options ...which machine does everyone have

If it makes you feel any better on the bad reviews, I have a breville one and the reviews were also really bad. Review after review talked about it leaking and the temperature was not hot enough. I have had zero issues with it, and have been super happy. I think some of the bad reviews on the machines are more attributable to the user rather than the machines.

From what I can see the 'full' price at Macy's is also more than the regular price at Nespresso. (I didn't check every machine.) Both friend and daughter got black friday or some kind of reduced price.

The one I bought at Costco for $159.00 is 209.00 on Nespresso, and listed for $136.99 (sale price at half off $274) at Macy's. For the extra $23 I got 50 capsules.

So, Costco wins for the moment, but if it breaks and I decide to go to an older model, available cheaper from Macy's, we know Costco will take it back.

Anyway, too much detail for me! I just want to get to tomorrow morning so I can have more coffee!!!! I'll be awake all night if I try another right now!

Yes, I agree! A lot of the bad reviews were on not connecting and the APP. I haven't even bothered with that yet. I've actually had a Delonghi expresso maker and my daughter has it now and it still works fine. But it doesn't use capsules or pods. I think my 'breville' fixation comes from daughter and friend having the brevilles.

Plus if that was thrown in for the same price as the machine on sale somewhere else, you got a steal!

Costco. I figure if it breaks and they send me another, I'll be on high street.

I better qualify that in all my years of membership - 12 or 14, I've probably only returned 2 or 3 items.

I tried magazines months ago and that didn’t work. I didn’t call for both accounts today because of rage, only the higher count one. But the emails I got from points was identical for both so I’m not overly optimistic.

I know this matters to nobody but me. But I checked. P1 is at 2 CitiBiz, P2 is at 3. I tried to donate miles from both of our accounts today and it started, will be interested to see if it goes through. I'm just annoyed - we won't be traveling anytime soon, these stupid miles..... If they closed my Points account because I looked suspicious as hell, I get it. My first activity is trying to cash out 100% of my points? Suspicious, I agree. But now what! Security has my case but has to contact me and I can't expedite at all?

I feel for you. Hopefully this will all sort out in your favor.

Super frustrating for you right now to have it in limbo.

And my but - even when just doing a little on this credit card game we are almost always running a risk of being highlighted for gaming the system. Some get in and get out.

And, on another note, anyone seen or heard XXXXXXx lately? Wasn't he the subject of one of these similar actions? Has he bounced back or retired?

We had done a refi a year before our divorce and took EVERYTHING out. So I'm happy 4 years later I'm almost sitting at 20%! Thank you real estate market, LOL. There's not a set time in our document, just that I had to refi if he wanted it. I was in no hurry since I never thought I'd get below 3.25%. He's sooooo out of the loop, his mortgage is 4.5%. I'm like ummmmm, you might want to refi. And he was the one who did all our finances. Might be why I got $8k in debt in the divorce, LOL.

New Amex CC Offer:
Well - not sure how exciting this one is, but it's a new offer so I'll share!

Limited Time Offer - Earn $100 Back after you spend $1,000 in purchases within the first 6 months. Plus, earn 20% back on purchases at Amazon.com made with the Blue Cash Everyday® Card in the first 6 months, up to $200 back. Apply by 10/07/2020.

This is available via support link. It is possible that if you open the support link in "incognito mode" you might get a $150 back / $1k MSR offer. I believe everybody's support links will automatically update to this offer.

In theory, if you spent all $1k at Amazon you'd probably earn @ least $310 back (31% off) // $10 base cashback + $100 SUB + $200 in 20% back. (Or maybe $360 if you can get the incognito offer)

This is a decent card for Amex because it can have a reasonable recurring spend purpose with 3% back at Grocery Stores and 2% back at gas stations which might keep the evil "pop-up message" away.

As always, if you're looking to apply, consider DISchurners (and if you have links on DISchurners please update them to reflect this).

EDIT: this link points to the old Amex thread, since I just refreshed them today.

7/9/2020 - DISchurners Announcement #1 - Chase, Amex & Misc Support Link THREAD REFRESH

It's time for everybody's favorite event...the semi-annual refresh of the SUPPORT Link Threads.

As a reminder - ANYBODY is welcome to share their support links in these threads. The instructions are at the top of each one.

For those that have previously posted, the easiest way to move them over is:
1) Go to your OLD comment in the OLD thread (you'll see the old threads listed near the bottom of the DISchurners feed)
2) Click EDIT
3) COPY the entire comment text in the edit box
4) PASTE the comment text as a NEW comment in the NEW thread (you'll find the new threads near the top of the feed)
5) CHECK all links to make sure they are active and working and make sure that your description of the offer matches the actual offer!
You do NOT need to delete your old comment when done, you can just leave it in that thread.

This process will help you not have to re-do all your formatting.
Side Note: It is best to access DISchurners in old reddit. (https://old.reddit.com/r/DISchurners/)

Side Note 2: I would also advise that you check to make sure that all of your links are accurate and working!!

I will post reminders for this over the next week or so and will then remove the old threads with only the new threads remaining.

One more general reminder, reddit flags many support links as spam. I then go in and manually approve them. I will keep an eye on that as we conduct the refresh and approve them all as quickly as possible! :D

I will be putting out a few announcements this evening as I work through a thread refresh. A reddit thread locks after 6 months and if we want to continue the discussion, a new one is created. To draw attention to some of the various topics we have available on DISchurners, I will do these as a series of announcements tonight.
If you'd like to join DISchurners, simply send me a PM here on the DISboards and we'll get you all setup!

7/9/2020 - DISchurners Announcement #2 - News & Discussion THREAD REFRESH

Per the NEW THREAD:
Please use this thread to track Newsworthy Topics discussed in our DISboards thread

"Newsworthy Topics" would include things such as:
  • A new credit card offer release
  • A major churning related news story (such as a program change, devaluation, etc.)
  • A change in redemption options (i.e. a new way to redeem URs, MRs, etc.)
  • Anything else deemed newsworthy by our group (perhaps even major news from one of our regulars)
ANYBODY can post here, but try to follow somewhat of a consistent format as follows:
  • Create a new top level comment for each "newsworthy topic"
  • Start with a date
  • BOLD a short headline by using "**" before and after that sentence.
  • Include a link back to a pertinent (preferably the first) comment on the DISboards on the topic
  • Try to credit whomever shared this piece of information (if you weren't the first to report it)
If something has already been added, feel free to add any discussion as a response to that comment

In general, I would keep all questions and comments on the DISboards thread, this place doesn't have enough activity to support that, it's just a great place to check in on every once in awhile!
If you see something posted during the day that you think belongs on the news thread, feel free to reply to that comment and "tag" me on the DISboards and just say @SouthFayetteFan - News thread. We've done a poor job of updating this recently, and maybe that's because there just hasn't been a lot of good news or positive churning energy. But maybe we can get back to doing a better job on it - and anybody can help!!
