I love credit cards so much! v2.0 (see first page for add'l details)

I am trying to slow my Chase roll and got the popup with Amex (after only 1 stinking card) so I thought I would try for something else. I applied for the Capitol One venture last week and got we are reviewing your application every time I called. So today I get a letter about verification of MY income. Has anyone had this before? I put unemployed and total household income, same as I do on all of my Chase apps as a SAHM. It is saying I can submit pay stubs, letter of employment, divorce decree, Tax return (though it says Joint tax return will be insufficient if it doesn't show personal income), or bank statements. Do you think just doing bank statements will count? It definitely won't show the income I put down because we split his direct deposits into 3 different accounts. Anyone else a SAHParent and have experience with Capitol One?

Got instant approval for DH for Gold card! Woohoo! I've been debating back and forth on AMEX cards but decided to still go for a Gold even with the increased MR card, as I can see it being a more long term earner and between the annoying dining credit and airline fee credit I will be more willing to keep it a second year perhaps to help keep amex happy.

But shoot as I type this I realized I need to use my dining credit for Dec!!!! Basically all that works for us is Grubhub because we either don't have the other options or they are not convenient. This plays a lot into why I've been into Cheesecake Factory maybe twice in my life - they've never been convenient! Also... much as I love desserts... not a cheesecake fan :duck:
Oh, I don’t like cheesecake either but there are plenty of non-CC options. Congrats!

Has anyone happened to choose Frontier for their AMEX airline credit? It seems unlikely but...

I would think that bag fees and seat selections would count... we might actually be able to use those. I mean, if I still get a Plat so we each have a Plat and a Gold, I'm not going to pick $600 in Frontier credit lol, but I could see some of it going for Frontier...
Amex Plat customers PLUS Frontier...seems like an oxymoron 🤣

Haven't had a chance to post this until now. I applied for my first Amex Biz Plat last week and was approved a few hours after applying. Always hard to stomach the AF but the MRs should be worth it and I had saved up enough from bank bonuses to cover. Now I'm looking at a large MSR in 3 months so I'm thinking some grocery store visits for GCs will be in my future. I also added DH as an AU (free green card for him) so he can help with the spend. I'll be paying our $2K property tax bill via Plastiq which will help.

I'm debating getting P2 a CIP. He's eligible for another Chase card (I like to spread out any chase apps by 90-95 days) as of around 12/10. I'm just a bit nervous to add $5K of additional spend. The good news is CIP can be used at office supplies which opens up a good amount of low or no fee VGC and MCGC options. And I could open a Great Southern account for him and knock out MSR that way. Has anyone put the full $5K on a chase card for Great Southern, any issues? Decisions, decisions.

For those of you who have gotten a pop-up but then later were able to escape it and carry on... how long did you wait between attempts? (I know there are no hard and fast rules... merely trying to get a feel for what others have done). I know each attempt is tracked (at least, I THINK I know that each attempt is tracked), so I don't want to seem too desperate, but I also don't want to wait any longer than necessary. Just looking for some others' experiences.
DH got the pop up for the no fee Aspire when that was out. I immediately tried for the BBP and he was instantly approved. I'd even started MSing his Hilton at that time so his current balance was $6k, but the statement hadn't posted yet. So approved for BBP on 11/4 and he was also instantly approved for the Green Biz on 12/20. My plan for the new year is to MS for the free night to keep my spend up and hopefully stay in their good graces.

Off topic (not credit card and not even Disney 😳). We're headed to Orlando after New Years for 4 nights to meet up with SIL and her family and friends of ours. We're staying at Hyatt Grand Cypress (on points so maybe that keeps it on topic a bit more) and doing one night at Universal Portofino to take advantage of express pass for our 2 park days.

We'll be in the parks Jan 3 and 4 and they are going to be nuts. Any tips or advice on how to manage the crowds and navigate and make best use of express pass? I've only done Universal twice and this is our first time with express pass. I love that I don't have to pre book things but I also feel like I'm going in blind.

We'll be with kids ranging from 8-14. They like thrill rides. We'll try to get to park pre opening on the 4th to get in line for Hagrid's Motorbike (since we can walk over from hotel that day). Any other ride tips or must do items?

For food, there will be 12 of us, any tips for eating dinner together?
We are also staying at Grand Cypress. We are looking forward to trying out some of the on-site activities. DS is particularly looking forward to trying out the driving range. For my mom’s Christmas present I booked her two nights there also. I figured she might like a break from my sister’s in St. Pete.

WooHoo! I just booked our last night's stay in Dublin for next September at the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel. The room is $285 for one night but I used 70,000 of my Radisson Blu points. Have I mention how much I love that sock drawer card :tilt:

For those that fly Frontier, DH got an email that they are giving a $50 voucher for those that join the Discount Den program before 12/30. The voucher can be used towards a flight cost and it says the flight "must be booked on January 2, 2020 through March 31, 2020" I'm not totally sure if that really means booked by like it sounds, or flown by... but DD is $59.99 so it could be a good deal for some.

Ive stayed once before and we really liked it. Rooms were larger and very modern and clean. Bathrooms were nice. Looking forward to spending more time at the resort as well, we were only there 1 night on our cruise overnight in Orlando.

I'm heading down to Miami Beach for a couple days in January (assuming AA doesn't cancel my flights). Has anyone gone to Everglades for a day? Any suggestions? Also, Any manatee viewing spots in Miami Beach?

I have been to both the Shark Valley visitor center (we came from Naples area) and the Ernest F Coe visitor center (we came from Miami area). Both times it was a quick trip. I liked the Shark Valley area better. We saw a million bazillion alligators. They have a tram tour but we did not do it, I think we got there too late, or maybe I was too cheap. lol Maybe it was both. We walked down the trail by the canal where the alligators are just feet from you. At first it was a little scary, I wouldn't want to have a little kid with me, but then you get used to it and be idiot tourists like the rest of them and take selfies with the gators lol. From the EFC visitor center, we were in much more of a hurry, we were driving from Key West to FLL and did a quick detour. We didn't go very far in, but did do a walk around a boardwalk and only saw 1 alligator. We did not see any Manatees. I think you have to go all the way down to the Flamingo visitor center to see them.

Same with me. LDL is 159. Everything else is okay but total is 271. I got it down initially by going from 7 eggs a week to 4-5. Then I cut back this year to 2-3 but it jumped back up. I think it really is the junk I eat (baked goods and ice cream) and I really need to be more conscientious now that I'm in my 40s. Ugh!
I'm pretty sure any link between eggs eaten and cholesterol has been disproven. The current thought is 1 a day is fine.

My doctor is a big statin pusher also and even starts mentioning it if my cholesterol creeps over 200 at all. I have resorted to red yeast rice to keep it down, works well for me. My cholesterol is very correlated with my weight also.

What about a link between pop tarts and cholesterol?? There better not be a link there!! 🤣

Weird observation but the photo on my chase app is a restaurant right by where I work. I guess they must personalize that.
I always wonder about that because mine is often the denver botanic gardens. I recognize the chihuly piece
And I get Pearl Street Mall in Boulder. I even use VPN on my computer. Must be something in the cache or cookies or something (I am not tech literate, so I may not be using the right terms 🤣 ).
