That Plat offer is looking so good, but DH and I applied for the CIU ($3k MSR) yesterday. Plus I’m still working on my Bonvoy Biz MSR. Those 3 MSRs shouldn’t be a problem, as long as we are able to take our Thanksgiving and Christmas trips. But our spending significantly drops after Christmas.

Of course, I could get the dreaded pop-up and not even have to worry about the additional $5k MSR. And we could both be denied for the CIUs.

SW change window for late Jan flights has already passed, correct? Why do they wait until after it closes to change flights with no notice at all? Now I have to contact them to get a better flight and I won't be able to edit it any after that. I went from the first flight out to almost the last eliminating any possibility of visiting a park that day.

Leaning toward canceling the trip so not sure if it's worth it. That decision will be made in December though.

If they changed your flight the window is probably open...have you tried to make a change online ?

We’ve got an ancient no-AF Capital One card that we’ve had for almost 20 years. It was our primary card and got tons of use until y’all introduced me to the wonders of Chase and URs. Since then, it’s literally sat in a drawer gathering dust. I don’t want to cancel it because I know the age of that account helps our credit rating. Lately, though, I’ve been wondering if I need to dust it off and make a few transactions a month with it, just so Capital One doesn’t close the account for inactivity? Is that a legit worry? I was thinking I’d maybe make it the payment card for Netflix or something, so it’ll have a small charge every month, and I won’t have to remember to use it. Would that be enough? WWYD?

Hi! I got approved for a Sapphire Preferred this weekend with the bonus points. It's my first real point card. We mainly use our Kroger card and Amazon card, which gets us points to shop at those vendors. I've never really understood the greater point system and we haven't had the ability to travel much (any airfare points I get always expire) so I've never really paid attention before. I've also always been taught to never get a card with an annual fee. I've been following the Disney giftcard thread, and finding that there are a lot of point offers or specific credit cards used to get the gift cards, so when I saw the sign up bonus I applied for the SP. So, basically reading this (both) thread is like gibberish for me and I probably have some very basic stupid questions.... First being, do the points expire?

Same here! Before I got into churning, I thought 1.5% back was SO great! 😆 It's good practice to put a charge on once a year, or every 6 months to be even safer. If you just want to set it and forget it, an automatic monthly charge is great too.

BTW, Capital One is one of those banks that forgives small statement balances ($1). 😉

Ebates is acting odd. My big fat check is supposed to be $31.87. First I got an email saying my check for $14.87 was sent. Then I got another one saying my check for $157.13 was sent.

I got a weird email too. The amount is from my February 2020 big fat check.

I had something similar, although not as favorable. My balance is $242.31 (and I know they never pay out the full amount, since they are waiting in case of returns or whatnot), and I got an email saying I’d get a check for $80 and then an email saying $83.96. I’m kind of hoping I’m getting both and that they aren’t holding back THAT much of my check!!

As long as you have a UR earning card the points won't expire.

After you have had the card 1 year, you can downgrade to a no fee UR card. That will keep your points. Or you can transfer the points to any other UR card you or anyone in your household has. Or you can choose to cash them out with Pay Yourself Back for restaurants/grocery/home improvement at 1.25 cents per point (through end of April unless they extend it again).

My card gets 1 transaction per year (yearly auto-subscription to a magazine) and Capital One has kept it open. That's the only charge on it for years now.
