On an exciting and positive note we are having a second child to go along with our now almost 3 year old. Since I don't plan on traveling much until that second child is at least a bit older I plan on having points galore by the time that we need them :) .

Congratultions!

ETA: Did @Killer Fish just win the DISchurners baby making competition?

@SouthFayetteFan my Cdn AmEx arrived today! I just did online chat with AmEx asking that I get assigned a new Marriott number (I said I used my husband's account number by accident, which is true -- the account is in his name). They said it would take 1-2 days and I will have a new number. Hopefully this will ensure that I get the 50,000 points.

On another note I set up an online account (completely separate from my US account) and I have 3 offers. One for a food delivery service, one for H&M (which expires in 2 days) and 1 for some kind of shipping service. That's it. Pretty lousy.

That’s really good to know that it didn’t affect your trip. I’m worried that the email says specifically that it will be the beach from 37th to 38th though, which is literally the entire length of the hotel. So maybe the construction has moved further down and that’s why you didn’t get the email before?
I am surprised they are moving that quickly since they were quite a few blocks away from the Courtyard when we left on Fri so they are probably going with the flow. I wish I had taken pictures but the beach work is desperately needed since there was so little beachfront there compared to a couple of block south (like 34th St).

Just a shout-out to you and some others here over time who've mentioned Tickets at Work. I was able to get my company set up with them despite us being a small business with only a few employees. No idea if we'll find any deals for our travels but it's always nice to have another avenue of discounts.

Idk if anyone is in the same boat with a small business with only a few employees but we just assumed this sort of thing was for large corporations only but it's not- and it's free. (They make their money off the commissions of what they sell.) I sent an email inquiry through their website and they called the next day.

This is brilliant! I also thought it was for large companies. I will put this on my to do list.

Was coming to post about plastiq but you guys beat me too it. Will be interesting to see if it posts as cash advance or not. Don’t have a card to use for Mortage right now but I’m sure it will come in handy in January with the sw cc.
I still don’t think you can pay mortgages with Visa on Plastiq. Or at least in my mind, residential rent is different than a mortgage. I wonder if I could try with DH’s CIU since I have the 1.5% offer and would break even or use the Arrival + and come out slightly ahead.

I got the plastiq email too. Kind of confused about how this changes things? Is mortgage now allowed? Just seeing rent.

My thinking too. Rent is different and has always been allowed on visa through plastiq.

I do not use UR's to book if we need two drivers. It's impossible to do that now with a UR booking it seems.

Not sure if you were just referring to National, but we were able to add a second driver for free with Alamo on a UR portal booking. I will say it was weird though, all the paperwork showed we were being charged the rental fee, which I'm still nervous about. But so far no actual charges have hit our cc.

That is the same as JAL--BA is about 5 days later so that's awesome. Well done for your booker! Sounds like it was a good experience? I've always thought about using one of those guys, but never pulled the trigger.

Sorry to be so slow to respond. Just getting slammed at work today, so I'm pages behind... Anyway, it was a really positive experience. He was great about answering all of my questions and was proactive in staying in touch as my booking dates approached. I wouldn't hesitate to use Juicy or another reputable booking service again in the future if I had a particularly complicated redemption or a *must have* that I was afraid I'd mess up or not be able to get myself. In this case, it was absolutely worth using the service since I was literally flying on both dates that our 360-day booking windows opened. (For the outbound flights to Japan, I was in the air on my way to Johannesburg, and for the return flights to the U.S., I was in the air on my way to Paris.) He did email me before booking the return flights just to make sure nothing had changed, but I wasn't able to respond since I had no Internet in Botswana and then was flying. But he went ahead and did the booking anyway based on what we had previously discussed. The only personal information I had to give him access to was my Qantas account so he could use those miles to do the booking and credit card info for him to pay the taxes/fees. (I monitor my credit cards pretty much every day anyway, so I could see that he wasn't doing anything funny with my cards. Plus, I know Chase is really good about dealing with fraudulent charges.) I did the MR transfer prior to leaving for Africa, so he had no access to my Amex account. I think I mentioned previously that he was a little concerned that Chase would want me to verify use of my card to pay the taxes/feees by confirming a text message code or something similar when they saw an attempted charge in foreign currency that I probably wouldn't be able to get while in the air. If all else failed, he offered to pay the taxes and fees with his own credit card and have me reimburse him, which I thought was an awesome *above and beyond* service. But it never came to that. I gave him card info for both my CSR and Platinum so he'd have a backup if one failed, Then I PM'd both Chase and Amex giving the heads up that I'd be paying taxes/fees on award bookings and that the charges might be in foreign currency. Assume that helped because he was able to charge my CSR both sets of taxes/fees without any issue. Our total taxes and fees for all flights was $1,127.40 (plus 640,000 MR). Totally worth it to me in this case to pay the additional $200 per person for him to do the bookings. So all in cash, including the Juicy fee, was $1,927.40. Total bargain in my mind for 4 round-trip *upper class* seats. Not quite as good as you on the points, but I had accrued those MR specifically for this purpose and was prepared to use more, so all good in my mind.

Cam you get a cahs advance on thr CIP? Since it's a biz card I didn't think about it being an issue. I can lower it before I pay my student loan if so.

was able to knock out $400 in just a few days towards dh's CIP MSR. (I know, peanuts compared to what @speedyfishy can accomplish, but since I have been laid out flat with my back out since last Monday I really appreciate what I was able to do!)

I think $400 is impressive! Even though I MS a lot I still took advantage of the swagbucks deal. I hope your back feels better!

2000 Swagbucks purchase is now showing a $.99 fee on my account. :sad1: I was able to knock out $400 in just a few days towards dh's CIP MSR.

I did the same on my CIP! Just thinking out loud, at least for 1x2000 a day, as long as my second goal and bonus stay so high, I could still break even or make a few pennies. I'll keep an eye on where my second goal goes if I'm not hitting 8k per day. Not as good as $80 per day for sure. But I'd take $20 per day.
