I finished Nurse Jackie and started Working Moms. It is short though, so need to think about what is next. I will check out gossip girls.

I can’t get started on another show right now. I’m so bad about continuously watching when I should be getting something else done. Plus I really need to start reading more. I want to make sure I meet my book goal for the year. Gossip girls was really good. I will say it felt borderline soap opera (which I don’t watch) just a heads up lol.

I'm thinking of applying for the Barclays AA card (I decided against trying for another Citi AA biz given the mixed DPs).

Does Barclays pull from the same CB as Chase and Citi for biz cards? Will my recent activity get me a denial? I don't mind calling in and talking to them -- I have a legit business with bank account and some paperwork. I need a card for an upcoming spend and don't want to strike out with Barclays. Thoughts?

From my experience yes....too many cards in a short amount of time. I also have a legit photography business for the last 14 years and they denied me 3 or 4 times now, LOL.

^^^^ This. My hubs has no clue about any of the bills. Possible he doesn't even know the bank log in anymore since we moved to ally (does he know that? ) about 6 months ago.

I’m sure DH doesn’t remember I opened a Great Southern Bank account. And Discover. Maybe Cap One but that’s been open for years. I just showed him the spreadsheet of all the cc’s this morning and his eyes instantly glazed over.

My Chase Marriott Premier Plus (whatever Bonboy “B” card it’s now called) turns 1 this week. Since Chase promptly deposits the FN cert on the cardmember anniversary, I’m expecting another 35k FN soon. I have another one sitting in my account, and 2 being used for an upcoming stay at the Residence Inn in Anaheim when we go down to Disneyland this month. The Residence Inn is now a Cat 6/50k night hotel, but the SpringHill Suites right next door (and built at the same time) is still a Cat 5/35k night hotel. I’m very tempted to cancel my Residence Inn reservation to get my Bonbon points back and rebook at the SpringHill Suites with all FN certs!

Same for me with the properties on the other side of DLR. I booked Courtyard but would prefer Fairfield Inn at 35k. I have 2 certs to use but no points night’s at Fairfield after May 10 for some reason. I keep checking but it’s been stuck at that date for over a month.

Okay heading to Staples to grab some VGC. I'm going to start today with getting ones using my Citi Biz #2 and finish that spend. But I'm happy to run the game more this week if I can make the Amex pop-up gods happy with spends. I know we can't use this method to meet an Amex spend, but can we use it to make Amex happy? And will the promos on my card also work?

That's not usually my style but it's essentially what happened. I think if he hadn't used that 'you've been upgraded' line on me, I would have been okay with the first room.

On our trip last week we got the Thank you for being Platinum we upgraded you. We were given a first floor handicap accessible room next to the hotel laundry. Ummm, if that is the upgrade where would they have stuck us??? Lol. It was just one night, so we didn’t complain, but what BS they give you. I wish we were next to the guest laundry because I actually did laundry there, but nope, it was the main hotel laundry.

Can anyone with the Hyatt card tell me about the Free night? DHs card anniversary was on July 7, AF just posted August 1 and haven't heard anything about a free night. I don't see anything in his Hyatt account and haven't received any emails.

I don't even know what to do with my Bonvoy certs. I've got this one expiring in a month that I'm hoping to extend...

They all come in at different times, unfortunately. Jan 3, June 2, Sept 5, and Nov 2 for 35k certs. Assuming Sept 26 for a 50k from upgrading to Lux. I could use them on a visit home, that saves me $85/night over a weekend I'm looking at when there is a family wedding. While technically not full AF value, if I go back exactly a year from today, I've saved $1200 in AMEX offers over our SPG cards....

If I can't extend the expiring one, my choices are basically, use at an Orlando Marriott property either on arrival night or before flying out early in the morning for SWGE Previews, push to use it in one of those ways Labor Day weekend (but currently I have a WDW reservation for the exact days I need so I expect that would be hard to alter now), or... one night getaway within driving distance? The bummer is I could easily fit it in to the HHN trip now... if it was good for 13 more days!

I just applied for the Barclay AA biz card. Application is "under review" -- they need additional from me. Said they will contact me at one of the numbers on my application. If they require paperwork I'm out of luck as we won't be back in the US until the 19th. Hopefully it's just a bunch of questions I can answer.

I received an alert from Life Lock that my credit has been pulled (which means I correctly input my SSN -- still not sure why I was rejected for a Serve card). I will update once I speak to someone at Barclays.

I got the same message, but they never contacted me. Did you check your application status.? I would check it everyday you’ll eventually get approved or denied.

Tell me more about using the LSC... I still haven't bought it. We leave on the 10th and DH's birthday is this month. How can we make the most out of the 2 $25 credits?

Is the credit added to the app or do they mail out something?

According to @PolyRob you can use in RF giftshop. You can’t use the 2 credits for one meal. One thought is use $25 for your dinner and go to RF for dessert to use the $25 bday credit

REMINDER for those riding the Biz Train...
Based on new DPs it is recommended that you CLOSE your existing AA Biz card(s) before applying for another one. This can easily be done via chat. My method is to always close them shortly after the 2nd statement. Then when 95 days hits, they've already been closed for a few weeks and I'm ready to go!

Multiple DPs here and on r/churning are suggesting that they are denying people who already have a Citi AA Biz open. This is the ONE AND ONLY time you'll see a recommendation to close a card at less than the 12 month mark.

Any idea how long to wait after closing to reapply?

Saw this as an option to cash out on Swagbucks. I did open an Aspiration acct for the bonus, which hasn't posted yet so not sure if my deposits have triggered it. It looks like a simple $25 deposited into the acct which can then be transferred out to regular bank. Seems as easy as Paypal which is never a discounted cash out. I'm wondering if it'll trigger DD, I may "recommend" an acct to P2 and give it a test there. (Will cross post to SW thread, wanted to put it here as a possible DD for this bank bonus)

ETA: I don't think this will work as a DD. Swagbucks uses a special "Partner Redemption ID" to transfer the funds.

I had a ditzy moment last week or so. Went to Safeway on the last day the $7 off certain GCs coupon was good for Hotels.com... I had already used the one on my account. I went through self checkout, knowing an employee would have to ok the GC purchase (but they aren't needed for paying). While waiting I realized I forgot to put my Safeway GC back in my wallet from when I did mine, oh well, will use DHs CIP so at least it's towards MSR. So I ring it up, screen says to wait... well they had one person running self checkout plus customer service which had 5 people in line. And all 3 self check outs needed help from an employee. So while I'm waiting, I realize I can put my phone number in on the card reader, I'd never noticed before! Hey I'll do that - so I put in MY number, not DHs!!! So the poor girl comes by and taps my screen to okay it and I felt bad and didn't want to bother her to change the phone number or cancel so I just got a face value Hotels.com GC

We go 8/15-21. We are staying at CB this time and 2 of the nights are $129 and the others are $109. I think these were added since it is during their Passholder appreciation timeframe.check out the AP site on Universal.

Tried to close a citi AA biz through chat and told they can 'only close a business account with a business concierge' CS rep and that you have to call. No other option. Will try again tomorrow through chat.

I saw a short discussion on reddit saying that you can’t close via chat if there’s a retention offer on your account, and @StephPlum ’s post supports that theory.



Ah, are you in Canada? I believe the Serve product can only be used in the US. Even if you got a VPN and changed your location to within the US to obtain the card, you wouldn’t be able to load them anywhere. And the VGCs are also only good for use in the US. I need to check on the fine print on this. Ok, for eligibility you need to reside in the US, so if you put down your FL address, the card would ship there.


But, for sure if your SSN was off, that would make a difference.

So i closed a few days ago via chat . They said I have retention offers. I said I just flew AA and had an awful experience and no further use their miles and therefore not interested in a retention offer. He closed right away

Provide code to Rep and a copy of driver's license (state specific?)
Deposit $500 into free checking (online transfer or in-person)

Should be 10,000 points via a support link. Idk if the Hilton Cards you have can be used to “support” to it. But once you have the BBP you can “support” to any Amex card and get 15,000 points per “supportal”

I did this last summer. Was very easy. Waited about 90 days and closed the account. This was my 1 and only bank bonus!

Back from my week on the beaches of NC. I really need to figure out how to qualify for a second mortgage on 1 income, LOL. I NEED to buy a property down there. I had found one this spring and the rental income would have more than covered the expenses, but alas I can't qualify for 2 mortgages on a teacher income, LOL. No experience here, I figured these FN certificates lasted a year?
Are you implying that it would be better to time FN-earning card applications to say, early Fall, if I would use them mostly in the Fall/Winter time-frame?
