I have 3 Chase cards with about $80k limits. One card carries $30k in limits, does nothing for me, but has no fee so I keep it open. I suppose I should close it to make it easier to open new Chase cards going forward? Also, another Chase card (the CF) has $35k limits, which is much more than it needs. Can I, and should I, ask to have it lowered?
PS: I have more than enough limits on all my cards that my usual monthly spend is between 2% and 4% of limits so there are no worries about upsetting my balances to limits ratio.
I would definitely reduce those credit limits if you don’t need them...For example I have reduced my CSR to $10k, CF to $5k...SW and Disney to $1
You can ask Chase to lower either by secure messaging them or calling

Yes, do them at the same time or close to the same time. PlanePrincess and I both applied for the Aspire on the same day. I think the IHG we are a month apart and even that has had its challenges. When we are able to go for the Hyatt card we will be applying the same day.
is there good value in both getting the Hyatt cc?

Dh got one this year for $200. I haven’t gotten any of mine yet. Idk how long to wait. I haven’t gotten any from Amex either
Didn't DH get another one, though? Were both of them together more than $600?

The 1099MISC is for how much income Chase paid an individual, kinda regardless for where it came from. So once you cross that threshold, all of whatever they think is income is reported. If it came from different sides of the business it's possible to get multiple forms to make up the whole amount. Or I might have read getting separate forms for EIN vs SSN businesses, or something like that. But the threshold is not so much about how much is on an individual form, but how much was paid to an individual SSN.

Not saying they couldn't choose to send it for less but anyone who received only one for less is more an anomaly and most likely is missing mail. In the FAQs sent with the form they mention creating the 1099s for individual who they paid at least $600
and it is aggregated across all accounts or loans. However you may receive a form for amounts under $600 based on each account or loan (which should equal $600 or more when tallied together).

My Chase referrals totaled $600 across a few different cards which got me the 1099, while P2 had a single referral.
Are you saying that probably means she won't get the 1099?
Thanks

Does anyone know if there is a support link for the IHG 140K offer?

Just found this in my quoted messages and can't remember if you got a reply, but I don't believe so. As far as I can tell you can't generate a new support link for any of the IHG cards and the old links are still the 80k/2k.

As an aside, I see you can RAF for bank accounts now. Anyone know what the offer is for the friend? I have a biz account and it didn't work to generate a link to see what it is. Might just be for personal accounts.

The majority of my credit card thoughts this weekend revolved around whether or not I should app DH for the Aspire. Pros/Cons, is it a good move at this point, etc etc. I’m an “overthinker.” This morning I sit down to finally pull the trigger on his app, and AMEX gives me a message that I am “not eligible to access this referral offer at this time” AH C’MON MAN! I was ready and determined, and then I can’t even follow through. Maybe it’s a sign. Just kidding. I’ll try again later. Just needed to share 😉

ETA: I should clarify I was trying to refer him from my Platinum card and the referral link isn’t available this morning.

I believe so. Whether or not you decide to report the income yourself is another discussion, but I don't believe Chase would be reporting it to the IRS based on the FAQ (and if they do/did they have to send you the 1099MISC copy b as record of it).

The recommended pacing between Chase cards is 2-3 months so if you don’t need the CP soon I would wait to apply.
Also check the credit limits on your Chase cards and reduce if close to 50% of household income or around $70k....

So:
2 personal cards, CL totals $37k (I always just say $100k household....its lower than it is though I just figured that was "enough")
5 Biz cards, CL totals $42k (business income about $30k THIS year as its growing)

Do I add these together? Would lowering a personal card affect the business cards? I shouldn't cancel any business cards though right?

yes you would add the Chase business and personal credit limits together so $79k.... over 50% of your reported household income

definitely lower CLs across business and personal so you have more than enough room for the min $5k needed for an approval on the SW card

I've had lots of issues with referrals between my husband and I for AMEX. I used a friend's referral link and it went right through. I tried for several months and finally gave up.

UPDATE! I was able to pull up my support link (sorry I used the “R” word earlier 😂) from my browser history. His app went through! YAY! DH is the proud owner of an Aspire card. Hopefully we can both stay out of Hilton pop up jail. I also hope my support tracks since the link was pulled from browser history. We’ll see!

And that can be done using secure messaging using the Chase app, correct? Do I just say, "hi, i'd like to lower my CSR limit to $5k?" Kinda shocked I haven't had to do this yet considering how many cards we have lol....

Dh and I are going to apply for the Aspire at the same time, probably in the fall but definitely after September. I think I'll apply for the Hyatt the same time of year he did so that our free night dates will be approximately at the same time.

Don’t forget to factor in that it will take 8-12 weeks for your FN certs to show up after the MSR and each anniversary year. If your timing is based on when you need the certs plan a couple of months before you need them.

is there good value in both getting the Hyatt cc?

I always find a good value in both of us getting most cards at least for the sign up bonus. When it comes to hotel cards I value keeping both cards indefinitely. I don’t like paying for hotels and rarely will if I can avoid it. I also never stay anywhere for just one night. So if we each have the card we each get one cat 1-4 Hyatt night per year which equals a weekend getaway.

Next month we are going back to the Willard in DC for the weekend. Our out of pocket costs is only our $49 annual fee each on the card. The room is $280 per night. Granted that is the unrestricted FN cert. We will still keep the card. I can easily stay at an IHG property near WDW moving forward. I will definitely get more value than $49 per night. We’ve had weekends in New York City at hotels that were over $400 per night using our FN certs that cost us $95 each per year.

We have never received a hotel stay value that was less than our AFs on a given card. Part of our vacation budget consists of the AF on our hotel cards that offer either a FN, anniversary points or resort credit.

if a person doesn’t mind split stays they can get a pretty good value for their hotel cards at WDW if both they and their P2 have the same card on their own account. Let’s look at this scenario:

IHG x 2 = $178
Hyatt x 2 = $190
BonBlah X 2 = $190

That is $558 oop for 6 nights at WDW good neighbor hotels I would say that’s a darn good value for a family. Most are figuring a lot more on their budget for accommodations.
