My WDW refunds are rolling in!!! About $160 back to my JetBlue card which dropped me below that MSR from months ago so I just threw that same amount on my cable bill. It looks like I will have about $2,000 - $2,500 between Citi and Chase when it is all said and done. I think I will request checks to get my negative balance back 😞

Not cc related, but it seems like it’s ok for us to post this kind of stuff during these extraordinary days.

NYC mayor will make a decision within 48 hours regarding putting the city in lockdown, akin to San Francisco. I have a gut feeling this is going to happen, and that my state, which made an agreement just the other day with NY and NJ about gyms, theaters, and restaurants, will shortly follow suit. I’ve been staying in anyhow, with the exception of going to the track to walk everyday ( and the track is pretty much empty), but this will be difficult. Necessary, perhaps, but still difficult.
I'm in CT as well. We are prepared and resigned to "shelter in place" with the kids out of school through the summer. If you read between the lines of what has been publicly announced, that's the way it seems to be going. I just hope Amazon and Target can safely maintain delivery service!

We are evaluating the food we have stocked and filling in some gaps (I bought some baking supplies at Target online, DH ordered his favorite coffee and nuts). Apparently we stockpiled a lot of kid food (pasta, sauce, meatballs, nuggets, snacks) and not necessarily stuff for us! He is going to go out tomorrow to try to get more perishables as we have been eating what we have.

My friend and I decided to reschedule our Aug 2020 AK cruise to 2021. She is a primary care physician and very worried (I didn't remind her that ~3-4 weeks ago she said it was silly to worry!). She said this is the calm before the storm for her.

I am glad we cancelled Disney before they announced their closure - I think they were more flexible moving the Cirque tickets and refunding the points (switched Oct trip to 2019 banked points so the 2020 points are still available) than they have been today.

My dad had bought is Cirque tockes for a traveling show coming to CT this summer and they cancelled that today.

Somebody may have said this already. You can't bank the borrowed points. Banking and borrowing are final transactions. It won't matter when you cancel them. This is one area where DVC usually does not make exceptions. Sometimes they adjust banking deadlines for new members and I've seen them relax the 'holding' point rules before, but I've never heard of banking or borrowing being reversed.

Now someone will probably come along and disagree and say it's been done. Just not in my experience.

I know this is really difficult considering you are a newer member. The reality is DVC has never dealt with anything as grave or consequential as this in their history. They have a responsibility to all members to try to keep things on track, so they will do their best to help but there will already be a surplus of 'regular' points that will be banked into the next use year due to this catastrophe. That means that going forward, there will be more points then rooms available, especially in the studio category. And, for the time being, people will not be borrowing in to even up the numbers creating another issue. They also have the ability to suspend the banking and borrowing function and not allow you to use extra banked or borrowed points.

All that said, what they actually do for you is yet to be seen.
I totally get all of what you said and I understand that once borrowed, the points cannot be banked. It's just hard to figure out how they will handle this type of situation. Clearly this is completely unprecedented. If they open up in a reasonable amount of time for people to get down there and use their points, I'll do everything in my power to take a trip down but life just isn't typically that last minute flexible around here. And would dvc even have that last min availability...? I guess I could always look at renting my points but that just makes me sad to even think about.

I'm a bit envious of all of you getting all these projects and things done at home! I don't have any more (or less) time than I did a week ago!

Also, I seriously lack motivation but that's beside the point!
I have far less free time (which is why I haven; been on here in almost a week). Juggling the kids and work all day, and then in the evening making up work I didn;t do during the day and planning "home school" activities to keep the kids busy the next day (the structure is REALLY good for them). Plus we are home all day, so the house is getting messier and we won;t have our cleaning person (I am paying her, but don;t want the exposure).

I really envy the people who are home FT and can do all kinds of fun projects with the kids and clean out their closets! I could use some of that! (But also aware I am lucky o sill be employed - that may not be the case next quarter).

I agree 100%

When I got in tonight they've implemented a policy that no one other than dispatchers is allowed in dispatch (unless of course there's an emergency up here), which is a good move. No point having us all exposed to whatever patrol is being exposed to "on the outside" I suppose.

We have to ask our callers, when practicable and requiring in-person contact, whether they're experiencing certain symptoms

And if one of our employees calls out I have to ask them about that symptom also since our municipality wants to track expenses related to this thing.

On the plus side, I have a pickup order at Target for Coke Zero and Pop Tarts for tomorrow!

People are crazy. And kind of stupid. Like all the people crowded in Magic Kingdom Sunday night for the fireworks. If one person there had it, now they all do.
My dd and all her friends were there Sunday night. She doesn't get it. None of the kids this age seem to. My dd17 is doing remote high school and college and all activities are cancelled. Her phone is blowing up constantly with kids wanting to hang out, go to the park, go wherever they still can, etc. It's driving me nuts how they just seem so oblivious. When I try to explain what the effort is here and how we are all playing a part in preventing the spread and that the sooner we get control of this, the sooner we can get back to normal life, she looks at me like

I remembered @gottalovepluto 's post while buying a scone at Signe's Bakery today. I paid with a five that has been in my purse for months. It was 3.54. She started to hand me back my change and I nodded at the tip jar. She was wearing gloves as she bagged my scone, and the same gloves as she took my money. Who knows where that change came from?

Later I ate the scone and gave it no thought.

I lay around thinking too often when I should be sleeping. Last night I took my mind through all the times I could have infected myself as I went through the day. Yes, I was using the Purell, but that doesn't mean I did all the right things. By the time I get home, I'll be ready for seclusion. My mind is dwelling on what I may be touching, even when shopping, who may have picked up this jar of spaghetti sauce and put it back down. The opportunities are endless.
This right here is one of my biggest peeves. I've seen that kind of action at various eateries, I'm pretty sure they're clueless and think nothing of it. But I want to call them out and publicly shame them, I know that's bad of me. I can only hope that people get used to practicing better hygiene overall because of this current situation.

I've given thought to wiping down everything I buy from the store before putting it away but honestly I'm too lazy to do it.

I watched Contagion tonight. I suggest people who have anxieties DON'T watch it. I've seen it before but only remembered little bits of it. I have a copy of The Stand sitting out too that I was thinking of reading again. I'm a glutton for punishment I guess. lol

My county has tested 8 people...8!!!
My angry emoji was for the utter failure that testing has been in the US. It defies any logic. I've read excuse after excuse, but really there is no excuse for that. Some heads better roll for that.

I’m part of a group on Facebook that’s for my county and people are getting extremely upset. They’re calling county officials I guess. I won’t be doing that but I hope they take the hint that people are serious about testing.

3pm on the dot and groups of kids were roaming the streets, walking to the park, riding bikes, etc. I have been a hermit watching from my window in disgust.

I don't have any either, because they aren't something I eat, but you make a really good point there. Perhaps that should have been on my grocery list. 🤔
We don't eat them either but there is value in stocking up on things that have an incredibly long shelf-life. Maybe I will buy some too.

This will be like when I introduced my boy's to McD's a couple of years ago :rotfl2: They were 9 and 7, iirc, and had never had McD's. I took them in and got them Happy Meals. Their faces lit up and they were so excited about getting a toy and then they really got excited about the box it came in and that they got to KEEP THE BOX!! The reactions of the people around us watching them was priceless!
