Serve has gone through a lot of changes over the years, and the platform is run by InComm these days and not Amex (sold it to InComm late last year). I would think you could just get a new green Serve and start over.
I had no idea! I bet the account is in an .edu e-mail address that I rarely check so best to start fresh!
I have one of those old accts. I think they gave $ for signing way back when. It's just been sitting there. I went ahead and signed up for a green card about a week and a half ago. I should probably cancel the old one, I think the original card was white? Obviously I never used it lol
I remember I only used my card until I finished spending the money I earned from selling the books. Maybe like 4/5 swipes max?
 
Somebody on r/churning said they attempted to recon a Citi AA biz card and was told they couldn't approve their card because they had closed an AA biz card in the past 6 months. I'm not suggesting this is a rule or anything - just another random piece of data that the train might be starting to derail.

Personal train is chugging along.
 
Oh my! My dh just started the traveling with his new job. FL last week and then New Orleans later this month. Dallas in Sept. I *think* it's only going to be once a month unless something changes. My dh really has to watch what flights he books. He has to book through Concur, which is the Amex travel agency (I think??), and the system will only give you certain options that are the best flights but also the best priced. So, he's looking at NO flights now and I don't think SW is going to work on the way there but it's good for the way home. It was the same for FL - SW there but a different carrier home. I feel like it's gonna take forever to build SW points at this rate!
UGH this is why I have so many random stray points! You have to use the most preferred or preferred provider, etc. I flew a one-way with AA and the points were about to expire so I ordered something from Target and skipped the usual Rakuten (still sounds weird compared to Ebates) cash back just because I didn't want to see them go to waste!
 
@miztressuz --again a big thank you! I have the 2 boxed offers on my BBP (2 add'l MRs/10% back), went to united miles plus shopping portal and spent another $100 on toothpaste, antiperspirant, etc for DD. Another $10 back plus 400 MRs, 300 united miles and one step closer to the united shopping portal bonus. I really appreciate your sharing the Amex Offers :)
 

Finally closed my over 2yo CIP. The AF posted May 1 and I closed it July 30. Got the whole $95 credited back. I was only expecting a prorated amount since over 30 days so happy about that!
That’s great to hear! I am coming up on my first PC anniversary with the CSP and I want to generate a referral and get an app in for a relative before actually switching to a CF.
 
Saw this as an option to cash out on Swagbucks. I did open an Aspiration acct for the bonus, which hasn't posted yet so not sure if my deposits have triggered it. It looks like a simple $25 deposited into the acct which can then be transferred out to regular bank. Seems as easy as Paypal which is never a discounted cash out. I'm wondering if it'll trigger DD, I may "recommend" an acct to P2 and give it a test there. (Will cross post to SW thread, wanted to put it here as a possible DD for this bank bonus)

This thread now moves so fast. I feel like I reply 3 days late. In any case. I just failed on first serve attempt. I just tried a $50 Visa gift card and when I went to Family Dollar. It asked for a phone number and then the clerk asked if it was activated, it was...but then she realized it was a gift card and said you can't use a gift card...blah blah...so I am going to try another location at some point. Just want to get some way to get points for my mortgage payment.

Also I use swagbucks sparingly..basically maybe $50 a month. But all I do is take the daily survey, print(to PDF) coupons daily and then I have a spare phone connected to a spare terminal at work and run videos in the background with varying success sometimes I have to click to next video sometimes it runs automatically. But it only takes a couple minutes a day. Also I use EBATES or Rakuten now. Which I get to order office supplies from work and I earn a bit from that.

But my success is just got approved for my CIP#2 and AmEX Blue Cash Preferred (for groceries).

Really unhappy with UR/Chase right now. Please tell me if you think I’m being unreasonable or not. I made a car rental reservation through the UR portal on my CIP account for 31k UR pts, which equaled $382. I noticed when I did the online check in with Alamo it showed the $382 fee, which I thought was kind of strange but wasn’t sure if that was normal or not since this is my first UR car rental. I called Alamo, then UR and after about 40 minutes on the phone with them I was assured it was fine, they don’t pay Alamo until the day of pickup. I used my DH’s Arrival Plus to guarantee the reservation since he was the primary driver and needed the cc needed to match the driver. This was probably a mistake in hindsight.

When we picked up the car, it still showed the dollar amount, but I (stupidly) thought this was still ok since I verified the reservation number matched my UR reservation. Well, guess what. Got home and my DH’s card was charged $382. I called Chase UR, who contacted Alamo, who refused to reverse the charges. Spoke with a supervisor who spoke with someone different at Alamo, who also refused to refund the charges. UR rep offered to reimburse me the 31k UR points, plus 5k “courtesy” points for my time and effort (I’ve been on the phone with them at that point for over an hour, plus the 40 minutes pre-trip). I mentioned this did not seem right as when I go to cash out my UR points to pay the cash fee I shouldn’t have been charged, I’m out $70. She (supervisor) indicated 5k was the most she could offer, that I would need to get with the CIP customer service.

Fast forward to several calls with CIP customer service and the UR rep (same manager), 60 minutes later, and the most the CIP customer service rep will begrudgingly agree to put in a request for is 2,700 pts (so that I can cash out for the full $382). He was very reluctant to even put this request in, and he indicated that this probably won’t be approved. I feel like I’ve totally been screwed over because I now have to pay $382 (which I had reservations for less but wanted to not use any cash), and if I cash out the 31k points, it only equals $310. I can also cash out the 5k for another $50, but after 3 hours on the phone being bounced around, and not doing anything wrong on my end, I feel like I should get the 5k UR as a true courtesy on top of the 7k to cash out to pay the cash fee.

If anyone’s still with me (sorry, this is super long!), do you think I’m wrong? My DH feels like we should just be happy we got the 31k+5k back (which trust me, I’m very grateful to not be out the UR’s and the money both), but I still feel like I’m out $70. It’s especially upsetting since I went to the trouble before we even left to verify the reservation was ok. What do you guys think? I’m just so frustrated right now! :furious:
 
No reason not to. Amex employee cards won’t add an account to your credit report (or 5/24). But remember that if you’re doing it for the Amex Offers, offers are now only 1 per SSN. So if you add an offer to your Hilton Biz employee card it will remove the same offer from other cards in your name/SSN, and the Hilton Biz card isn’t exactly the best everyday rewards earner to add an offer to. But if you don’t have the offer on any of your other cards anyway, the Hilton Biz might get you one more shot at being targeted. I personally haven’t gotten very good offers on my or DW’s Hilton Biz cards, but YMMV.

oh! I didn't realize that. I had been logging into DD's employee card on my BBP account and adding offers there. I didn't notice it was removing them from mine. Oops. Well, at least then I could use his offers on a card with my name in case they check ID (looking at u staples).

Our hiltons always seemed to get the worst offers too.

Speaking of hilton...check and see if ya'll are able to add this offer to your accounts. go2.aspx I got the email. My hilton account worked but it won't do DH's.

@snugglebug I think i'm sold to at least try it. Just a $10 DD for the bank bonus! I can do that lol. I could even do me and DH all from the same paycheck! JK, looks like the bonus is over. Will watch to see if it comes back... can still get $10 from Swagbucks.

@magickingdomprincess I don't think you're wrong. The whole point of using the points was no cash - so getting points back and owing cash... defeats the purpose. What a pain!

I finally got the $100 offer to upgrade my Disney visa. If I upgrade the opening date stays the same correct? My Disney visa is one of my oldest cards so I dont want to lose the age of the card.
Also, if I upgrade I can just downgrade after a year to avoid the fee?
And last, it doesn’t mess with 5/24 slots or anything? I’ll be down to 4/24 in 2 weeks so I don’t want to mess it up

I do not think you are wrong AT ALL! You called to ensure it was ok, was reassured it was, then double charged, and only provided a partial refund after wasting your time. Time is also money!!

I really hope you get approved for the additional reimbursement to make it whole and not $70 short!
 
I guess I just feel like I don’t need to do either of them? We all do things differently here, though, which is what I like about our group
I’m kind of the same as you. I skip most of the MS stuff because I’m not really interested in doing that.

I should be receiving my green card (lol) in 7-10 business days! I’m excited to try this. I go to Walmart every week for groceries anyway. I downloaded the app because I think I’d rather use that than the website

Congrats! None of that will change or be affected. You can 100% downgrade again in a year and it does not take up a 5/24 slot. You may even get lucky and not get charged the AF by the date the offer says like a few of us who upgraded earlier this year. I randomly check and hope Chase doesn't catch-on 😂

Crying with you 😭 I think the only cure is that she apply for the summer alumni program. Or a whole new program in a year or so 😂

Yes! She is going back in 2 weeks for character auditions for Tokyo. Not sure how I feel about that, but most people aren't chosen on their first time, so it is good practice.

She is going to watch and see if any seasonal spots open up she can apply for for most any position. She might magically find that she has reapplied for the Spring DCP :rolleyes1 when those apps release. And yes, summer alumni is another option. The future of my discounts is bright, folks!
