Lol, as noted above, the perks can change at any time! Plus dues can and will increase. The AP perk has made it possible for me to have a couple in reserve and they can be assigned to anyone. My older daughter was listed as an owner with me, so she gets the same perks, and if anything happens that I don't use my reserve passes and tickets, her family can.
That is a really good idea. So I can purchase an extra Gold AP and just hold the voucher in MDE indefinitely or does it just work for you because your passes were older grandfathered in?

So YNAB users... We did the migration to new YNAB and even after going through tutorials I'm totally confused about how nYNAB is handing our budget. My day to day job as an accountant is reconciling accounts and balances and I cannot figure out what nYNAB did to our budget, and I really don't like how it handles credit cards.

I could deal with all that, but as best as I can tell, the month-to-month view is completely gone and there's no way to actually budget in future months. You know... Budget, like a budget.

Am I just stupid and missing this? Because I'm not going to bother wrapping my head around the rest of this if they changed actual budgeting. Are there any other budget programs that work basically, well, like YNAB4 did? Especially with regards to future months.

this is what I’ve been worried about with switching... YNAB already isn’t working on my phone. I’m trying to decide if I want to switch to Mint or what and how the heck I’m going to have the time to set up all my new stuff in there.

Oh joy - just woke up to a fraud alert from Barclays - someone has been using my JetBlue card on walgreens.com. At least they caught it early - that card is sock-drawered at the moment so no real inconvenience but annoying just the same.
I had an unauthorized charge on my CSR a couple of months ago Chase canceled and sent me a new card. Three weeks later I had another unauthorized charge from the same company (no idea who or what they are). I SM'd Chase and they again canceled and reissued but how the heck did this same company get my new card number again so fast.? I don't even think I had a chance to use it.

Yeah, that's where I am too. I switched to YNAB years ago because it was basically a nicer, more organized budgeting software that I was already doing with spreadsheets at the time. The more I read about nYNAB, the more it appears they are really emphasizing that one month at a time thing, which is just not how we budget and I don't feel we can do it effectively with those constraints. And frankly, if I'm starting from zero and building a brand new budget, I'm not going to force nYNAB to work for us - I'm going to find something else that actually does what we need. nYNAB is too expensive to deal with that headache. If they wanted subscription fees that badly, I'd pay them to keep continued support for YNAB4, but here we are.

There's a lot of polarization between old and new YNAB users, and most of the new YNAB users I've seen basically have a condescending "hurr durr new is different and better and you're obviously just set in your old ways and don't get it (side note, I never thought I'd see the day when I encountered a superiority complex about budgeting software, but thank you internet, I have now seen it all), watch the tutorials, read more, etc."

We're both on Androids and luckily the old app still works, so for now we're chugging along, but I know time is running out. Ugh, this is so irritating.

Until the deal disappears. Which is likely to happen b/c that's how Disney is in the past few years. This would work if you want the contract anyway regardless of the deal (omg I'm jealous of your pricing lol)

It's the only way an annual pass makes sense to me. If I didn't have tickets bought a few years ago, plus the annual pass discount, all my DVC trips would be to Hilton Head. The present day ticket prices would be too high for me to consider relaxation trips and I would seriously consider selling DVC and buying a much less expensive timeshare option, or I would buy something cheap and rent out my DVC. Maybe.

I think you can still do it because the passes have a 2030 expiration last time I looked. But things change and I haven't bought my new pass yet. I'll be doing that sometime before I leave Saturday. Meanwhile I have to combine $744.44 of my gift cards at disneygiftcard to make my purchase, otherwise this would be done.

Edit: I bought one of my passes at just under $500 and the price changed so the 2nd one I have was over $500. A few months later they were almost $600 and so on. So ridiculous.

Yikes! As first I thought it was a scam. But when I went into my SW account (not via the email), it was indeed locked.

I haven't gotten an email, but yesterday I had to change a flight that I had booked for someone else via my own points. Logged in to make the change and I see 'you last visited Oct 21'. No. I didn't. My piddly little bit of points were still there and since I had to change the day of the flight, I had to use more, leaving only 2400 in my account. It bothered me for about a minute or so and then I moved on until I see your reports of emails from Southwest.

On top of that I had a threatening voice mail yesterday from someone claiming to be social security. After googling the number, it was confirmed spam, but usually the messages left are more in the line of 'your vehicle warranty has expired' or 'consolidate your credit card debt'. I'm guessing I made some target list for scamming older people. My phone does a text version of voicemail so at least I didn't have to actually listen to this menacing message.

Oh the SS one! Every couple months I get that call so be prepared for it to be the norm. At first the voicemail did sound a bit threatening- and I feel bad for the people who fall for the scam- but at this point I just laugh. Yeah buddy, you go ahead and “shut down my social security number” good luck with that!

There are lots of SS scams going around. I received one a few weeks ago which I knew was clearly a scam since they know exactly where to find me and still give me a paycheck every 2 weeks.

We are certainly not supposed to leave threatening voice mails. And I certainly wouldn’t be calling a number that is left. I would call our 800 call center or your local field office.

🤣

I was hoping someone could chime in and help out because nYnab started right when I was ready to pull the trigger on YNAB 4, and I wasn't crazy about the subscription idea so then I didn't join for awhile longer... eventually did so now we have only used nYNAB and I like it much better than other free programs I'd tried but I never used 4 so I don't know the differences.

I know to budget in future months, I have to move to the next one... like right now I can go to November... once I put a budget amount in one of the categories, I can go to December, and so on. If that helps :)

So I tried a Shack Shack burger for the first time this week, and I have to say I'm not a fan. Everything was very fresh. The leafy lettuce looked picture perfect. The sliced tomato were very juicy. The potato bun felt moist and warm. But the hamburger patty, which I always consider the whole point of a cheese/hamburger, was way too mushy. I prefer patties with a bit more substance and structure. Whatever meat they use for the patty was just too soft – juicy and fresh, but again too mushy.

I also tried their chicken sandwich. The chicken breast was thick, well battered and crispy, perfectly cooked, and juicy. Loved the taste of the pickles and the buttermilk herb mayo together. It felt very cool and fresh and was a nice balance to the fried chicken. It was messy though! The chicken and lettuce were sliding around between the bun and the sauce got all over the wrapper and my fingers. I'd say Shake Shack's chicken sandwich is better than Popeyes which I tried recently, but not better Bakesale Betty's in Oakland.

To bring it back on topic, I did use my Amex Gold $10 dining credit. :thumbsup2

Yeah, I see it's possible to budget in categories for future months, but any future income is pending and not actually put in, so it's impossible to tell without manually calculating how close you are to your income coming in. This is actually how YNAB4 was set up as well, it was intended to be income for the current month only, but you could cheat it by creating a "fake" account and putting future paychecks in there to forecast for the future. As far as I can tell for nYNAB, this simply doesn't work anymore. And I found something in the Help section on the website explicitly stating you can only budget income that you actually have in the current month, which completely defeats the purpose.

I think their burgers are ok but I am not a fan of the crinkly cut fries. Their milkshakes are pretty good. Our Shake Shack is in the same location at CF so I will choose SS more frequently because the $10 almost covers the meal and it comes no where close at CF.

i never used YNAB4 but my old excel tracking sheets sound like they were closer to YNAB4. You can still trick nYNAB but you’d have to create a dummy entry with today’s date or earlier in order to have that money available for future month budgeting.

It took me a few months to get used to doing this way and I have to say it’s really helped me to stop living on the float. I always had enough money across all of our accounts to pay all our bills, but a lot of time it was in a savings account or MOs or VGC that I hadn’t liquidated. Now I keep a solid 2 month cushion in my checking because I’m “spending” the money I budgeted from last months paycheck instead of the paycheck I’m expecting at the end of this month.

I hear you....I'm in the position of wishing I had "invested" :rotfl: more money into NE tix back when I could have, but didn't want to set aside so much money.... But I would have done what you've done, and stretched them out for twenty years if I had! As it is, I still have some entitlements to water parks on an old NE ticket I haven't yet used.... I can't bring myself to want that much right now from Disney. SInce my DH won't hear of DVC,it's not a consideration for me anyway. Enjoy your trips, it's rare to find a 'deal' like that nowadays!

Yes, you can buy an extra Gold AP and hold the voucher indefinitely. Technically If you add it to MDE it says that it expires in 2030 but that is because that is the furthest out date in the system ( at least that is what I was told). I had some in my MDE like that before I used them. I also have more stashed away ( physical cards) for future use that I bought while I was on property. I haven’t added them to my MDE because I have a current AP and didn’t want to have any more APs on there at the same time. But that is just me, I know other people have multiple passes stored on their profiles.
