Just as an off topic update on DHs jobs... that big customer now has a space in Cleveland (DH is excited to be close to Cedar Point) and they just sent him an email that they are considering Atlanta.

Just to recap, they already have 3 jobs going in Reno, 2 in KC, 2 in Chicago, and 2 here in Denver area...
So your dh will be traveling to these places more ?? Or is there a potential for moving?

REMINDER for those riding the Biz Train...
Based on new DPs it is recommended that you CLOSE your existing AA Biz card(s) before applying for another one. This can easily be done via chat. My method is to always close them shortly after the 2nd statement. Then when 95 days hits, they've already been closed for a few weeks and I'm ready to go!

Multiple DPs here and on r/churning are suggesting that they are denying people who already have a Citi AA Biz open. This is the ONE AND ONLY time you'll see a recommendation to close a card at less than the 12 month mark.
Yup!! I forgot I got my letter from them yesterday and I was denied for the above reason.

If you want a shot at an instant approval then you may want to wait a day or two for the data to report up to the CR's. If the statement closes today, the soonest your CR would show it is tomorrow, but could be over the weekend. Here's the timeline for my off-cycle update from June. Basically my payment date would be the same as your statement close date.

Since instant approval is more the exception than the rule - although our little group gets a LOT of them :cheer2: - could probably try as soon as tomorrow. Chase shows the new CL instantly but I've read it might take a little bit to filter through all the systems in place so to be safe probably want to give it a bit. Would hate for the system that processes automatic approvals to not see it yet after you did the work, especially if it hasn't reported yet to the CR they just pulled.

If you could stand it, probably wait until Monday. If CJ is the only way you'd know, and it only updates weekly, does it update every Monday? I don't remember the day it says the info refreshes.
I'd love to be a part of the instant approval club :cheer2: but I won't be surprised if I'm not! I'm fully prepared to be calling the status line for the first time! I only use CJ and it updates weekly. It was just updated today, so the next update won't be until next week. I think I can hold on until the 8th... I waited this long, what's one more week? :bored:

I'll just keep reminding myself the work and the wait will be worth it (if I'm approved! :scared: lol)

Thank you, thank you @tink1970!!!

I tend to agree, locking in a 30k one way to BCN versus maybe sneaking in a free leg inside Europe sounds like a better option.

It’s not too terrible for us to get a flight to Chicago (also just a 4 hour drive that we’ve done many times). I need to price out Windsor and other Ontario airports as well. For some reason flying out of Canada is always so much cheaper (that would likely be a cash booking via URs). We’re only 30 min from the border.

We’re doing a 7 night med on RCCL Allure. It will be dry docked earlier (I think april) so should be exciting. We cruised on the sister ship Oasis and loved it.

Nothing booked for Barcelona and definitely open to recommendations. Last time we were there we used SPG points (RIP SPG, best points ever :littleangel:) to stay at the Le Meridien on Las Ramblas and loved it (the best cafe across the street for breakfast, lunch and dinner and good prices too). Post cruise we did 2 nights on the beach at an AC Marriott close to the airport (loved walking along the beach, so much to see and a gorgeous walking path that went on as far as you could see).

have you scheduled United flights today or are you waiting to do the free stopover? I'm excited for you! I can't really recommend anything to do in Barcelona-our favorite thing was just walking along the beach (we stayed at the Ritz) although we did take a couple of tours with Barcelona Day Tours (Monserrat and overview of BCN visiting Park Guell). I think once your flights are purchased the trip becomes real!

REMINDER: If you have an Amex charge card (e.g., Platinum, Gold, Green, and their business versions), be sure to check occasionally if you're eligible to enroll in Pay Over Time for an easy 10,000 MR points. Note that as of the end of last year, Amex began including Pay Over Time/Extended Payment as a standard "benefit" on many of their charge cards, including the personal Gold and Business Gold. If your card is already enrolled in Pay Over Time, you will need to chat with Amex to unenroll from the benefit in order to eventually qualify for these Pay Over Time offers.

DoC keeps a running list of links to check if you're eligible. Most of the links have been to Pay Over Time offers for the business charge cards, but the newest link looks like it's for personal charge cards:

DH's biz green was enrolled this weekend, easiest 10K MRs ever!

does not bode well for our AA economy flight :rotfl:

Um, well...I didn't really want to point it out 🤣 But...your flights were free so I think that mitigates some of the expectations. I had prepared for a crappy biz but when reality hit I was still disappointed based on the number of miles I used. I would bring water and snacks though. Just sayin'....

40 % AmEx MR > Avios transfer bonus
Just spent my Dell credit last week. Should have been more patient!!

:sad::sad:I just spent 200K Avios on my 50th birthday trip to Scotland, so of course there's a bonus now. I was so excited to have made a decision and I too should have been more patient. At least I know I'm in first-I'd like to think they would have been snapped up if I'd waited. Yes, that's it. Still, I feel your pain @disneybirds !

More traveling. He's off to Chicago again next week (me: book expensive SW flight! only 10k RRs to A list preferred!) He just ended up with this customer that is opening warehouses all over. 1 in Denver is not quite done, 3rd job in Reno is just starting/2nd is just finishing, 1st in Chicago is going/2nd just sold, I believe KC is 90% done, and Cleveland is in quoting stage so he will probably make a trip there soon-ish. Atlanta is possibly early 2020, they want to start working on an early budget with him. This has been very crazy :faint:

It’s easy money. I really have to get BlueBird too so i can get $24,000 annually. That will pay for a China ABD!!
I may have to take the plunge and order a green card! I can try and start small with one GC to see how it goes. :scratchin

I think I honestly already have a Serve account. I got a blue card with cash years ago (when it first started?) from selling textbooks back to... maybe Chegg? It had no fees and I think I close it somehow? I should probably figure that out.

I've been trying to follow DPs, and saw this posted yesterday by blueeyesaustin that they were denied even with a mailer and all closed biz cards. That's me asking about any open biz cards.

Something to keep an eye on.

Regular checkout line. It can be done at customer service too but there is one lady at customer service at the Walmart closest to me that’s a pain in the butt lol

I really want to try this, but the closest WM to me is always busy and the CS counter is S L O W (I have had the misfortune to make a few returns). The lines at checkout are always super long. I will be brave and order the Serve and give it a shot! Maybe I can go really early on a weekend when it shouldn't be too busy.

When you do this, are you buying things too? Or just in line for this? I remember you've mentioned going to electronics/garden center too for no lines.

I normally just load the cards. If I am buying something I have them ring it up separately. There are two grocery stores across the street from my Walmart which makes it super easy to just stop in.
