I’m trying to locate an official document that restricts travel into the Schengen area from outside countries. This should enable me to get a full refund on my Paris Airbnb that’s scheduled for early June. I read in a news report that unnecessary travel will be restricted at least through June 15, but I can’t find an official source on this. Not sure if anyone here is familiar with this sort of thing, but thought I’d ask just in case.

Take a look at this. https://www.france24.com/en/2020050...are-travellers-from-schengen-area-and-britain. It's not official but it's a start.

The travel restrictions that the US State Department is listing is an advisory, and Airbnb says advisories won’t count as an extenuating circumstance. What I need is a document from France or the Schengen area saying that travelers are not permitted to enter the country unless it’s necessary business. That’s how I was able to get a refund for my London Airbnb. It was an official UK document that I screenshot and sent in with my refund request. I believe that one was a stay at home order, so the same would work for Paris/France, but I believe they are starting to loosen those restrictions now, so I think my best bet would be for the travel ban document.
I can’t believe you even have to go to those extremes to cancel. I’ve only partially listened to the troubles people are having with Airbnb, but it’s ridiculous to me that they won’t just cancel your reservation. I mean look around, it’s not like people are just “flaking” out on reservations, we’re kind of having a situation here! I don’t think I’ll be booking with Airbnb moving forward. Sorry you’re going through this.

Just wanted to say how nice it is to read about someone making travel plans rather than canceling them. :thumbsup2

For my part, have booked some flights to Puerto Rico for mid July - I am fully prepared to cancel depending on the prevailing advice and the familys comfort level with the trip - but man, I NEED some travel plans to look forward to.
We still have our Utah trip scheduled for the end of June - as of now I don't plan to cancel.

I called Universal Orlando and booked our Thanksgiving trip. I booked Royal Pacific for 3 nights, but once we get closer to travel date I'll probably change it to 2 night. We only plan on 3 park days so we only need 2 nights to get 3 days of express pass.

Has anyone called the chase cruise line to book UO hotel using a discount rate?
I am sure what type of discount rate you are referring to. But if you mean AP, nope it doesn’t work. IIf only it worked.

I'm looking at military discount - I booked 3 night at RPR for $1,013 over Thanksgiving weekend. It pains me to pay cash for a hotel room, but i'll just use URs to erase the charges.

If I apply for the CSP can I later upgrade my CF to the CSR? Or will the one sapphire rule keep me from upgrading?

I hear ya. We had planned to go to USO this weekend to use the annual pass that we upgraded from Chase tickets. Not sure we will get to use it as a family before it expires.

I’m pretty sure you couldn’t upgrade to a CSR while holding a CSP....
If you are going to be booking a lot of travel through the Chase travel portal, it may be better to apply for the CSR even though the bonus is 10k URs less

No, Chase will not be able to book that rate. But if it is cheaper than the UR rate on the portal, you could always cash out URs for a “free” room.

You can PC to a csr while holding a csp, I did it back in the fall. PCd my cfu to csr in oct and then my csp to cf in march. The csp had started as a csr. My spreadsheet with these paths is a bit nuts.

Thanks! I’ll have a look at that.

Thanks for the commiseration. I’m definitely thinking twice about using Airbnb again. They’ve been difficult to say the least. I try to keep up with the latest on the Airbnb Reddit. A lot of people are just going for a credit, which I could do too, but I think there would be an expiration on it and I just don’t know when we’d be able to use it. I did pay a deposit using a gift card so I still have $250 back on that now (from the London reservation). Fortunately, I did find an Airbnb I really like in Nashville right across the street from my son’s college, so if nothing else I can use it there. If it’s possible to get a real refund though, that would definitely be my preference.

Anyone had any luck having 5x points on chase cards with grocery delivery services? Which ones? Sad to see Instacart post as 1x.
I got 5x points on my CSR with grocery delivery through Peapod. Don’t know if they are in your area, but I actually prefer them to Instacart as they don’t mark up and, at least with stop & shop you get the sales and stop & shop card deals. I think you may even get fuel points because you can link your stop & shop card.

We just booked a place in Puerto Rico for the week between Christmas and New Years. We've never been.

We love Airbnb, this is the first time we've needed to cancel. I'm lucky that our July booking on the Amalfi Coast was a refundable listing. I also chose a refundable listing when I booked a place for Puerto Rico. At this point, I think I'll be sticking with refundable options until things are more stable.

I'm still not sure what will happen with our flights to Italy. Iberia is currently only offering vouchers for flights through June 30 and we were scheduled to travel July 3rd. I know we aren't going. I am just waiting to see if we can get money back or vouchers. 3 of the tickets were booked on UR points, I feel like that is going to make things more challenging.

I never did this since I knew my trip would be canceled well beforehand. I have everything pretty much canceled already, just this one Airbnb left, and they require screenshots of an official document to get your money back. Would the STEP program send me info that isn’t already available online?

Not sure to be honest. But it doesn't hurt to enroll. I would think that the information should be available on the site though

Today's Daily Discussion Thread on r/churning currently has 5 top level comments. 2 of them were deleted... 1 is the CIU support thread (which has been downvoted substantially... 1 is a weeks old DP... BUT there is one Gem in there:

Regarding Chase 5x for groceries during May and June:
Walmart was reportedly now included as grocery with the announcement for CSR and CSP. (I still haven't gotten the email).
Walmart did count on transactions on CSR that just posted. (Walmart Supercenter)
Walmart did NOT track 5x on transactions posted yesterday on CF (at the same supercenter). So this appears to be a temporary change to category for Walmart just for CSR/CSP (and I suppose the co-branded cards mentioned as well).
Edit: clarify walmart supercenter

This is great! Thank you.

I wanted to update with something more positive. I made good headway at work, billed plenty of hours, had tacos and am drinking a beer while shopping for new light fixtures for the bathrooms and am feeling much better! Unfortunately no extra offers on any cards for home improvement stores but I will keep looking. I do appreciate all the sad faces as they made me feel better. Not everyone "gets" why I was so bummed about missing out on a third Universal trip in a year - after all, I was just there - but I feel like this crowd understands! :D

...If you openly suggest abusing the PPP program on r/churning, I will come for you, I will find you and I will...set the record straight!

My particular set of skills just came out...

I'm confused. Is this for real? People are losing their businesses and life savings; laying off employees; and generally getting screwed by the shutdown and some buttwipe wants to game the system at their expence?

I don't know where to find the rules for France, but I would definitely look for that and not for a blanket Schengen document because each of the member countries seems to be making their own entry/exit rules right now. I know DD can get into Norway because she has a residence permit but they are closed to anyone other than citizens/residents right now. I would suspect France would be the same. I hope you can find something. DD knows people still across the pond who are having a difficult time getting to the US from Europe, and I have friends who just managed to do so but it was pretty complicated.
